Excellent video. Very informative. Wonder if they still have the same "1986" setup today. I am looking to get one of these.

Wow the servo motors on that mount are LOUD when slewing at high speed when compared to mounts that use stepper motors such as SkyWatcher EQ6-R Pro

Great looking scope. I am trying to sell my 16" Nightsky 4.5 Dobsonian and pick one of these up. I have a great light bucket, but I am also love Photography and there is no photography with a Dobsonian. I hate to give up the aperture, but my back can't handle the weight anymore. Now we just need to build a round glass dome so not to fight the mosquitoes. Thanks for sharing

Leuke video. Net een tweedehands c925 xlt gekocht. Zou het leuk vinden om af en toe ervaringen met deze telescoop uit te wisselen. Dit is het eerste sct dat ik gehad heb. Ik zit ook sinds kort op facebook Astroforum.

good video thanx. but now u can use the celestron SkyQLink WiFi module instead of the hand control and it is so amazing.

does the CGEM track the object in the night-sky precisely perfect without (!) "AutoGuiding" (no finder-scope, no OAG, no guiding-camera)?
@MarcelJanKr4 жыл бұрын
Well, since I mostly image the moon and planets, I didn't need autoguiding yet. For nebulas and galaxies it is too much lightpoluted here.

Hey Marcel-Jan! I just bought a used CGEM and can't wait to start using it. Can you recommend a SERIAL to USB adapter? Thanks! -Dave
@MarcelJanKr8 жыл бұрын
+PlanetNoble I bought this RS232 to USB connector from Digitus: www.digitus.info/nl/producten/accessoires/adapter-und-konverter/r-usb-seriell-adapter-usb-20-da-70156/ Works for me.

Does it track objects for astrophotography? Or it needs additional equipment?
@MarcelJanKr3 жыл бұрын
Yes it does. But you need to allign it on the Polestar (or southern equivalent for the southern hemisphere)

how can a smartphone be used as a Finderscope (app, telescope-mounting, settings, etc.)?
@MarcelJanKr3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I don't know. I know you can use a smartphone as a camera, but not that.

Hello. Thanks for the nice review. Do you do astrophotography? I saw the zwa camera attached to your scope. If so do you mind uploading or sending me some picture/videos of yours? :) thanks alot.

Fikret alp Işık Thanks. I already uploaded a video of the Moon (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHS2o2V7gqd6l9k) and I've published some videos about how I capture videos (kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3inYnyNe9SsfdE)

Pec and autoguiding works ?? Good for planets and stars ?
@SaadyAb9 жыл бұрын
Do you have to have a camera attached to this to use this or can you look at objects with your eye using a view finder?
@MarcelJanKr9 жыл бұрын
+Abdullah Saady I have several eye pieces with which I can look through the telescope with my own eyes. And I have a USB camera (it's the little red thing at the back of the telescope. The USB cable isn't there in this video). There are also ways to attach a SLR photo camera, but for my purposes the USB camera works just as well.

Does it work sufficiently ? Can you take good images ? Don´t need the white HD Edge type to get good clarity ??

Last week I've been at a star party (from astroforum.nl) and had this telescope with me. We had clear skies and I've seen so many galaxies, nebulas and star clusters. It was amazing. I haven't done deep sky astrophotography yet. But it images the planets and the moon pretty well. Hope the link works, but here is an example of Jupiter: www.astroforum.nl/forum/astrofotografie/astrofoto-s-zonnestelsel/57996-jupiter-door-mijn-nieuwe-c9-25-op-15-februari

Marcel. Hi! After 4 years from this video. I want to ask you: how good is the Optical tube 9.25"?. would you recommend it? thanks in advance for your response.
@MarcelJanKr5 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I haven't done a lot with it lately. But this is certainly a fine telescope. I've heard it's almost as good as the C11, which is of course more expensive.

Your giving the wrong information. Your scope will not track properly unless its polar aligned. The star align feature is only good to find objects. Polar alignment is totally different then star align for goto operation. You may have a little better luck with at least pointing the EQ mount in the north direction, even if you can not see Polaris.
@MarcelJanKr9 жыл бұрын
+Robert Desoto I guess you're right. I spoke with amateur astronomers about the problem of observing with my telescope from my balcony and they told me I could probably use star alignments. After gaining some experience I've noticed that doesn't work exactly. However, when I aim the mount to north as good as can, it works good enough for lunar and planetary imaging. And because light polution there's not much more to be seen where I live. But when I go to astroparties and when I'm in a field with a good view on Polaris I will use that.
