Luffy really uno reversed that cannonball right back at his grandpa 😂 The logo switching each episode adds so much character and makes you expect those few seconds it appears on screen. Magy about to inhale all that delicious food through the screen 😂 It was quite endearing, how confident Luffy was trying to skip paying for the meal. There's certainly a friendship starting to develop between Helmeppo and Koby and the way it just evolves so naturally, with small lines and little pieces of wisdom being offered - it feels really good. On the other hand, Garp keeps teaching Koby new things, even if the latter has a hard time accepting them. After seeing what Mihawk can do when he was introduced earlier in this episode...I gotta say Zoro was bursting with confidence when he challenged him. Mihawk really wasn't kidding when he said he doesn't hunt rabbits with a cannon...schooled Zoro with a letter opener, let them all go after that and left like a complete badass. You weren't dramatic at all, your emotions show just how much you care about the characters and how invested you are into the show. Regarding the viceadmiral knowing or not knowing if he's after his grandson, remember what he asked Mihawk in this episode: to bring him back alive. Thank you for the beautiful reaction ❤

I just finished watching the last episode yesterday & loved the entire Season. I was worried that it would be difficult for Netflix to adapt 60 half hour anime episodes into just 8 hour long live action episodes, but this is definitely 1 of the best anime adaptations ever, & it does the manga & anime proud.

It's not adaptation of the anime. They made it clear that it's an adaptation of the Manga. The anime unnecessary drag out scenes and repeat the flashbacks too much.

Keep in mind that One Piece specifically shows how much of a difference old age does to a character. The Garp here is weakened from age, but that cannonball he throws, in the anime, was said to have been shot faster than even those fired from a cannon.

The world building and characters building of the original manga is one of the finest in the fiction storytelling world, and this series is doing a great job at adapting it !

In fairness, Zorro needed a bit of a reality check. I think they all did. Mihawk is one of the strongest guys in the world, and he was only flexing the barest fraction of his strength there (if he'd wanted to, he could have sliced Zorro, and the entire restaurant in half). They needed to be shown that, in the Grand Line, they're still just pipsqueaks. And just how much growing they still have to do. Otherwise, they might walk blindly into things that they need a bit of foresight for.

Hi Magy, i finished watching the eight episodes 3 days ago, at the beginning I wasn't very convinced about the live action, but I changed my mind episode after episode, it was incredible, I didn't expect all this work for this series, it was nice to see all the dialogues and fights, everything the same, Garp will actually meet Luffy only in Water 7 after the events of Enies Lobby, I'm at episode 340 and I imagine what awaits me in the other 734 episodes, I love this anime too much

Fun fact(s) potental spoilers (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) garp's special is throwing cannon balls with his hands. Kreig who mihawk unalived was actually the main villain for the baratie arc. Who luffy fought. We also never saw when mihawk decimated the fleet we only heard so this was a fun addition. Additionally the guy who came in and ate the fried rice was part of kriegs crew and a scout he had conflict with sanjis character. The guy in the pink hair and the blonde at the table is a nod to the anime as that was a marine person tryna inpress the woman with his know how but sanji upshowed up.

The main gripe in this episode was the lack of tears. Waterfall tears. Like in the manga/anime. Zoro, though good here, was alot more emotional. This is also the start of keeping Zoro handicapped in every fight. So, when he wins. Remember, he's handicapped.

The only spoiler I will give is that because it's a live action they toned it down on everything and the anime/manga has more of everything which is why I they need to be creative if season 2 gets green lit because there is a lot there and sfuff was left out and changed for the live action which is alright and I'm glad so many are enjoying it, but some things you can't cut that cost a lot maybe change.

I hope this is OK for everyone, but given how far away this revelation is (episode 314), some explanation of the Luffy family tree may be needed. Yes, Monkey D. Garp is his grandfather, vice admiral of the navy and representative of the World Government. His father is Monkey D. Dragon, who leads the Revolutionary Army fighting the World Government. The identity of his mother remains unknown , though he is known to have had a foster mother. He has no biological siblings (as far as we know), but he does have two "sworn" brothers, Ace and Sabo. He grew up with them and were so close they made a pact to be closer than brothers for life
