People talk about the original, but... The original original was from Manu's ex-band *Mano Negra* and was more of a punk-ish take. Titled 'King of Bongo', it was on an album of the same name.

This is the first singer, Tarja Turunen. In 2001 she announced that she was leaving the band because she wanted to finish her classical studies in Germany in 2002/03 and then continue working in the classical field. The band managed to persuade her to continue after that, but on her terms. This concert is from 2005 and Tarja is fired in the dressing room immediately afterwards. The band accuses her of turning herself into a diva. Tarja continued to be successful after that: TARJA 'Innocence' - Live @ 'Circus Life' - Available Exclusively on the 'Best Of: Living The Dream' There is also a version with Floor and a musical/opera singer: Nightwish - The Phantom Of The Opera (ft. Henk Poort) (LIVE) Marko sings relatively high and generally suits female singers well. A current example: Patty Gurdy - I Am With You feat. Marko Hietala (Official Music Video) Marko is one of the metal pioneers in Finnish metal. In 1985 he founded the heavy metal band Tarot with his brother, where the two are the lead singers: TAROT - Wings Of Darkness (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) In 2001 he took a detour and joined Nightwish, where he replaced the bassist at the time. In 2021 he left the band due to depression. He is now touring with his solo program and his second solo album will be released in February: MARKO HIETALA - Impatient Zero (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)

I have the original version on an old Manu CD and was delighted to learn that Ren and the Big Push did this beautiful cover.

I own a copy of that Manu Chao album, and still listen to it from time to time. Both tracks covered by The Big Push here basically use the same base/beat with different lyrics and melody over it.

Hey Aaron! So glad you finally got to Bongo Bong! This is such a fabulous song and the original is just as good as The Big Push's version. This was a very simple production. Only editing was for volume levels, EQ, some basic color correction due to the time of day, and cutting out of their footage they took. This was recorded on a rooftop of the apartment building they lived together in and a bunch of friends in Brighton on a beautiful summer early evening. Romain is playing a ukulele, Gorran is playing an electric bass, and Ren is on an acoustic guitar. Just a bunch of their busking Shure mics and Ren's laptop. This is a purely joyful song with such silly lyrics. Interestingly, the side parts where they just sing the same lines over and over is actually sung by a female backup artist and Manu Chao. It's amazing how they took a largely feminine role in the piece and made it fit their own tones and styles. For more really fun, dancing-like, songs, I highly recommend Why My Woman? (The Big Push original) or What You Want (Ren original). Much peace and love to you as always darling. ^^ <3

Great reaction/analysis video, Aron. I watched this live on line & it was the best money I've ever spent on a concert. Even though I've seen this many times since, it never gets old. Those Classic Christmas songs from this concert are my favorite versions of those songs I've ever heard & they've been covered by legendary singers for the last century. I'm so glad they included 4 of them on her 2023 Christmas EP, "Driving Home For Christmas," so now they are a part of her "official" recording history. I think you missed something there @A-AronReacts That extra extended long note in the cadenza I think was to show the drummer who's the boss. If you listen again you'll notice he makes a mess of it entering in to the cadenza where he keeps on rattleing his sticks one extra bar. Also he's rushing it and drives up the tempo which causing Angelina to give him several glances during the third verse.

I also think Angelina singing Bohemian Rhapsody was the best version I have heard. I don't know if its was the musicians but it felt a lot stronger to me

this concert should be picked up by TV stations and played as a Christmas special, as it is world class imo. I have listened to it many times never gets old, in fact it gets better every time I hear it

Interesting that in late 2021 she was talking about working on her album, writing songs and hoping that her album came out in 2022. As we know there was actually never a full album released, only a 6 song EP mid 2023 and one original single (Our Time). So what happened in the 3 years between this concert and now? If it’s true that she has left or is leaving Republic it would seem very likely that the very minimal releases in 3 years is a big factor. I wonder if we’ll ever know the real details on what happened during this period.

When she speaks, especially at the time of this concert when she was 15, that’s when you realize that she’s actually still just a teenager. I’ve seen first time reactors to songs like Suspicious Minds think that she is in her 20s. One of them even asked if her cousins were her kids.

I really hope you plan to check out and react to one of their "The Greatest Show on Earth" live performances as well. Personally I love the Tampere performance the most as the instrumental range and overall energy just feels on another level, but which ever one you might go for, it's one heck of a compositional masterpiece journey.

This song is indeed a symphony. Symphonic metal composed by a once in a generation compositional genius, performed alongside the London philharmonic (Originally recorded when the studio recording of the song was produced, and then used as a backing track during the live performances), with the voice of a Valkyrie Goddess.

And you wouldn't believe she is also an Olympic grade long distance runner. Sort of shows how she sings and shows no strain.

And just realize this was her worst performance. Each time she just got better.

Aron. Those Musicians heard her. They were intrigued. They were Marveled by her voice and singing. They wanted to be there. That’s why you see Jimmy Z around her now. I think he realizes he can help her. The label was only into her for earning them money without spending on Promotions..

This should be Angelina's permanent band. I remember watching this live and it was incredible and then she hit us with the final song and omg, I'm not religious but it was a spiritual experience
