When you scratched the A5 cover I put these faces by order: 😮...😲...😵...😱...😖...😫...😭

This has gotta be the best comment ever! 🤣🤣 Appreciate the moral support? 😬

@@therexallen Well, once you apply leather oil-care over the whole surface of the cover, all will appear to be perfect again. 😉👍🏻

Yeah, appreciate that. I do love the character that leather gets from use. But when you scratch it making an unboxing video - that is classic! 🤣🤦🏻♂️

@@therexallen 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I do *LOVE* (real) leather stuff.

Haha. Same. I’ve been using my Range Leather notebook covers for years. And they just look better with time.

That scratch is your personal engraving. That’s what gives leather a personal value.

Haha. True.

Indeed. I do love the look of well worn/used leather. But that first one always makes me tear up.

Great video, Rex. Thanks. I felt a twinge at my heart when I saw/heard you scratch the leather. I've been there. A few too many times to mention. LOL :) Your video is appreciated!

Thanks a bunch Ted! Appreciate the support. Definitely not a fun feeling when you put that first scratch in it! But now years in with my Range Leather stuff, and all the scratches give it so much character!

@@therexallen This is very true! I now think of such "happy accidents" as "Christening" the journal! Haha :)

Do it. They’re pretty nice - definitely classes up the desk space.

Nice. Never enough of leather covers. Mine did made some color mushy marks on my notebooks. Simply just brown colorization all over the pages connected. Yours?
@therexallen Жыл бұрын
I haven’t noticed this happening. I have these new ones to my designer though - so not really sure. I use the ones from Range Leather and I’ve never had any bleed onto my notebooks.

More voice volume, less elevator music. I hate pen loops near the notebook binding. They don't do product testing? I cut the loop out of a different cover I have since it's useless, and the loop is thick enough to be annoying.
@therexallen11 ай бұрын
Yeah, at 6:43 - it is a pretty silly design "flaw." Not a fan of that feature, for sure. If you're gonna put a pen loop in there, make sure the cover fits flush when the pen is in there...

These all look good and at a fair price point.

Yeah. Super fair for sure. But there’s just something about supporting an American-made brand that I love. Especially for hand-made stuff.

@@therexallen Most definitely, I prefer supporting American small businesses best of all.

i dont blame you for now knowing this but these are straight garbage... the edges arent even slicked... please support a local leatherworker. for ten buck more i you can get something so much more high quality.
@therexallen Жыл бұрын
Yeah. These definitely didn’t replace my Range Leather stuff…
@nickmagill3604 Жыл бұрын
@Charlie Charlie no they ARE really really bad. slicking edges is necessary for durability literally only takes a minute so the the fact that not a single edge is slicked it tells me, these as you say "rustic" covers (that are mass produced in a giant Chinese's factor) were never touched by humans and are probably 100% machine made. the stitches are also machined so if one stich pops the rest come with it. and the fact that you can still pay 10$ more to a craftsman and get a 100% better product rather then giving amazon even more money. please stop commenting on things you know nothing about....
@therexallen Жыл бұрын
@charliecharlie2288 Haha. Yeah, a bit much there. I’m all about craftsmanship. But a craft leather cover is like $100 more than these cheap ones. And yeah, while I’d rather spend my $ with a craft shop (and I do - Range Leather), sometimes you just need something cheap to get the job done.
