A busy couple of days, once again moving sheep manure... but now our market lamb barn is clean and fresh for these newly weaned lambs.
We weighed them, and I was pleasantly surprised with how good their weights were... until I realized this group is a bit older than when I usually weigh.
Also wanted to vaccinate my new ewe lamb additions... but they had other plans apparently.
So after a quick sort by Carissa, we were able to get that job done too.

That is such a nice way of putting it. In my youth, I knew I did not have the coordination to be effective as a farmer. I am so fair skinned that being in the sun was not a good thing for me. At 2 and 1/2 yrs old I knew I wanted to be a doctor so each year I was sure I would leave the farming community. Yes, I did finally become a doctor but not until I was a board certified quality control electronic technician (I had to pay for my medical education; I am my family's first physician). Being a psychiatrist does not require physical coordination! Yes, there is a bit of coordination needed in repair of small electronic devices and it was challenging. I moved into more of inspection & testing, which required more education. This physical coordination thing is a problem for me for sure. I frustrated the surgeons because they are so coordinated and I am near pitiful. My knowledge base was excellent (I can described what to do well) but application was not great. I'm excellent at psychotherapy and was good at psychiatric medical management. People functioned better. My view was I would do the best with what I had in trade for what others did. I am so thankful my relatives can farm and were good at it. I remain thankful for all who do what they do well. I really like division of labor with trade 😀

I don't know how long I am watching her. Sure 3 xmasses and I watched all the other stuff when she don't put a video up. So I don't know how long. I watched all the videos and I don't want to miss out on any of them. Sometimes it's a day later but that's okay. Still see them all. And it warms my heart every time. Even I don't eat meat... I still live the way she handles the sheep and lambs with respect and gratitude. I have watched already in real life a lot of farmers beat up their sheep or cows and it is so refreshing to see someone is taking good care of the sheep and treat them very well...

Sandi, I started watching at 21min after posting and already this was viewed 1.3k. At the time I wrote this it was up at 3.8k. I love to watch your videos. Since I’m relatively new, I’ve also been going to your older videos to get my daily fix. Seriously, I cried over Goat, pray for Jess, told my husband about Mark’s fall and injury. I’ve also told him he would love all your farm equipment…he would think he died and went to heaven if he was put in the middle of all those tractors etc. I’m a worrier and get that ‘brain chatter’ too. I’ve learned to put my faith that God will see us through, and I pray a lot. It is exhausting when we worry about those we love.

Worrying takes a lot of energy... winter takes a lot of energy, age starts counting and as charissa isn't there so much it comes all down on you. Just hang on sweetie, and try to get as much sleep as you can. Once the bucket is empty you can't give anymore. So keep your bucket full... take naps if necessary and especially don't feel guilty about it. You have the right to take a break. I know it is difficult. But try to do it... big hugs from Belgium... 🤗😘🤗

4:30 nice, steaming hot manure...yeah! When I lived in Germany in 1960 (G.I.brat) all the houses in the little village we lived in had 20 ft. by 20 ft. corrals right next to the front door. full of steaming hot manure. they kept them close so that all they had to do was step out the door and turn the manure over to keep it from catching fire. Ahh, the memories to share with my grand kids, Mom said.

Use your suppliers to your advantage. Have the supplier you get milk replacer and creep feed put you on "their" schedule to phone you to enquire if you need more product. Also, typically, if you spend more than "x" amount you can get free delivery. Most places are still set up for phone in orders, since covid. Phone in your lamb supply order, now, and then they can have it ready for you or even Carissa could pick up, saving you a drive. Vet supplies can be brought out when your vet comes to scan. Just a bit of organization saves you hours or days of work.

At first I was surprised that Pita wasn't the smallest, but then I realized it makes sense. Due to her being a sextuplet and basically at the brink of death, you put in TONS of extra effort in feeding and training her. I imagine the extra effort went a long way in her weight. So comparing that to a lamb that wasn't born in such dire circumstances and maybe didn't get so much extra attention, it makes sense.

Hi Sandi, great work! I have to say, I only subribed to five youtube channels. I do not know nothing about sheeps. During the pandemic I found two channels from people that buy storage units, one dumspter diving channel, a German travelling channel of a young couple. And then, however, you popped up in my notifications. Watching you and your work, the sheeps, the lambs, the things that are going good or wrong, reminds me my own live. And I thank you for the dose of cuteness in this world and in mine. You bring a lot of smiles for me and for a lot of other people. Please don´t change anything in your behavior, we all love you just like you are! Greetings from Germany.

A suggestion on the fans u remove to clean. Ask Mark to come up with a simple hinge affair so they will swing up between the rafters to clear the telehandler. Then go to Harbor Freight and buy some simple cheap hand crank cable winches (boat trailer type). Hook the winch to the fan and then you can just crank them up and down as needed. No climbing and muscling the fans.

Listening to the sweep sounds of sheep and birds while I calculate costs of products is the most relaxing. But alas, I must get up and make lunch before putting these costs into the systems

It's always better to be safe than sorry even if you have to double handle. It is hard and overwhelming being a mom, wife and full time farmer, especially more so when there are medical issues involved. It is VERY TIRING!!

I think the Bobcat with its manure-grabbing attachment would make a great feature in a remake of North by Northwest, sheep-farming style. Just replace the crop duster . . .
