Just FYI, the police absolutely do NOT pay for the door, or for any damages done to your property while investigating a case. In fact, there’s a semi-recent story also out of australia of a family whose entire house was demolished by the swat team, who MISTAKENLY invaded the wrong house, and the police are not liable to pay for damages, so they aren’t. Doesn’t matter if they’re at the right home or not. If damage was done to your property or vehicle while conducting a criminal investigation, they have quantified immunity. They aren’t reimbursing you for anything.

@NatureLover-623 жыл бұрын
Since I grew up in Houston, I have always been one to be aware of my surroundings, it’s natural for me. Yes, I watch where I park, at night I will park directly under the lamp in the lot, I keep my doors locked at all times, including my house. We all just need to be aware of our surroundings, that’s all. No matter how many actions we take to protect ourselves, bad things can still happen.
@sassykat25873 жыл бұрын
I agree, it's good advice no matter the age too. Like he said, it's not paranoia to be aware. At times it's surprising how much you can notice just by being observant. For an example I tend to see parents just leave their kids trailing behind while coming out of a store/etc., these kids are toddler age and up... I mean, yes you can't guarantee to be mindful 24/7 and things can go wrong quickly regardless, but if something bad were to happen (not saying it should, just saying if) they will be worried sick. I would hope, anyway. It's not always about being distracted by phones either, and maybe it's where I live, but a lot of people just aren't that aware in general.

I'm not going to argue against the "Alert, Awak and Aware" thing. It sounds like a fine idea, but limiting the amount of groceries you carry and parking in specific ways is paranoia, and it is how you get stressed out over all the little things.

YASSSSS!!!! This is GREAT news! And I love your AAA advice. As a mom, I cannot STAND seeing a parent with a young child who is walking way ahead of or way behind the the child. It only takes a second for that child to vanish forever.

Thanks for caring enough to talk about Cleo’s case! I’ve been to Carnarvon before and I when I went I had my then 2 year old daughter with me and honestly had no idea of how many child sex predators live in that town. Don’t think I’ll bother to go there again if I’m on that side of Aus! I definitely cried this morning thinking of that moment that Cleo’s mum got her back in her arms. Can’t imagine the trauma that she has been through and I hope she gets all the help she needs to recover mentally and emotionally from this 💓

These stories always make me nervous about my own children. Being on the spectrum, neither really have a firm grip on stranger danger. I love your suggestion about parking where you can get out easy. I always park next to the cart corral and either back in or pull thru so I don't have to back out. Usually that means I have to park quite a ways away from the door but I'd rather walk further than risk leaving my child unattended for even a few seconds.

I just wanted to say how impressed I am on your coverage of this case and how you used it as a platform to educate people on how to be more vigilant when something happens in their area. You brought to the forefront in a very tactful way how things like this do happen and how every little detail can help. Your coverage was very considerate of the family and only known details. Thank you and please keep doing stories like this. Awareness is important.

I agree with the whole Awake, Alert, and Aware. I knew someone who went to a resort with her kids and instead of being Awake, Alert, and Aware about her kids, she focused on fixing the food on the table that her 5 year old drowned 30 feet away from her. Now she's living with regret. I'm always alert when I see toddlers running around at the mall while their parents not giving a shit. Although I seem like a creep by watching strange kids, I want to make sure they're not picked up by a random person.
