@@scottyd2262 i happened to have taken a trip to Australia a few years back and ended up doing half a days ride on an FE570 in Coffs Harbor that some one lent me. I was highly appreciative. What a bike!!! at the time i was used to riding an xr650l, so the 570 felt like a mountain bike in comparison with twice the power haha.

Great vid! I've had a 2011 FE30 (70 degree) for 3 years now. I live and ride in the mountains of Colorado and I've never ridden a better off road bike! After adding Michelin MT43 tires, it hooks up on our rocky terrain like a champ. Plenty of power for 6' 3" 205 lb 70 year old geezer! At 3000 miles, I had a seal go out - no problem, easy, cheap fix (was a very slow oil leak). NO other issues at all - love this piece of machinery and it pulls like a moose at any RPM. - Ray, near Durango, CO

Husaberg won the Enduro world championship on its first year of making and selling the bike in 1989 . It was a 88 model but it wasnt massproduced then . Husaberg was the brand that made people understand that 4 strokes was the future back in the early 90:s . Joel Smith also dominated the MX 500 class on a Husaberg for many years when all the outhers was racing CR , KX , KTM 500 2 strokes. The name Husaberg comes from the name of the place were they started building it ( Husabergs Udde )

This engine configuration has also been experimented with by BMW. Simply the best, it‘s a shame nobody uses it. Tilting the cylinder forward also means that you need less oil pressure to get the oil to the head (because you‘re not fighting gravity as much) leading to slightly more power. It‘s also easier to service the head because there‘s no tank or frame in the way.

Oh they did make MX bikes and won the World 500cc Championship in the 90s. Husaberg won the FIM 500 cc Motocross World Championship with Belgian rider Joël Smets in 1995, 1997 and 1998.[13] They also won 6 Enduro World Championships in 1990, 1991 (2), 1995, 1996 and 1998. Three more Junior Enduro World Championships followed in 2005/2006 by Joakim Ljunggren and in 2009 by Oriol Mena. Awesome for such a short history.

Dirt N Iron Yes they did, even pre Husaberg days the Husky Enduro bikes were far superior to the Japanese bikes, the WRs were the gold std in the 80s as much as I liked the Japanese bikes in Enduro those same engineers knew what real performance was. I am pretty sure also that Husaberg may have been the first GP World Title winner on a 4t since the 60s I am not 100% sure of the period but in modern era of that time the 90s 2t ruled, that said it was lack of development in the 500cc class that ultimately hurt the 2stroke not which technologies is better, but still an amazing vision, company and achievement, Joël Smets was also an amazing open class rider. Another subject really but it highlights what a Husaberg did, something that really frustrates me with the Japanese they lack vision, great copiers and often improve things or they did, but not in the 4 t era, it’s ironic to me Honda believe they are the fourstrokes masters and maybe in road they have been, I am not so good in road bikes knowledge wise, but off road the Europeans have lead 4t era, while Honda shined brightest in the 2t era. Yet actually they never wanted to make 2t. They have some dedicated 2t engineers or did and some of the best. But really everything we have now in the 4t era Husaberg we’re developing ore 2009 which is amazing to me.

@8:58 yep, the air filter is easy to get to. But getting to the throttle body and other engine stuff, you need to tear down half the bike, which is unfortunate. It was around twenty bolts or so. Compared to a modern Husky, where you need to take out 7 bolts and you can start working on the engine in 10 minutes.

@@dirtniron Thank you, Rado. The weird thing is that I hated the four-strokes from the second I bought it. The following traits were what I did not care for: 1.) It always felt too planted to the ground. Many people like this trait, but in Michigan single track where the sand changes depending on how God feels that day, I did not care for it. 2.) I would lose track of which gear I was in. I am very much a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear rider, but the four strokes exhaust note was something new to me. I was used to small 125-220cc two-strokes where you are always very aware of what gear you are in. 3.) Husabergs until the 2009-2011 models came out had a little stink bug feel to them. This is also true about many other European brands though. I feel like 25mm cut out of the subframe would have helped. Not everyone could notice this feeling, but as a person that is 5'6", I am always greatly aware of where the seat is. During COVID, I bought a 2001 KTM 200EXC for $1000 and essentially copied your 250sx/300 build. The only real difference between our builds is that I upgraded my forks to 2019 WP AER48s that were from the Alta factory when they liquidated during their bankruptcy. I also updated my PDS shock to a 2007 250sx-f 5018 assembly because Jeremy Wilkey with MX-Tech said that was the best year for the PDS internals. Oh, and I completed the conversion for it to look like a 2004.

In in my opinion, the hostile takeover of Husqvana and the dumping of Husaberg was a nasty, aggressive business decision by the Orange monster. Fantastic for their company sales simply by adding Husqvana stickers to their existing KTM models, but it alienated faithful fans of two brands who bought them BECAUSE they were different from the Austrian company. This previous Husqvana owner now has a Sherco, and I love it 👌

Really happy for you mate, that’s an awesome bike, not being a die hard 4t guy, the Husaberg always struck a cord with me, there is almost something magical about this brand and these model 70 deg engine visions in particular, things which only a few companies are starting to incorporate now, which shows how far ahead of they’re time they were, Yamaha cooked there air box design I guess, some new coming with out a kickstarter, Beta, Sherco quick release seats etc etc list goes on. Amazing bikes and I am a die hard 2 pt guy that’s how much they impress me. The fact they thought outside the box but executed the design so well as you say is a credit to what was the Husaberg division and engineers. They also have a great sound so thanks for sharing that too just awesome Also this is one of your best vids to date imo, really enjoyed this and informative but in a great natural but very professional way cheers. Looking forward to your videos with this bike in the coming future Rado, happy and safe trails.🤙

Hi, there is an fe 390 husaberg for sale here in belgium for 2700 euros. I've done serious mx competition 15 years ago. I want to throw the endurostuff of the bike. And ride it at the mx tracksin italy. Is it a bad choice? I was 23 years old then , 38years now. What do you think? Thanks. I allready rode my yz 2002 426f there and thanks to your help and tip 1.5 year ago it runs perfect. Thanks for your answer. Wouter

it can do MX track no problem but you would need to play with the suspension in order to take bigger jumps.. also the gearbox is not the best for MX.. if you only ride MX maybe consider getting straight MX bike, it would make more sense

Dirt N Iron Yes sir I do ride however I do not currently own a dirt bike since I sold mine when I moved out here from Virginia but I am looking into getting another one for myself and a starter bike for my son when I have the funding. Unfortunately that may be a little while since I retire from the military this month and will be going to school full time. But when my brother comes from Germany we will sometimes go rent one for the day.

Dirt N Iron I’ll refer you to Tom Webb and Karel Kramer of dirt rider fame. Tom ride a Husaberg. Claiming the right as being the editor of dirt rider magazine. Karel Kramer had the story....geeez that was a while back

There was a bit more to there story. The frame engineer raced him self. He asked the engine engineer if he could build him a motor, which he excepted. Parts were sourced to complete the bike. But... The upon turning up to a main race. They couldn't race with out a manufacturer name. And Husaberg was born. A third member was brought in, and the company was born. In short.
