I went with the 250f because I’m not a fan of the wide ratio even in the woods that first is useless. None the less such an amazing platform Yamaha is killing it!

I strongly dislike the yamaha 250 for offroad. The gears are very close together, the stock clutch is a cable clutch, and I find the 250 power totally inadequate after being on a 350 for several years. I hated the 2019-2023 chassis as it got me in trouble in the woods a number of times. That chassis can be made to turn, but it never likes to turn. The GYTR brembo clutch is the way to go for manual clutch guys. Faster guys tend not to like the 2025 chassis as much in the desert, The new chassis is a much easier to turn, but I just dont mesh with it.

I sat on a ‘25 WR250F this past weekend. I know just what I’d do if I bought it. A good way to soften the seat is to lightly sand the foam. By removing the surface, skin-like, layer you open up the cells and increase the effective surface area which will make the first bit of the foam more compliant, which makes it feel softer. All it costs is a little time and a few staples.

We’ve been through dozens of bikes mostly second hand junkers that I worked on and kept limping along. Now that my boys all work and we have the finances to do so we all have newer nicer bikes. I look at it if you enjoy it and have the money, use it.
