I bought a 2019 Rad Rover toward the beginning of 2019 and have never even gotten it up to 20 MPH. Not because it won't go there, but because I use my bike in the California Mojave Desert on sand trails and going that fast over powder sand is an invitation for a crash. I bought the bike for the quietness of it's ride. Friends of mine call it my stealth mode. The 2019 Rad Rover is a great bike, and I enjoy mine completely. At a price of $1499, with free shipping right to my front gate, it beats many of the other E bikes on the market hands down.

Nice couple of tricks with that hidden menu. I just got the 2020 Rad Rover 5. I felt fortunate since they're on back-order. My order went to them just as the virus was hitting so it (the order) must have sat at the front end of their process flow. It took a bit more than a month to get it. I understand they've a huge back-order log right now. Anyway....the bike came in. I have to say the manufacturing was completely on the mark. My godson and I put it together in under 20 minutes, and we're having a ball (though it's really a gift to him for his 16th B-day). I must say it's a beast of a machine, and a sign as to how advanced EV tech is getting. Living in an urban environment I consider it a perfect solution to "going mobile." ;-) Thanks for the video. I like that phone mount. Will get one. Regards! John~ American Net'Zen

2:49 The standard light displays an isosceles trapezoid of focused light. The light is meant to be pointed up to cast that trapezoid further away where it gets bigger with distance. The standard light however is not bright enough for this purpose. The new Premium headlight they offer is 500 lumens and is bright enough for this purpose, although, the instructions say to point it DOWN which it's NOT designed for. It's meant to be cast very far away, which is what you want when you're going much faster on the bike and need to see further away, sooner. However the focused beam only shines light on a smaller area and is not very good when it's pitch black at night, with no street lights. I use a 4000 lumens light to distribute light more evenly, while the Premium light is able to light up the road further away with better detail. Both or individually they are blinding to vehicles on the street or people on nature trails, unfortunately.

When you're doing much over 20, power to the motor is cut. The downhill top speed had lower wattage and looked like it was mostly due to your pedal power, not the assist. The governor cuts the power. I tried an RR6 and a Mini 4. Easily hit 28 on the RR6 down a hill. Pushing a little harder, I hit 32 on the Mini 4 on the same hill. ^.^

People have claimed in forums that they've installed 4.8" tires, but RadPower officially stated in an email to me that the bike can't accept more than 4.0" fat tires due to rubbing in the bike frame. I've looked at various different fat tires, and I was considering the Origin8 Supercell because it has a smoother tread and doesn't wear down as fast on pavement, but also provides far superior grip than the Juggernauts the bike comes with. (They also have puncture resistance) The only problem is they are very difficult to find, so far I've only seen them on Amazon but they're "currently unavailable."

Just upped the speed on my RadCity yesterday and I have to say, rider weight and load will certainly effect the results dramatically. I'm on the heavier end, and with a good load I struggle to get over 24 MPH on level roads, but on a downhill last night I hit 30.2. Very exciting. Anyways, every Rad Ebike owner should be aware of this menu. Without upping the limit it can be frustrating to feel your bike hit a wall so suddenly and begin to fight against you.
@hautehussey3 жыл бұрын
You’re reaching the max! The bike could probably move you faster but it’s capped at that!
@Kattbirb3 жыл бұрын
@@hautehussey It's a matter of safety to ride at that max for me. When riding alongside traffic it gives you so much more leeway when you can hit the speed limits of the streets around one's home. Here's hoping the RadCity 5 is a class 3 Ebike that has pedal assist to 28 MPH.

Then was glad I changed out the front chainring ( Amazon 48 tooth VXM 104BCD Chainring). Easy to swap it out, especially after watching a KZbin gent do the same on his rover. But I went with a larger size than him, a 48 tooth is about the largest, and the chain guards still retain the chain. Now I don't pedal like a mad man when doing over 20mph. Still wish I'd got this bike though since I've found out quickly that Aventon gives 2 shits about there customers after you purchase from them. My Aventon is only a week old and gears haven't worked properly from day one and now my rear rotor has a groove in it meaning it already needs replacing. This is on a bike with less than 50 miles on it!!! Aventon C.S is nonexistent!! Be aware to anyone thinking of buying from this company. I'm basically on my own now and have to take my NEW Aventon aventure ebike that less than a week old to a bike shop to get gears working properly and replace rear rotor. Not a happy camper. Wish I'd went with the RADbikes instead. Lessons learned. But I will make damn sure I let everyone know just how messed up Aventon CS is and to avoid them. After getting off the phone with my local bike shop ,I was told I'll be almost $200+ in by the time they get my bike in safe working conditions. Rear cassette was installed wrong from manufacturer and now I also need new cassette !!!! I will fix the Aventon but soon as there down basically rebuilding the bike I will sell it and get something else. Stay clear of Adventure bikes and the Aventon ebike period!! It's a money pit.

On your speed test with menu switch to higher speed allowed, the gps says you are going 5mph faster then the RadRover indicates (27 vs 22). That is a huge difference and inaccuracy! I believe this is because you have your wheel size set incorrectly (to 28). These are 26" wheels. That would explain the 5mph differential.
