I was pushed and made to do it again immediately. The second time though, I was prepared and the fear was gone. Don't give up no matter the how hard you might think it is, but it builds character and teaches you to work as a team.
@ainadabalos477
@ainadabalos477 4 жыл бұрын
She’s right about everything. Talk less, listen. Don’t talk back and try to explain yourself. Just do what you’re told. And the emphasis she’s put on getting pushed back is good advice. Don’t go to bootcamp not being able to run your passing time. You only get 3 tries before you’re separated. If you do get ASMO’d up to your 3rd try, that’s like a month more of stay in bootcamp on top of the quarantines you could possibly get if you become exposed to positive cases while in bootcamp. A lot of people are staying in bootcamp longer now than they have to not only because of the run but also because of positive COVID cases leading to an entire division getting pushed back in training. You might not have control over covid affecting your stay in bootcamp but passing your final run is something you have control over. I cannot emphasize that enough

This video is very helpful. My husband is in Navy boot camp right now. He left September 1st. And it's so hard to do any research about boot camp because of all the new Covid rules. Before he arrived in Chicago, he had to go to Wisconsin and be quarantined for two weeks.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about your setback, but I'm glad you pushed through & saw the light at the end of the tunnel. I was like thiiiiiiis close 👌🏾 to going to medical when I had leg pains, then I went to the chapel & heard others' testimonies on how they've been held back for months because of medical & PFA failures. Best wishes to the people still trying to make it out of RTC. It's true what they say, the fastest way out is to graduate. Thanks for sharing. Subbed!

i don’t agree with that, i got asmo’d into seps and got out WAY before my division graduated, but i sat at RTC for 2 months just because of covid, the whole quarantine, isolation and rom thing is also extending the stay there 🙄

As an ASMO, I will say, if you fail the initial PFA and go to step, you don’t get asmod unless you fail all 3 chances. It’s not an automatic setback.

I respect you for what you had to go thru. It sucks when all you get is push back when u want things to work out. I haven’t been to boot yet (ship Oct.19th) I was in the dep with the marines about a year & was on track to ship but before I could I got disqualified due to medical. I know the frustration of getting docs for your stuff. Now I’m back with the navy cleared✨ and I know it’ll be challenging but I’m excited, gotta thank God for giving me endurance to push thru cause it gets tiring. ive wanted to join the Navy for two years now. i want to do something impactful and i want to make a name for myself. i have really bad anxiety and so much is wrong and chaotic in my life right now. on one hand i just want to enlist and go for it, but on the other there is so much personal stuff keeping me from being able to do that right now. i just want to belong somewhere and have connections with people and create awesome friendships and make a difference. like i said i have really bad anxiety, and i am doing everything i can to deal with it, but i dont know if i can go on a plane without having a horrible anxiety attack, i dont want to put other peoples lives in danger because of my “weaknesses”, but i also really want to join. its so hard, wanting to do something like become a Navy Sailor and feeling like it may never happen. I really enjoyed this video, youre so nice and intelligent. I appreciate you and your courage for enlisting in a time like this and I hope you have a phenomenal career and life. Thank you for all the service you will do and all the sacrifices you will make for this country. even if I cant join, im happy to know someone like you is somewhere in our disfunctional world, spreading your energy and light and protecting America! 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙.

The reason why I am joining is because I am almost 21, no college, deadbeat job, and no license. I know realistically.. joining the military is the only way I’m going to be able to get my life together quick. I’m too lazy for college, and I’m scared of debt, too lazy to work more hours, and I just want a challenge. I also deal with anxiety, but that is because I know I’m wasting my life away pondering what to do with it, and not actually going out and doing shit!! Just do it man. You don’t want to be old and think back and regret not joining. Just do it my friend, we are in the same boat!

Love the video. I’m going back in. I left in Jan and came back home in Feb and found out that I have sickle cell trait while I was in boot camp. I was so sick and congested when I took the pfa. They said I can come back in a few months so I’m starting the process with my recruiter all over again lol. At least I know what to expect. I had my wisdom teeth pulled since I’ve been home. I will not be experiencing that in boot camp lol

Hey! I too have sickle cell trait and it affected me so much! I also got sick with pneumonia and my RDC'S basically set me up for failure after ignoring my requests to be held back to fully heal (was sent to FHCC). I have been wanting to go back myself. Can you tell me how the process goes? Do you do it all over again?
@tarabeeeeee
@tarabeeeeee 4 жыл бұрын
Just here Hey and oh wow. I feel like some people are so mean and at that point they’ll try to set you up for failure. When my RDC’s found out they honestly didn’t care. They were so concerned about seeing if everyone was “ fit for full duty “to do the pt test. I found out the day of the pt test about me having the trait ( SAME day my RESULTS CAME BACK 😬 , I was also sick and they still made me run. IF your ASVAB score is still good and didn’t expire ( it expires after 3 years ) then you will start the process over again. -Your recruiter will need all your paperwork you received from basic training prior to leaving boot camp which has your RE code on it ( basically your DISCHARGE PAPERWORK). Your RE code basically determines if you can go back in to the military for ANY branch. They should’ve explained your RE code to you before leaving but IF they didn’t your recruiter will tell you. My RE basically says that I can rejoin after 6 months and as a requirement of joining I have to take a monitored pt test. My ASVAB score did expire lol so I’m currently waiting for someone at Meps to sign off on my re submitted paperwork so my recruiter can have me take the ASVAB again , go to meps , pick a rate , get a ship date. - And I also had to get a letter from veteran affairs stating that I don’t and didn’t receive ANY veteran benefits. ( I found that to be odd ) but my recruiter was saying that it’s something new that they’re doing. You would have to call the number , tell them that you were in basic training but didn’t complete it and your recruiter needs a paper stating that you never received any veteran benefits. ( the paper I received stating that was emailed to me the same day). Since I left at the beginning of the year all of my initial paperwork at my recruiters office was still in the system ( like my dep in weight , ASVAB old test score and etc. ) I was also told that when I go back that I’m allowed to bring multi vitamins. I take them at home and had no clue about the trait. I felt like since Chicago was so cold and I didn’t have vitamins.. and they wouldn’t give me any until I passed the pt test .. my immune system went downhill from there lol - If you have any more questions my IG is: iamtierraaa_brew .. 😂😂 I know it’ll prob getting annoying talking back and forth in her KZbin comments. I know I would get annoyed lol

Just here I forgot to mention that I also had my wisdom teeth removed since I’ve been home. Which is a good idea 💡because when I was in basic I didn’t get them removed because I didn’t go to dental. So now I don’t have to worry about it when I go back and since I was home I had enough time to heal. And my dentist stitched up the hole and I heard that people had terrible experiences in basic after getting theirs removed. “ dry socket “ is real lol

How did having sickle cell trait hinder you? I have it too but I live normally, I don’t experience any problems
@tarabeeeeee
@tarabeeeeee 3 жыл бұрын
@@jaylove1931 I didn’t know I had it UNTIL I went to basic training and had blood work done on the day we received our shots. I received the FLU shot before I left basic training back home and AGAIN at basic training. I told them that I already had the flu shot but they said I didn’t have paperwork for proof. ( my recruiter told me that I didn’t have to bring it ). So therefore I received the flu shot TWICE: 1. At home 2. In basic training. The next day we had to take the PFA ( running , push-ups , sit-ups ) and I couldn’t breath properly because I was sick and coughing up mucus.I went to medical to see if they could give me anything before the run and the doctor said NO, NOT until you pass the run. I’m a nose breathing when running and I use my mouth occasionally. Being sick messed me up during the run and the RDC’s didn’t care. All they cared about is if I was “ fit for full duty” which I was because my blood count or whatever from the test was good.

Zack Goodman i would say it was both easier and more difficult. When I arrived I had been at the hotel for two weeks (which I don’t think they’re doing anymore, I believe you get ROM’d at RTC) then we had like a 2 day interval between arriving there & actually doing night of arrival. So the day we got to the hotel we put everything in our box because the guys before us were the ones who got our phones taken up so we were the first ones that it actually took an affect on. But it gets held on base in storage (& you do pay for that btw).

surferdude the crazy thing about it all with this virus going on is that things change on the daily. Because they’re still trying to figure out the safest way to get everyone through boot camp. People still pop positive during basic. Idk how much I’m actually allowed to talk about all of this but....just be prepared for things to change really quick. There’s a big part of boot camp that you’re not able to do now that a lot of people got upset about- me included. But you will still be trained. Also if you’re good with dealing with stress try out for leadership roles!!
@BaNgInHeAdS
@BaNgInHeAdS 4 жыл бұрын
Thinking long term, when you get out of the military, you should try and go to medical for everything. You are going to want that X% of service caused disability from the VA when you are done. I get it though. You want to get through RTC as fast as you can. Even if I went back for some reason I still probably wouldn't go to medical until I got to A school.

With the swimming portion you mentioned that you had to prone float on your back, but everyone I’ve heard from says it’s on your stomach. Which one is it? I hope it’s on your back now because I do a lot better with that. The swimming is the only thing I’m worried about right now. I ship July 23

It will be on your back If you fail the first time ( get pulled out of the water after the first jump). If you pass the swim on your first jump then you will do the prone float on your stomach, face down. They allow you to do it on your back because that’s how they teach you to swim

No. The rdcs will NOT be counting your pu and su lol. Another recruit will be counting them for you. All they tell the rdc is how much you did. The rdcs don’t really be hovering over everyone. They kinda just sit and watch until it’s time to run. Some of them will be running with y’all. It’s going to be a big GROUP doing them at time same time. My poor brother wanted to be a sailor so bad since he was little. He couldn't wait to join the Navy. Right out of High School he enlisted. The only problem was, he wasn't that bright. He barely made the grades to graduate High School as it was. My parents sensed he probably wouldn't make it and even tried talking him out of enlisting. Sure enough, he was set back several times because of the academic part of the training. They discharged him. =(
