I'm sorry but Jesse is wrong. If you score 4 goals in a game, you absolutely got a hat trick. If a player has scored 3 goals halfway through the game, they have gotten a hat trick. Scoring the 4th goal later on doesn't negate the fact that the player got a hat trick. We don't wait to throw our hats on the ice until the end of the game, as soon as that 3rd goal goes in its hat trick time. And we don't all go get our hats back if the player scores another one after that. For any achievement that is judged instantaneously, Jesse is wrong. For any achievement that is judged at a set time, Jesse's argument works. For the baseball analogy, we judge what happened at the end of the play. If you got a home run, we don't say you got a single, double, triple, and home run because those aren't things you achieve as soon as you cross the base, they are decided after the play is done.

As a Coyotes fan from Phoenix (yes we exist) I don't know a single person who would ever trust THIS ownership group again after they lied directly to our faces, nor would any fans support them after years of being told, "Just wait. Everything will be good soon." & then having the rug pulled out from under us. Absolute betrayal!
@nolananderson47827 ай бұрын
I've never understood the NHL's obsession with Meruelo as an owner. It's been nothing but organizational failure after organizational failure since he's had the team. Remember, the Coyotes didn't choose to leave Glendale -- Glendale kicked them out. Delinquency on state taxes, the prospect testing scandal, getting massively outspent campaigning for the Tempe arena, this hotel bill thing.... When all of this is happening, it has to come down to the guy at the top. If the NHL comes back to Phoenix under Meruelo it's just gonna fail again. If they find a different owner, they've got a chance.
@PDXKing997 ай бұрын
If I’m them I’d talk with the Suns owner again, I know he didn’t want to buy the team but that could be because of Meruelo being untrustworthy. Hockey can work in Arizona especially with how popular it is in youth hockey but they can’t put their faith in Meruelo and company to redo this in 5 years

It's crazy that consecutive headlines we discussed on this episode were "Alex Meruelo gets first dibs on the next expansion" and "The Coyotes haven't been paying their hotel bills." How is this guy allowed such privileged status, let alone part of future ownership consideration at all? It's a clown show franchise and he's the head clown. He's been in charge of the entire sharp end of the organization's decline, from when they got kicked out of Glendale for not paying rent through the failed Tempe referendum to where they are now. Who has jerked around this fan base and this market more than him? For all I hear about how good Bettman is at picking owners, how he always wants to be in the right market with the right owner, this is his man?

Not even theory, a number of double hat tricks have been scored in the NHL. The most recent was Darryl Sittler in 1976. As someone who has been watching hockey twice as long as Jesse has been alive, when someone scores a hat trick they always announce it as a hat trick and the hats rained down. That is an accomplishment that is celebrated FOR WHAT IT IS right at that moment FOR WHAT THE ACCOMPLISHMENT IS ( A HAT TRICK )!!! It is an event in time that doesn't get erased if the player scores another goal - or more. Even after the game is long over it gets described, numerous times, as so and so scored a hat trick and added X more. A more interesting argument is what special name do you give to a four goal night? A five goal night? A six goal night? Silly Jesse.
