The "tears" in her eyes is just the eyes watering from the strong sun and contrast from the white salt. She really struggles to keep her eyes open, without sunglasses. I felt a bit sorry for her watching the first time. Amazing reaction btw, well deserved thumb up!

Ive said it before but her 12 year old performance of this with full orchestra arrangement by no other than Quincy Jones himself is where her buttery goodness starts to set in and that velvetty texture coming forward, her ability to put you in a trance was well on its way.

Don't miss the vibrato at the begining of words like "stars" and "Mars" the second time through. Many singers use it at the end of words, but this is one of her signatures to watch for. She is starting to add personal touches wherever she pleases. It's a mark of her growing technical confidence!

Thank you Aron for all the effort you are putting in to our girl who we adore. this is a favourite it never gets old , don't know when you will get to 12 yrs old AJ singing for Quincy but when you do you might like prior to the concert she meets Quincy and treats him to a little "Dream a little dream of me" with her cell phone as backing , he compliments her and she bends over and gives him a kiss an her holds her like a grandfather she is such a beautiful soul , later which you don't see is they spend time together and he tells her that she is the greatest talent since Michael Jackson and they sit and cry together , it's these kind of things about Angelina that touch me so much.💜💜💜👣

“Fly me to the Moon” was Angelina's signature song when she was “young”, she has performed it countless times - it is said that more than sixty of these performances have been recorded. It was her first ever live appearance on television (“Senkveld” talk show March 2014) and is part of her first album (“It’s Magic, 2018). The most recent was from her 2022 summer concert tour (Kongsberg/Kurbadhagen) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqiYiWCdgrqcoLc. Best known are appearances on ABC (The View, 2014) and at the O2 Arena London (Quincy Jones' Birthday 2018). Among all these shots, this video in the salt fields stands out, it is nothing short of a work of art. It was filmed in September 2015 (= she is 9 years old) and directed by her grandmother Mery Zamani, who is an artist (poet and painter) herself. So there's some magic in it that's hard to explain. Some believe that this is the surface of the Moon or Mars/Jupiter (although there is no water or horses on any of them). Interpreting this video is like looking at a Picasso painting - there's a lot to talk about and you're not sure you understand the meaning... It is unknown when the soundtrack for this video was recorded in the studio and mixed with the visuals - probably late 2015 or early 2016. The location is somewhere in the southwestern United States, probably Southern California, but could also be Utah. Although Angelina is from Norway, she has relatives in LA and often traveled to California to visit them. Great analysis Aaron! As you’ve heard, this is one of Angelina’s most oft-repeated covers. It is a favorite of Angelina’s to sing too. This has become a “signature” song of Angelina’s, at least from her early years. This is in part due to Mery’s brilliant visual cues and details that are layered throughout this masterpiece. The last scene of Angelina embracing the moon has become iconic - almost a trademark of Angelina Jordan. Couple Mery’s imagery with the lyrical thread that Angelina weaves through much of her original work (“…I’m the one who talks to the moon…”) and it’s hard not to come to the conclusion that both Angelina and Mery are creating their artistry on a higher plane than most mere mortals. It is mystical and mystifying. 🫶💛

The last few lines of this performance are pure Ella Fitzgerald. Amazing. I always wonder what it would be like if Sinatra or Ella were around today to see what they would think of her singing. One other thing. I have heard her more recent work and I think she may a victim of sub-par material. A lot of the great performers of the 50's and 60's like Ella and Sinatra had a wealth of great songs to sink their chops into. I believe Angelina is a world class artist who is living in an era where there are no more Great American Standards being written and she may be held back by that lack of world class material. I hope I'm wrong about that!

She has turned nine here you can see the teeth progressively grow in in her different age performances.Thank you for yourwork though to critique her age performances,your details are well noted.She does choose to be breathy in a lot of her notes.It is a great contrast to her fuller stronger notes and later to compliment her belts as she becomes older thank you 😊

This video was made in 2016 I think, when she was 10, the audio may have been produced earlier. Angelina spent a few months in the USA from summer to the end of the year. Here the location is Nevada, I think the climb up to the Moon was in Red Rock Canyon, close to Las Vegas, not sure about the salt lake. If you were to ask an Astronomer what Mars might be like in the spring, they might say it was a good approximation. At the end of that visit Angelina did a short rendition of this song for an advert for LinkedIn, recorded at Log Cabin Studios in New York. A rather different style but certainly one of my favourites. On that occasion she also produced a demo of a new song (was never released officially) that is for many her best ever performances - I'm Still holding out for you - keep that in mind when you reach her 10 year old performances - she was almost 11 then. If you would like to hear her Quincey Jones arrangement of this song, you will have to wait until she is 12 and opens a concert at the O2 arena, she was invited specially by Quincy himself, for his 85th Birthday concert. If you want to hear a full Bosa Nova version you will have to wait until she was 16, on July 10th 2022, Kurbadhagen in Sandefjord Norway. I was there, it was a day that I will always remember...

I personal see her videos as high quality practice sessions for try out new stuff, genres, sounds and all sorts what come along with this and I think there isn't another Artist on this planet who we can watch the evolution and progress. Your comments on those minor nuances, with your Background in mind is so helpful to get a better understanding of all what happen over the time she grow up .. most are only listen but don't understand those nuances and the meaning in context to the song .. keep up your great work ..

One of the things I enjoy, esp. in her younger years is how other singers start to bleed into her covers and how it progresses. Naturally, but with more intent as time goes on. She became so skilled at so many things that I think that is one of the reasons she progressed so rapidly. It gives her the ability to sing in any genre and even many genres in a single piece. Angelina can envision a song, hers or cover, (I think she knows very quickly how she wants a song to sound) and because so many great artist's have been poured into her soul she has few restrictions on what she can do. Believe me when I say you have just seen the flicker on the candle---the bonfire is still to come. Once again I like and appreciate what you are doing. On a final note, I wonder how those close to her felt as they experienced this up close and she's just getting started.

Fyi up til the late 1950s worldwide scientific belief is that the moon is plasma. Not solid. Anywho, she would have a helmet on so singing might be hard and muted. But I get what your sayin

Her breathiness is always intentional. She learned very early on the affect her breathiness has with her music and uses it perfectly. Some reactors who are not too familiar with her describe her breathiness as a flaw or that she is just too young. Wrong. It's always intentional.

The moon shot at the end is much more important than it may appear, A-Aron. Apparently Mery's husband and Angelina's Grandfather would often refer to watching her from the moon once he was gone. He did pass when she was about twelve, and one of her first original songs called "Million Miles" was penned in tribute to him and the moon features prominently in both the lyrics, and the lyric video of that song.

❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 I really like that you are reviewing so many of her more obscure performances, in that many reactors just go with the most highly popular videos, of which this is one. All of her performances are of great interest to we Angels, but it is hard to find reviews of them, and if you do it, usually is just them saying it's wonderful in a way that makes me think that they are saying that because they think that's what we want to hear. There may be some of that for sure, but many of us really want to know how any particular piece fits into her development vis-a-vis other pieces. That's not to say that we don't enjoy them all. Some reactors also don't take into account how and by whom the recordings were made and other factors like whether she was sick when the audio was recorded. All of these things are important in my view and need to be accounted for to have an accurate view of her development as a musician. Keep up the good work! 😊

There are several problems trying to pick favorite Angelina songs-as you’re aware by now. She sings so many different genres at different ages. As you noted, how do you compare today’s to I Put a Spell on You? Or Summertime at 8 to Bohemian Rhapsody at 13? And you’ve barely scratched the surface. Most Angels don’t say they have a favorite, but they have a cloud of a few dozen that fit into that category. I don’t even have a favorite Fly Me to the Moon. There are three that are all different that I like best-and she kills them all.
