Fellow ES300 owner here. You bought the best edition of the 3rd generation ES, congrats and enjoy it!
@thagerdorn20092 жыл бұрын
I've had 5 of these cars. I absolutely love them. They are dead reliable, super comfortable and great driving cars. In 99, they had the Coach edition with the Coach leather and special wheels which were only on the 99 Coach and they never used them again. Then in 2000, they had the Platinum Series which was a one year only. Then in 2001 for the final year, they had the Coach edition again and it had the same wheels from the platinum series. There was one option that most people never ordered and that's the Nakamichi sound system. It blows the standard pioneer out of the water. My 99 Coach had it, and my current platinum series has it. They are the only two I've ever seen with the nakamichi. That's a big reason I bought my platinum because it's such a rare car being a one year only platinum and nakamichi. The platinum package was over 3k dollars and the nakamichi was also over 3k dollars which is why a lot of people never ordered it with it. I also had a 98 with 451k miles original engine and trans, service records to the moon from the dealer and mostly highway. I had 2 2001s same color and both suffered from the dreaded knock sensor issue. The 451k mile car was back in 2016 and it's still on the road today. I believe all are still on the road. My dad donated the 99 Coach to his church and I don't know where it is now. For everyone who says this is a rebadged Camry...you're VERY wrong. There is hardly anything that's the same as a Camry and it's not the same chassis as well. They share a few parts but Lexus vehicles back in the day were made with quality and development and research and care.
@buschtrout14993 ай бұрын
Would you happen to know the cause of the knock sensor issue? Love this car but that issue alone has been an eek the last two years I’ve owned this vehicle. Btw thanks for your input on the Nakamichi sound system. I’m about to look into this right now.
@thagerdorn20093 ай бұрын
@@buschtrout1499 I don't know for sure the root cause of the knock sensor issue. I've heard that the harnesses get damaged, but the sensors just fail. You can buy the OEM sensors(I believe they are denso) with the harnesses for really cheap. They aren't the easiest thing to do, but it's well worth it. Because they go into like a limp mode when there's a code for the knock sensor. These cars are so comfortable and I'm already looking for another one as the one I had when I made the original comment I sold. I'm not an expert on any car, but I do know a thing or two. So if I can help in any way I will do my best to

I agree with savysac. You got a really good price. I bought mine in 2013 with 93k miles on it for $7,000 incl. tax/fees. Year 2000 Platinum Edition with the Nakamichi sound. Prior to this one I had the same exact car/trim but with 126k miles (insurance ponied up $5,500 after declaring total loss)

Was running good Until the AC Light coming on. Under Your hood the Fuse and Relay Box looks just like mine. I pray it is Only the MG-CLT Relay is All I will Need.
