Love the video (as I do all of them). I recommend your channel a lot. One bit of feedback, I really hope you don't stop using your classic system on your channel. Your channel really helped get me back into the hobby, and a big part was that it helped demonstrate the use of the simple (and inexpensive) equipment. When I recommend channels to newer brewers or people curious about the hobby, I always recommend yours specifically because of its elegance with basic equipment...which is really encouraging for new folks. All that said, I hope you love brewing on the clawhammer system and I can't wait to get mine!

I will do some of both, and of course, all my old videos will still be on my channel as well! When I brew off-site or in my backyard I still need to use propane or natural gas. So there will be opportunities.

Welcome to the clawhammer club! The new improvements theyve been grafually making to the system are awesome - like the raised volume markings! IMO I don't really recommend using the basket as a hop spider. Every time I've tried that its gotten SUPER clogged.

I found that out... After I made this video. I can confirm, it definitely does clog.. a lot! Lol

I think you might find brew days and filming will be a lot smoother, or at least a lot less to worry about. Looking forward to see what you brew up.

I have three beers filmed, just need to edit and get them out! Plus I'm doing a live Brew Day on February 1st, toasted coconut porter!

As of right now I’m using an Anvil 10.5. It’s really good and I like it but I really like the modular design of the Clawhammer and I think I’m gonna buy it. I like they have payment plans too with Affirm I believe. It feels good to downsize on equipment and have stuff streamlined. I do think it’s good practice though to brew with coolers and stuff. Builds character 😅

💯 agree. Start out then grow as you get more into the hobby. You learn a lot! 🍻

Thanks for the video Dennis. I have their 20g 240V system and I love it. Looking forward to your brew videos with the new setup 🍻

Boil on 240 vs 120 is next level. I run an anvil at 120 and boil is always at 100%. Those using it on 240 tell me they can’t really go above 50%. I’ll put a 240 plug in when I get room.

@ My Anvil isn't bad but I love the controller setup and wide basket.

Yeah it's really a great system. Took me a few brews but I got it pretty dialed now.

Glad you brought up the tuning for the controller. With a poorly tuned pid you'll wait forever to reach setpoint or overshoot and cycle between too hot and too cold.

Yep and I like the percentage setting for boils. Lots of options for control during the brew.

Thanks. That one was actually a cheap one that was too wobbly, so you'll see in future videos I got a metal grill cart one instead that has two wheels and wider top. That way I can move it but it's much more sturdy.🍻

I just did a cream ale last weekend brewing on a brewzilla 110v and man it took forever haha thinking about going back to propane to get my boil up faster. Hopefully the 240v works well for you

I just upgraded my spike system from 110v (took 2 hours to get to mash temp) to 240v and I get to mash temp in 20 min now. Going 240 took at a minimum of 3 hours off my brew day

I remember Kyle and Emmet from Clawhammer saying that they tried to use the grain basket for a hop spider and it didn't work out very well.... the screen on the basket id finer than the hop spider

I found that out as well the brew after I filmed this. It didn't drain well. I do have a 6" wide hop spider I use and that will fit more hops at least.

If you use the counter flow chiller and the whirlpool arm you can hop directly in the kettle. I’ve been doing that with no problems.

Owning one now, I can tell you first hand that they are not. The parts are welded and good quality. The controller and heat elements are well thought out and easy to assemble and use. Of course I'm sure they buy the plate chillers and pumps but so do all the other companies. It's a great set up for an all in one system.

@ good to know. That was something that kept me from going with them over my spike solo bottom drain
