My dad is in his 60's. We've played games together since the 80's when I was little, and we still do. He has beaten all the From Software games including Elden Ring, and we went through Shadows of the Erdtree this year. Some of the best times in my life are associated with playing games with my dad, the biggest laughs, the happiest moments. We live in different states so gaming online gives us a way to spend more time together between visits. He has advanced liver disease and is in failing health, so I try to spend as much time with him as I can

17:27 That's honestly a really good observation. Lyendell, and by extension the erdtree, isn't really too far from Limgrave. There's a bunch of broken bridges that once made the lands between more interconnected, but they've been destroyed by war.

I am a mom that plays and just learned the controller on my own as my kids are grown and out of the house. It's a very friendly new player experience and so many ways to play depending on your skill level. You can make it ez by using the spirit summons and using better weapons and armor or harder by using less armor and soloing bosses. It allows for many play styles.

"You might get jump scared a little" Let me tell you the worst jump scare I ever got from a game was at the isolated merchant's shack at the top of the hill near Dragonbarrow. It might have been my first time going up and I got the attention of one of the t-rex dog things, and I rode straight into the house and tried to hit the site of grace. Right as I was touching the grace that damn thing's head poked THROUGH the wall of the shack and I literally fell out of my chair and screamed.

You basically guided her into attacking the first npc even though he's supposed to teach her how to use grace sites and where the first milestone is (stormveil castle) but by attacking him she missed out on a whole segment. You didn't need to tell her he's an asshole, you let her talk to him and experience the assholeness herself.

ur mom is great!! but i think u cld've explained health n stamina to her better, bc i think souls game r more abt managing those things more than anything else also u shld prolly encourage her to heal more instead of doing it for her so she got the right lesson lastly u shld teach her basic ways of avoiding damage like rolling/blocking, timing rolls might b hard for a beginner but holding up a shield is pretty simple i think if she learned these mechanics properly she is on track to get her first great rune! so remember this if she ever wanted to try again
