I 'inherited' my parents' dog when we lost my Dad last year. If anyone dared to tell me to choose between them or the dog, they would be told in no certain terms to pound sand...and probably not that nicely because it was a promise I made to my Dad before he passed! That's what I was thinking. If this is a story from 2021-22, the whole thing is believable, she spent Corona building contacts, and finding houses, soon as there was a lift from lock down starts flipping them. Housing prices SOARED in 2022. So not only could she have started flipping some in 2021, she was a realtor, so she was making money when others where buying the houses as well. If she then takes that money and shoves 80% of that back into buying then flipping them at the start of 2022... He could have gotten laid off for a variety of reasons, including the sector his IT company supported went down during lock down, or right after. Just because some one is in IT, doesn't mean that company stays in business from then on out. IT covers the gammit... if every one went home, and then staid home, if HIS company was one of those that ran the building computer tower thingies (hubby would know, and would be ashamed I don't know the names), well there's no one IN the buildings any more, or not enough to justify having a full staff hence the layoffs. I mean my hubby is a call center IT person... 80% of the people in that building that worked the call center went HOME for Corona, and I don't think 50% have gone back to the physical building. Soooooo the ones that ran the networks for Hubby's employer lost staff as they didn't need 3000+ computers/ phone lines, etc. they now have less than 500 and only in one small part of the massive building, they squished the office space down they needed, and the landlord went looking for new businesses to use the other offices, but they weren't call centers and didn't need the huge amount of support. WHO my hubby was doing call center work FOR, also changed during Corona too... for example, at the VERY start of it, he was helping all those office workers go home, sent up their laptops, teach them how to sign into the new systems, etc. Then he swapped over to helping businesses shut down offices, and now he's doing something with Oil Rigs, or Oil companies... I'm not sure. Hubby's business adapted, and swiftly, to rapidly changing areas of need... Op's hubby's company may not have.

He let her know right off the bat this was the situation when they started up the relationship. SHE tried to change the terms. My uncle was sick with inoperable slow moving pancreatic cancer. He was living alone and we visited often... but mom said... he needs a cat. So. we found a rescue and surprised him with a cat. I have NEVER in my life seen my uncle that happy! On the spot... I told him... if something happens to you... no problem, I will take her. He had her for a couple years before he passed....her sassy butt came home with me over 5 years ago. Exactly, I follow NUMEROUS Real Estate, finance channels and they ALL talked about the shortage of labor, supplies for ANYTHING related to Real Estate PLUS the massive inflation costs on EVERYTHING, that it was hard to get appraisers, inspectors to properties, difficulty closing and tons of other issues the pandemic caused. I'm not buying this for a second. Nevermind the mortgage forbearance only covered the P and I part of their mortgages, property taxes, homeowners insurance still had to be paid by the property owner. The moratorium on evictions ONLY closed the courts, landlords could still file for evictions, they would just end up sitting on judge's desks until THEY got the ok to start hearing cases. Nevermind unless she had the cash, equity, clear titles in other properties to put up as collateral etc etc etc to acquire other properties, They don't just end up becoming multiple property owners.

It is not alwhat people think it is . When someone says they're in IT they're usually some little funky working in an office changing computer busses and mouse cables. People imagine they're in such things as Product development et cetera but those are very rare . The majority of people who say they're an IT are covering for a 2 year city college degree. I'm more impressed with someone who says they're in a technical or even a blue collar position that requires I much higher degree of skills that someone who's running around changing Memory cards in vacuuming out Copiers for some real estate company. And In California especially Malibu area I grew up in Venice beach. You have to be making several million dollars annually to even look at a Malibu property that's in distress . A lot of people were flipping houses during COVID... The market was at a low for 3-4 months... And anyone who got the early vaccine could work which if you wanted to keep your job you had to get...
