That creek was perfectly suited for tenkara. Beautiful fish, and those red rocky bluffs were pretty special too. Looks like a fun place. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much! This is definitely going to be one of my go-tos during the colder months. I love the red rocks is Southern Utah

Stellar video as always. I deep down have this gut feeling that the sharpshooter is your favorite rod

Thanks, Skiddy! It has been my go to rod for these small creeks for sure! I need to give the FoxFire a real try this summer too. I haven't used it enough yet. The Mizuchi is another one that I need to use more this summer.

@@tntepicadventures I really love the MIzuchi. It's one of my favorites still.

Awesome video! Are you changing your fly based on how deep the water is? Are you seeing the strike near the fly or is the line suddenly moving indicating the strike? I’m not the best at tenkara, especially in deep pools.

Thanks so much! I loved making this video! I changed to a dry fly when I saw some surface takes. I changed to a heavier fly when I noticed no takes and I wasn't getting to the bottom of deeper holes (couldn't feel the fly hitting the bottom). Then I changed randomly to see if they worked or to make things interesting. I love doing tests/experiments with different flies, especially on me creeks.

@@tntepicadventures that makes sense. You said this was southern Utah. Does it get too hot for trout? We visit Saint George frequently but I’ve never taken my tenkara gear. Wondered if there were even any places to try down that way.

The mountains in that area are a great place to Tenkara fish. Download Trout Routes (you can use the free version) and it will show you some creeks to check out in that area. Then use Google Maps to check out the terrain for those creeks. You'll definitely find some down there! 😉
