Hi! Thanks for watching. While most people don't seen to mind, just a heads up if you're worried about the custom class mod - nothing is set in stone right now, and all can be updated without harming the save file. For now, I'll feel it out and take the opportunity to try out the abilities and see what I like without having to run a new game 6 times. It'll be ok, We Will Figure It Out™.

So to answer some questions: -It does lack hard counters to shields/barriers. While vanguard doesn't usually have answers for those either, armor benefits from the lack of incendiary ammo. -Squadmate powers fill the gap for stripping defenses, which will be helpful as he adjusts to how the new power shortcuts and wheel work. -Due to the way universal cooldown functions in the game, stacking adrenaline rush and tactical cloak with other powers isn't possible. They can only really synergise with the guns. -Skipping planet scanning isn't off the table, but he should experience it before he removes it. -Maxing out Renegade/Paragon has been suggested, but that would change quest outcomes or endings, which is kind of too much. -Romance mods similarly are a bit too additive in terms of the original content of the story. -Yes the Miranda ass camera mod is installed, the scene in question doesn't happen until her loyalty quest. Don't expect to see it until later in the game. -Please don't mention spoilers from Mass Effect 3 or later in the game.

I know it's Woolie's channel, but my favourite part about the ME1 playthrough was Reggie as Red, and Woolie bouncing off playing the other characters. I don't know if this can replicate the same fun. It's a shame because Red/Reggie would have had so much fun in 2.

The ultimate power move would have been to let Reggie play through the whole Normandy intro as Red, but then just exited out and declared him dead. Then, start up with Blue. Kill Reggie's Shepard to assert dominance.

I'm sure others have said this already, but the class abilities are all great, but they're mainly meant to be used in combination with, and in most cases actively benefit from having things like Pull or Push or Tech stuff like Cryo or Incinerate to combo with, I'd argue the 6 Class Abilities would be *far* less effective for an actual playthrough then combining them with their intended class powers their designed with in mind. (Things like how Singularity is actively meant to combine with other things and cause biotic explosions for example, you're just not gonna get stuff like that now, which is half the fun of the power combos.) Giving yourself some time to check out all 6 of them isn't a bad thing though! That will help you make a choice more effectively, but I can sincerely promise you only having those 6 abilities will make the game far less enjoyable to actually play. As an additional note, The guns each class gets are meant to enforce a playstyle, and you get the ability to add another Weapon to every class midway through the game, and having a maxed Weapon Select makes what's otherwise an awesome moment of Player choice in playstyle that allows you to augment your class with a new option in a way you otherwise wouldn't have is insanely cool, but would be rendered inert with every weapon unlocked, not to mention the guns in each class actively enforce a certain playstyle (Infiltrators are Snipers, Vanguards are Close Range Shotgunners ect.) and having everything would end up making you do stuff that your powerset might not be designed for. (Which would be fine if it wasn't your first run! But you might end up with habits like using certain powers in combinations with weapons they're ultimately not made for and get confused by their function.) Those are the two main things I think you should be aware of, It's your playthrough, but you'd be making moment to moment gameplay less fun overall with those two changes and I think you might end up seeing before long having all 6 powers doesn't necessarily make you "overpowered" to ignore combat, if anything it just gives you 6 very unique and cool powers that don't mesh with each other at all and benefit completely 6 different styles of combat, it's less jack of all trades master of none and more "6 cool showpieces with nothing to back them up" which would make gameplay very confusing the in the longrun outside of novelty I imagine. Either way, it's a great game, have fun!

Glad to see someone considering synergy and the functions of each power. Throw is left in for some basic low cooldown interplay, but yeah it doesn't prime on it's own. Singularity for tech explosions isn't a feature in ME2 though, where the detonation feature is weirdly isolated to warp. A truly OP build really would just be combining overload/warp as a result. Once he's actually sampled the powers in a level more representative of the game than the tutorial, stuff like cryo ammo will slide back in, we'll just see what it replaces. (And it is 5 rather 6, since 2 different squadmates have the same drone power anyway.) The guns definitely do enforce a particular playstyle, but arguably a very unpopular enforcement, and that being changed in ME3 was positively received, allowing for combinations like vanguard sniping and infiltrator shotguns that synergised very well. I'd also note that when we discussed this, the other timeline was to simply play soldier and not engage with powers beyond adrenaline rush, where all guns would have been selectable at that option anyway. Since there's only going to be one run, consider this an extended "try before you buy" of the class styles. That said, there is one new synergy, which would be assault armour specialisation plus charge. lol

Honestly the weapon training will work like if you had a solider where having the training already will let you pick up a nice special gun. So that will still be neat to see. And I think you're the first comment I've seen to point out that all 6 special powers isn't OP, cause you don't really have any synergy. Squad composition will actually be super important cause this class is gimpped. But for a first session romp to see what he likes and can choose an actual class is an ok idea.

I think the weapon discussion is moot when 3 rightly said fuck that (and 1 had the weapon training bonus powers) Also this is entirely forgetting that choice to choose additional weapons has actual weapons you can choose anyways. The lmg assault rifle being locked to soldiers was always a big negative in my eyes. In my dream mass effect 2, along with the freedom of having all squadmate missions from the beginning (like what was originally intended) I add a pistol and SMG to the weapon pool and you just choose one of the 5.

The thing that is so bizarre about that custom class mod is that it gives you a bunch of abilites that don't synergize with eachother. The unique shepard abilites are kinda meant to combo with the other abilites in that class. Like he has the vangard charge but no way to protect himself and tank enemies after he charges in. He has the stealth ability but no drones to use while in stealth etc. At the end of the day it doesn't matter THAT much since the conversations are the actual draw of this game and the combat isn't all that difficult. But I still think this class will end up making the combat a big mess. We'll see, maybe it will be fine.

Also for ME3 there is a mod for the "Citadel" DLC that replaces a certain spoiler character with other options. If you are doing mods and are switching characters I would *highly* recommend it. Will give a lot of people what they are looking for and be a hilarious wrap up. Look for the "Duel of Your Shepards" mod, you wont be disappointed. Though if you have someone that can install it for you to avoid spoilers that would be ideal.

Nothing against Mark Mier but I'm glad to hear Jen Hale again. Her performance really made Shepard a character I enjoyed. Also, glad Woolie wasn't spoiled on this opening so he could have the reaction we all had.

First of all, WOO! Whole trilogy! Secondly, MMMMMMM that opening is strong! Absolutely fucking love that intro, even though it's always tragic to watch the Normandy go down. Joker fighting to keep her afloat is just sad to listen to every time. Lastly, that "class" is busted, and this is going to be interesting. I almost wish he'd have just gone with a standard class, but I'm curious to see where this goes. I just have a feeling my sense of power synergy will be irking me throughout the entire playthrough.

With all the unique shepard abilities I think Blue is going to be hella OP. Even just having tech armour and biotic charge will likely make her insanely tough, so yeah, I foresee a need to up the difficulty... I wonder if tactical cloak will boost biotic charge damage if used beforehand...

Some feel the original had a more unique identity as a throw back to the sci-fi's of the late 20ths century and that post EA's buy out of Bioware, it became more Hollywoody and actionaized, loosing some of that personality for superfluous grittiness and cheeky one-liners. Looking back I can honestly see what they mean.

Mass Effect 2 is my favourite of the trilogy but it's also the least 'mass effect' in a sense that, well, the plot actually has nothing to do with the reapers at all (sure you have the final boss, but the collector base turns out to be a side mission because even if they finished the reaper, Arrival would still happen way, way before causing the invasion), everyone suddenly goes "ah there was no proof it was a reaper" because the plot can't work if people are aware of the turth, even though you have to imagine shepard has a helmet cam, it's less space politics and more space pirates, plus the concept of a spectre, the council, anderson, etc, all pretty much thrown away. As time goes by I think more and more that most of mass effect 3's story problems come from mass effect 2's failure to continue the story of 1 directly
