I love that fact that you still have some of your older gear. I've sold things over the years that I regret selling. I had a Klipsch and McIntosh system that I had bought at auction for pennies on the dollar and ended up selling it. I can't replace it for 5X the price nowadays.

Nice room. Don’t sell your system short. To many your system is High-end. During the 80’s I had my share of dbx and other processors. Now I am into vintage high end.

So awesome! You got some great gear! The Kindel speakers were made in Riverside CA by a gentleman named Bill Kindel. PLS A, the LS means Line Stage. Forget what the P and A stood for. Yes indeed they throw a huge soundstage. All the best to you!

Thanks for the tour. I enjoyed the older equipment. I worked for the DOD from 1966-2007 and took a job in 1969-71 selling HiFi equipment so i could afford better equipment to enjoy the improvement in sound quality. It takes a lot of time to move up in quality. I'm now retired and have a 5.1 system. I mostly listen to 2 ch. music. I'm using Martin Logan QuestZ for front speakers. The rear speakers are Magnepan 3.7's with an MG center channel. Most of my equipment is bought used as we live in West Texas now. I have records back to my first album, Jimmy Reed, though today's along with CD's and concert videos. I agree with your assignment of importance in life. Take care and God Bless, Jeff Woods

@9:05 "DBX equipment I bought in the '80s" When the DBX 3BX III came out, I purchased it (I believe it was $500 -- which was worth a lot more back then, when I was working for close to minimum wage). I connected it to my Sony STR-V5 receiver, and I loved it. It gave the music the slam I was craving. The only drawback was that it did so across all frequencies. So loud mid-range frequencies, that were already mixed too loud, became even louder. On day, I brought the DBX box to my brother's house. He had a much better stereo than me. That was when I heard how bad my DBX box sounded. Yes, it did provide dynamic range expansion. But it was low quality in nature. Even keeping the DBX box set with minimal expansion, the fact that the signal was being processed by the DBX box, killed the sound quality (something my Sony receiver and my Radian Research speakers did not reveal). I have no idea what I did with that DBX box. It was great in my low-fi stereo, where I had no soundstage (did not even know what that was). But for a quality stereo, that DBX box was a sound quality killer. Perhaps DBX has better quality gear? My experience was with only one of their products.
@kennysaudiophilerecordreviews
@kennysaudiophilerecordreviews Жыл бұрын
I rarely ever use my DBX units these days but years ago I did and they sound was fine to my ears but like you, my system was not as good then as it is now. The DBX 3BX III units are very popular these days as some sell for over $1000 on the used market. Thank you very much for your comments and viewing my video, I really appreciate it.

I would say that is well above a mid-fi system. I would be embarrassed to display my sound system (LOL). Money wise I guess my system will always be a "Low-Fi" system. Same cartridge/stylus, but an Audio Technica AT-LP120XBT-USB and due to a small room I have to share my PC with my Music so I unfortunately have to run my music through a Quad style PC Logitech Z906 system. Yep, I have over 800 albums cataloged over at DISCOGS with many being originals and audiophile and I'm stuck with this system. Hopefully before I die I can listen to my sound in a better environment. Thanks for the tour. I'm jealous/envious.

Beautiful system and room tour. Love how the BAT stuff sounds. Damn, you’ve got a museum of fantastic old HiFi gear. That Marantz 8B is such a classic and wonderful sounding amp, and the Technics SP-15 is another classic piece of HiFi gear. Can I ask what kind of tonearm you’ve got on it? I’ve never seen a pair of those Cascade speakers. My friend, Patrick, who’s got a great channel called The Vinyl Archivist, uses one of those sugarcubes. He takes some of the best sounding pressings and digitizes them. He’s got a site where you can listen to his hi res vinyl rips, and they sound amazing, especially through a good DAC. Thanks for the tour! Just when I thought it was over, you showed more! lol At least it’s seems you’ve got what’s truly important at the forefront of your life. Thanks again for the tour, Kenny! ✌️🔊😊🎶

Nice collection of equipment, do you actually use any of it besides your main Amp and preamp?
@kennysaudiophilerecordreviews
@kennysaudiophilerecordreviews Жыл бұрын
The items that I use mostly are the BAT tube amp, pass labs preamp, luxman DAC, sony SACD player, sony HAP-Z1ES, my turntables, and sugarcube sc-2 plus. The remaining items that I purchased way back in the day, I used them then but I rarely (hardly ever) use them now. The only items that I use occasionally are the Carver C9, phase linear amp, marantz tube amp, Nakamichi dragon cassette deck and the reel to reel decks. Thank you very much for viewing my video 😊

Wow. Some nice equipment. How does the Luxman DAC sound? I'm becoming intrigued by their stuff lately.

I love the sound of the luxman DAC, as it produces a nice detailed Soundstage to my old ears 😊. There are probably some better alternatives these days but I am going to stay loyal to my luxman. Thank you very much for viewing my video

@9:43 "Nackmichi Dragon" I always wanted that tape deck. I believe it cost $2,000 back then (which is approximately $6,000 today). Its auto tape BIOS and auto azimuth functionality must be great. It would have been the ideal way to create tapes for a car stereo, or even a home compilation of songs, when you did not want to keep changing records. You also have reel-to-reel decks. That was something else that I always wanted, but was way out of my budget. With the right tapes, it is a vinyl killer!

You are correct about the reel to reel decks, if they are working properly and with a good tape they sound amazing. I have had my nakamichi dragon for about 25 years and my reel to reel decks for at least 35 years.

@@kennysaudiophilerecordreviews Although the Dragon was out of my reach, I managed to buy the CR-7A (just below the Dragon), and still have it. I believe that after 10 or 15 years, some rubber pulley part(s) hardened and crumbled, rendering the deck inoperable. As best I can recall, there was a store named Stereo Exchange, and they did repairs. I think that they charged $40, and my deck has been happy ever since. They told me that their replacement parts will never fail. Time has shown their claim to be truthful. Have you had to have your Dragon serviced?

Hello sir. I wanna buy a CD and Cassette unit, what would you recommend? I've been told the Tascam CD A580 and Teac AD-850 are good. But I wonder if this models would read both old and new CDs? Are there other units you would recommend?

Are you comfortable on that little stool? I’d have a noce comfy chair in my music room. But maybe it’s a room size issue? Maybe move those extra / spare speakers?

Lol 😊😁..Not to sound disrespectful, but I think its very funny that someone other than my wife is concerned about if I'm comfortable in a chair in my listening room, and then gives me advice on how to rearrange my room by moving speakers in my room.....to be totally honest, if the chair wasn't comfortable, then I would not be sitting on it (again, l do not want to come across disrespectful and I sincerely apologize if i do). No, it's not a room size issue, I just happened to like the chair a lot😊😁
@dsonyay

No I get it.. maybe it’s the type of camera used to film.. it seems the room is really small, and I was thinking a more comfortable chair is impossible to fit unless those large speakers in the back were removed. For me , a stool isn’t comfortable at all and I could maybe do 5 to 10 minutes before Id have to give up. .. probably just something I’m not used to. I saw a video you did in those speakers.. are they connected as well? Do you use them from time to time for certain types of music?
