This puppy love conversation is making me laugh. He likes her for her hair which is why he invited her out for sweet potato, but she likes another boy because he's much nicer than Tanzir, lol. Tanzir is not a bad kid. A bit cocky and bratty, but aren't most kids at that age? He knows he can get away with certain things with his mom, probably because the main disciplinarian was the dad, whose out of the picture right now. The mom is working hard, but she can only do so much for both of them to stay afloat living in SK. I wonder if the dad sends money to them to help out with the expenses even just a bit. I do consider Tanzir Korean though. He might be visibly a foreigner (a Bangladeshi), but he was born there, grew up there, immersed in the Korean culture that surrounds him and speaks the language both at home and outside. He might not look it nor be easily accepted by others that he is, but he is Korean culturally, mentally, linguistically. On the other hand, ideally, he would be better off knowing his ethnicity's culture and language for his life would be richer. Too bad that's not the case here, but it's not too late for him. He just needs more urging in that direction. The mother, although it's already hard on her, just need to be persistent in this cause. The boy will resist because in his mind, he doesn't need to be nor want to be different that the other kids. He can't see nor appreciate yet that belonging to two cultures. having the knowledge and grasp of two-three languages is a positive in his life, not seen as a negative in the long run.

Yes, it is not Tanzir's fault for thinking himself as a Korean, he is Korean technically as he was born and raised in Korea, but he's Bangladeshi, and on top of that he's a Muslim. Since Koreans are mostly non-Muslim, he could probably live the lifestyle of a Korean like eating porks when his mother is not around and not performing his solah. I pity his mother who raised him alone despite their poor condition, yet he barely listens to his mother and often have different opinion with his mother, like when it comes to meal. As a Muslim, I feel sad when he said that he does not want to learn Quran and pray. It must be very frustrated for his mom. Anyways, I hope Tanzir will slowly find his root and try to know about Bangladesh for his mom sake :)

I honestly don't believe Tanzir is spoiled. All the attention from people around him since he will be on TV and his age played a big part in his behavior. He was just trying to act 'cool' in a 12 year old boy-ish way. It must be hard on him to be pulled back and forth between two different cultures. IMHO they should move as soon as possible to Spain or back to Bangladesh as 1 family. The longer they wait, the more attached Tanzir will be to Korea, and the harder it will be for him to leave!

If anything I'm quite like Tanzir (except I would never act as spoilt at times) where my parents are from India and I was born and raised in England. I've always considered myself British but as I grew older i learnt to appreciate my Indian heritage a lot more and wished I payed more attention when I was younger and the same thing may happen to Tanzir. It may not feel like to him rn but it is really great to be part of 2 cultures! And he can keep his Korean lifestyle while being Muslim too!

I feel so sorry for them..as I can understand their feeling...tanzir is a Korean ..but his parents are Bangladeshi...the conflicts of their soul... painful.

the kid's too korean lol. It's like he knows he probably won't be fully accepted as a korean by society so he's overcompensating
@nicol.77384 жыл бұрын
enima He’s not overcompensating, he just grew up in Korea so he’s accustomed to Korean food, Korean culture, Korean ways etc. I think you’re just projecting your own stereotype about Korean society onto this young child. I grew up under Korean parents in the US and refused to eat Korean food and took no interest in the language, culture, etc. It wasn’t because I had some deep, subconscious knowledge that I won’t be accepted into society and was trying to overcompensate. Rather, I just assimilated to the culture I’m living in and my tastes automatically molded to that culture. As his mother explained, he’s been subjected to purely Korean culture since he was in nursery school. If he went to a Bangladeshi pre-school or something I’m sure he’d appreciate the food and be more used to the idea of being Muslim. Kids are simple-minded and no elementary school student wants to deal with juggling cultural duality and shit like that. They just want to fit in and eat, play, talk etc. like everyone around them.

what in the actual- he was raised in korea of course he’s part of the korean society, if he isn’t part of the society he will be an outcast and that’s the shittest thing ever just like this weird comment with 170 likes for no valid reason lol

I think it's great that he loves Korean dishes but he needs to show more of that interest in his native foods as well. If I was the mother, I wouldn't cook two different dishes every night. He is the child. You tell him what he is going to eat. He doesn't pay any bills, he's a child. He better realize how blessed he is to have a meal every night. I'm American and the food that she cooked from her native land looked so good. I understand it is hard for him since his father has been deported but you don't make it hard your mother who is doing everything she can to raise you.

+yumiko0017 His age is just that age where kids are rebellious and cheeky. You can tell he loves his mother but it's not the same as a father's control. As for his mom making extra dishes, he's all she has, essentially. If he gets upset and ignores her, it's even sadder. If he's all she has, I think the doting makes sense. As for realizing how blessed he is, he's 12 years old. I'm American and at 12 years old I was spoiled rotten with no idea how the world worked or how blessed I was. Can't expect more from him, despite the fact that he seems smarter and more aware than most 12 year olds I know.

Maya is such beautiful and outstanding lady ,she works really hard for son , and as for tanzir ,he is just a kid hitting his puberty and a teenager , my sister tantrums are worse than his is , that's how kids react nowadays but considering that he was born in Korea , it has always been his hometown and the world that he has since he was born, he will understand his mother when he will grow up and the sacrifices his parents made for him , i really think he is good kid .

I agree that he is a spoiled but honestly at that age I was too. I was also a picky eater and I grew out of it. I think alot of his behaviour has to do with them not understanding each other. As much as his mother may not want him to be so "korean" he can't help it. He is Korean. He was born and raised in korea. Of course he identifies more with the culture. Also it probably doesn't help that he is constantly being pressured and told that he should be going to the mosque more. They are pushing him to be more Muslim when the only exposure he has to the religion and their culture is in a foreign country where it's not as big. The only person he really spends time with is his mother and everyone else around him is Korean and not Muslim. When I was that I age I hate going to church and catechism. My mom and grandma made me go and it made me hate it more because it was being pushed on me.

12 years old and still picky about food when his mother is barely making ends meet... If that cameraman wasn't there with him at 38:00, Tanzir would have eaten that pork 100%
@L._m._p.8 жыл бұрын
exactly. Well be it Bangladeshi or not, Muslims are prohibited to eat pork, and since 80% of the population in Bangladesh are Muslims, pork is not found here in local markets but yeah you can find pork which is only eaten by the Christians and Buddhists in our country. Muslims, Hindus don't eat pork in our country. Tanzir should know about his religion, culture and language.

+TanMeeNator Slayer but it's his religion, I'm sure Christians or other religions have their own dos and donts......
@violetposy56938 жыл бұрын
+TanMeeNator Slayer The preaching isn't necessary. The mother was raised in an Islamic culture. All religions pass on their beliefs to their kids. When he gets older and wiser and wants to make a shift to something else perhaps, then that's fine, but right now there's nothing wrong with the mother encouraging him to follow the Islamic beliefs. Her approach is admirable even, she's doing it gently without pushing her son too much. It's nice that you feel comfortable but you can't go to every Christian, Jew, Muslim in the world and be like "Why?"
@violetposy56938 жыл бұрын
***** That's a religion versus secularism debate and I don't think that's particularly suited for a youtube comment forum nor will the right answer appear here. In the end, that's just the way the human race has been functioning for centuries. You may think that's wrong and I won't say that you're not right, but it's too deeply embedded into people's traditions to try to change it now, be in the ways of Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, etc. In this case, though, I think I'd have to say the kid doesn't seem much of a Muslim since he abstains from praying, eats pork, and doesn't read their holy book. I think your desire that the kid not follow Islam is being granted by the kid himself in the video. Hope this came off as unaggressive lol and more just explanatory. Peace and bye bye :)

+luckydude424 His parents and his parent's friends should leave the boy alone. Obviously he's become more Korean than Bangladesh, with good reasons too. Muslim countries don't have any freedom, that's why so many of them are refugees all over the world. He shouldn't be forced to choose the Muslim religion when he doesn't want to practice it. Nobody should be forced to be brainwashed. I'm glad the boy has a good head on his shoulder who don't blindly obey what he's told to do.

I do sense a feeling of embarrassment coming from the hosts when they talk about those kids who made fun of Tanzir. Those kids aren’t innocent, they LEARN from their parents. Kids are not dumb, they know when something is right and when something is wrong. If kids can learn right and wrong they can learn racism and bias too. These hosts don’t want people thinking Koreans are raised to be racist but some kids are and it’s ok to point that out.

Her son doesn't cry when they talk about his dad whereas his mom does. I think it's a good thing in some ways... Although I'm worried he may be keeping things inside him. He's not a bad son since he does indirectly help his mom take her mind off stressful things

Your nationality can change but your ethnicity and race can’t. I’m a Bengali but I was raised in the US and am a citizen of this country. Though I may not know how to read or write Bengali, I’m fluent in the language. My parents never allowed me to speak English at home so I won’t forget my roots. They always made sure that I understood the difference between nationality and ethnicity. They are very strict with my religion as well. Honestly I’m so grateful for having such strict parents because I almost never doubted my background. And it’s really importantbexause this poor kid doesn’t know how to react properly to his confusion.
