Fun tank! For my Gobies, I have the powrhead going flow higher for 2 hrs in morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. Otherwise, I just have the canister filter flow across the tank. That schedule seems to get them out and about more often. Mine bury themselves in the sand out in the flow when it's going high. Mine are the Taiwanese micro Gobies, so live and frozen foods, but reportedly true freshwater species (no marine period in their life cycle). Fascinating to see the differences and similarities...but they all have so much character :)

I think that should be our end goal. We should aim to better nature, not merely mindlessly copy it. That obviously requires a lot of knowledge and understanding, much of which we don't yet have, but I firmly believe in that vision and end goal. Aquariums are great tools for modeling, simulating and understanding nature, not to mention creating awareness and public interest 🙂

Look up some videos of underwater shots in freshwater habitats. There are many if you take some time to look. To me, even a natural pool overgrown with algae covered in sediment looks breathtaking in natural light. The variety in natural colours and textures is hard to even come close to.

@@Fishtory I throw in green beans and zucchini for the snails and theyll show some interest on that and grab frozen brine or flake sometimes when that was being fed. But in the 2 years I've had em they seem to eat off what's growing on surfaces, primarily. Constant grazers. The tank purposely gets way too much light and some natural sun to encourage lots of algae.

Loved it Alex fantastic little dudes! I would really like to get some Goby's and was thinking of getting some bumblebee goby's for my tank here in Australia, do you know much about them? My tank is a 3 foot long (175 L) sorry don't understand your tank terminology ha ha! It has 4 small Yellow chichlids about 1&1/2 -2 inches) 3 clown loaches (about 3 inches) two Pictus catfish (super quiet & around 4 inches) & (currently) 1 female German Blue ram( planning to get 1 or 2 more) Do you think I could run Goby's in it? I am considering trading in the Clown loaches but haven't decided yet. None of the fish I have fight with each other or show any bad behavior. Cheers bud, Love the Channel!
