Fragrances, just like shaving and watches, can tend to become a hobby that gets out of hand quick 😅 My 3 favorites at the moment are Colonia Pura, Guilty Elixir and Royal Oud

One of the last things I do before I leave the house for my morning walk, and to meet friends for coffee, is to put on some cologne. For me, wearing cologne is just as essential as wearing a pocket square with a suit jacket.

Oh boy! Let the challenge begin…the wife and I JUST paid off both cars and all CC debt…Now I’m trying to hypnotize myself into not buying what I want when I want( your advice about learning from one’s past is ringing in me ears). Luckily during our last visit to Blighty we went semi crazy in Floris ( and elsewhere) and needless to say our Christmas will be quite fragrance filled.

Same here. Chanel regulates the market and pricing. No discounters can sell it and a lot of fakes on eBay. Only fragrance house I have bought full retail. Over $200 with sales tax for 100ml 😵

Out of your selection I am only familiar with Guerlain's Habit Rouge and Chanel's Blue de Chanel. Habit Rouge is a complex, well blended and elegant scent, I absolutely adore it. It punches way above its weight considering its modest price and imho definitely outclasses many niche fragrances.
@sdb871493 күн бұрын
Ash, I would love more fragrance content if you feel so inclined. Maybe another 10-20 of your best. Have you explored any Tom Ford? They are very pricey full retail but I quite like the Ombré leather (original, less sweet) and just bought a small bottle online. Maybe Oud Wood. There are several other hits as well you might enjoy I’m sure you know Czech and Speake as well, small niche house started on Jermyn Street

In one of your earlier editions about fragrances, somebody wrote in the comments about a scent called "encre noir" it's from 2006 by lalique, a swiss company. I believe I saw your older videos either just before or just after I got hooked on Tabac and Edition. But it does seem absurd not to keep a couple bottles of those in reserve. Oh when a North American summer just won't end the frigid dew upon the Autumn moss bottled therein with the sweet woody citrus does help one to hang in there until the sane weather months arrive! 😂 Therefore 1) I keep meaning to compare the legendary chypres eg. Dunhill Edition, Eau sauvage, Oscar for Men, Versace L'homme, Azzaro pour homme l'eau, etc. So if you ever deem this review task worthy of your time I will be thrilled. I may be better able to diversify when the cooler months arrive. 2)Thanks for the Eucris tip! It sounds fascinating and I'd never heard of it although the Trumper sandalwood has been on my radar. 3) I believe that the universe would benefit from a partner video with yourself and MrSmelly1977-you sit at a table next to each other casting hostile and defensive glances at each other having a fragrance review battle...What?! YOU don't get to have Houbigant Royal Fougere on YOUR list! EVERYONE KNOWS that's one MY top ten BUDDY! I said good day sir!" Anyways warmest regards best wishes cheers and thank you for all of the lovely videos!

I have 2 go-to fragrances that you should try. Both are CHANEL. Each a little more costly. But that’s CHANEL. I think that you should try if simply to comment that you have tried. 1. Le Lion. one of COCO’s original 1 to 8 fragrances from which #5 was chosen. . Powerful-carnal- leather, tobacco and vanilla notes. 2. Boy.. Coco referred to her man friend Arthur Capel as Boy. He tragically died in a car crash in 1919. They would have married. This fragrance she created in 1920 as testament to him. Both are CHANEL incredible

Fahrenheit is considered "old school". It is also a polarizing fragrance. Very masculine and as mentioned before, not mass appealing. Where Dior Savauge is very mass appealing but I don't find it as masculine as Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit le Parfum is more accepting and smoother than the OG.

Hello Ash! How long do fragrances last? If you have a couple of hundred scents, aren’t you worried most of it will go to waste, or are you selecting fragrances with a long shelf life?
@TheChapsGuide4 ай бұрын
If stored correctly, out of UV light and at an ambient temperature, fragrances can last many years. I keep all mine in a dresser drawer in my bedroom and have many which are well over 10-years old, and have lost no potency.

Here's a question Ash, do you think the bottle design/ Artwork/ Packaging has any influence on you? I think we all like to think it doesn't but there is a reason why they spend so much on its design. I recently visited the perfume Museum in the South of France (Grasse) , they have a whole section on design and artwork of bottles. Well worth a visit for any chap knocking around the Côte d'Azur.

"My next fragrance, when I want to feel a little more seductive..." Okay, but remember: the French are allergic to the letter 'h', so that the 'h', preceding a vowel, is always silent; likewise, the final consonant of a noun in French is always silent, *unless* it is succeeded by a vowel. Thus, the correct pronunciation of 'habit rouge' is (more or less) 'abbey rouge'.

I’m not French, hence I pronounce it Habit Rouge.
