i need to say the mother was so lucky, me i stayed for years n lost my boy kidnapped, now i just hope God will keep him alive, i had other friends mothers from Europe who lost their child in Mauritius

I haven't read the book , but Sally Field was outstanding in the part of Betty. All those others as well. There were so many that risk their own lives helping her to get back with her daughter. God bless them all. If you haven't seen the movie , I have watched it every time it has aired. This young woman and her mother , such strong women to have endured all they went through. They endured unimaginable trials to gain their freedom and get safely back home. Let this be a lesson:There is NOTHING on this earth a Mother won't due to protect her child.NOTHING. Betty getting Mahtob safely back home on American soil could have easily cost her, her life in that barbaric country but she still took a chance and put her daughter first, because she knew she couldn't let her beautiful child grow up in those awful circumstances. Based on what her mother said, she points out the different cultures...these days, we aren't even allowed to say that. I'm in the UK and we aren't, as we allow terrorists in and give immediate asylum, whereas others have to fight for a visa. This movie should be a reminder to many that more than 'cultural differences' in completely different religions where killing and beatings with no rights for women are the norm...
