I've figured out that you need to aim farther back toward the belly of the capes, it will get through to the lung every time

If you go east from the outpost on the lake in fever tree forest, you can climb the big rock and see tons of springbok at their feed time. I’ve gotten a diamond from that already

@@tylersantos6681 so down at the bottom left corner there’s an outpost on a lake and if you go east from there, there’s a big hill or plateau thing and you can climb up it and look north, northeast, and northwest

I recently shot an diamond cape buffalo on the right hand side coastline of the map the first shot was with the 300. and on 230m I didn’t get vitals while it was completely broadside. I then decided to take the 470 and kill it because I didn’t want to ruin the score if the 300 didn’t reach vitals again

I've had so many ruined shots on Capes with the .300 that I've switched to the .338 or .454. Lost a diamond after two perfect 150m broadside shots failed to penetrate a lung. Weirdly, I don't have any issues with the .300 on any other species.

I find that pretty interesting. I’ve shot a lot of buffalo and bison with the .300 and i never have it not hit the lung. It should make it through this, but were you hitting shoulder blade?

@@thannydevitos2332 I could aim directly at the shoulder blade and around 3 shots in 10 won't even pass through enough flesh to hit it. A perfectly placed square-on broadside shot often barely breaks the skin. I've never had any issue with bison or water buffalo, just Cape, so I wonder if the issue lies with them rather than the .300?

@@thannydevitos2332 the issue started for me around a year ago. Before that I'd never had any problems. Don't get me wrong its not all the time, but enough that I wouldn't trust the .300 with a diamond or rare cape shot.

Congrats on the albino cape…I was lucky to find a gold lucistic cape and a gold albino cape when on multiplayer a few months back. I don’t know what it is lately but the last couple of night I’ve been on multiplayer each server I hopped on people were modding or the server was hacked. It’s been hard to find clean servers….it seems like since this last update there has been an increase in people using mods and hacks don’t know why but it stinks :/

@@Carnidoom if you are finding every deer at different lakes all with diamond score then the server is hacked. So you’re probably ok. I’ve had similar where on my map I had two mufflon diamonds at the same lake and I don’t use mods. It’s bad when every animals you scan has a diamond score.

@@Cashgrabbersent if you read what I wrote I didn’t say anything about it’s bad getting non stop diamonds. I one time got 5 diamonds in one day just multi player hopping. What I said is you have to be careful that you’re not on a modded server where every animal you come across is a diamond. Like if you go to a lake when it’s Cape buffalo drink time and you see 10 capes and all of them are diamond score. Then you go to another zone and you see a herd of spring Buck and 5 in the herd are diamonds. That’s a red flag bec that’s not normal. Someone recently shared on another content creators stream that they went on a modded server unknowingly and their files got corrupted. They lost all of their lodges and couldn’t get them back. The problem with any mod is that it messes with the game coding. The game was never built to handle mods so when you add a mod like adding more pop or have every animal be a diamond the game in time will crash and you can affect other servers too bec the game wasn’t built like that. EW has even said that the majority of people who have contacted them and said “my game got corrupted or I lost all of my lodges” they all had one thing in common: they were using mods. So mods aren’t good that’s all I’m saying

The .470 isn't even getting good penetration at very close range. There was a whole bunch of charging ones and I tested it on a few groups and it NEVER reached lung I've also gotten 4 big horns diamond wildebeest in 3 days, I guess I just have good spawns bcs they keep coming back as 5s
