The boy did more for Levi than he can imagine. I’m an old(er) lady so I don’t play with my dogs too much. My Shepard loves it when a kid shows up to play. One of the neighbor kids loves playing with my dog so I usually give him a candy bar or cookies when he’s ready to go home. It incourages him to come often and my dog is so happy.

Thanks for this. I used to climb into my neighbor's yard as a kid to play with her dog. (She had rheumatoid arthritis and couldn't really keep up with the dog's energy.) The dog and I became extremely close, and the neighbor often asked me to care for her when she was away. We got to be friends as I got older. As I type this, 30 years later, I'm getting ready to attend that neighbor's funeral this afternoon. Thank you for bringing back a happy memory when I needed it.

Same here. The dog was called Wadey and she followed us kids everywhere. It was only as an adult that I realised the dog was actually called Lady and the person who told us her name had a speech defect ❤ She's still Wadey in my thoughts though!

That is just the sweetest thing. I love it when that happens! The kids in my neighborhood used to come down and ask if my dog could come out and play in the snow. He was an 80 pound German Shepherd-Lab and he absolutely loved the snow! The kids that lived down the street we’re not allowed to have any pets so coming down to play with my dog with such a delight!

He really likes that kid. Levi would have been good in a home with kids, but all his issues would have been hard on a family and they may have not been able to keep him. Rescues in Levi's situation need a lot of time and therapy, also how he was really sick when she first got him. I'm glad he's got a neighbor kid to hang out with.

reminds me of my childhood 🥹 my family moved into a new home when i was 9, and there was this couple next door that had the sweetest pitbull named tyson. they let us see him whenever we wanted. so my sister and i used to ring their doorbell on the weekends to ask if they could let tyson out to play. they'd bring him out and we'd just play out in their front yard. 😭 such a sweet memory.

I'm guessing they were friends with Levi and owner already. The neighbor knew the dog was safe and it was OK to go in the yard next door, as did his mother. You don't do that otherwise.

I used to jump the Lil chain link fence between our yard and our neighbors just to play with Nick the Keshound! He was amazing! Our neighbors were quite elderly back then. But Nick was just a pup when I was tweening/teening. Such a good boy! So much fun to play with. He was an awesome dog!!!❤❤❤

it was 1982 & winter had dropped some snow. We were off from school & a husky came from nowhere and played with us most of the day. Not knowing where he was from we took him in and had him for a week or 2. Mom was not happy. Eventually his owner was found & realized that 6' fence could not contain him. Rinse and repeat coming home from school to my pup on the front doorstep waiting for us. My father eventually convinced the owner to sell him to us. Those were memorable times.
