Jean gets into romance is a mood. I’ve just got into Jordan L. Hawk on my friends recommendation and I really think you’d like them! I’m reading their Whyborne & Griffin series which is a fantasy historical m/m romance series with the best side character, Dr. Christine Putnam, archeologist with a gun. Whyborne is a philologist and Griffin is an ex-Pinkerton private detective and the three of them team up to save the world from Lovecraftian horrors. I’m only two books in (out of eleven and some short stories) and I know there is a f/f relationship to come which I’m Looking forward to!

okay, I've been resistant to trying Tessa Dare because of those book covers, but you've convinced me to give her a shot.

I just finished reading Eidolon today and I’m staring The Ippos King tonight, and i must say that the plot on eidolon would still be a great one even if a lot of the romance was removed. the romance was like the (very important) icing on the cake lol, which is another reason why I love Grace Draven. Personally, I’d probably feel weird if I read a book that was the cliche romance, but that’s just me. This is the first series I’ve read from her but I’ll definitely be reading more. Woo I needed to vent that opinion out 😆

Thanks for talking about romances that feature couples that are older than in their 20s!

My new favorite author this year is Brandon Sanderson. I loved the Mistborn first and second trilogy, I adored reading th Way of Kings and can't wait to read the other books, and I loved his new science fiction books as well! I think you would love his works as well, it's high fantasy with extremely well done magic systems and plots.

Bec McMaster is a new favourite author of mine - I've read her 'London Steampunk: The Blue Blood Conspiracy' series twice this year (and one title three times), as well as her 'London Steampunk' series. They're both great fantasy romance series set in 19th century London involving vampires, conspiracies and revolutions!

Ooh I’ve not seen these so I’ll look them up! Thanks ☺️

@@JeansThoughts They're really good! My favourite is the companion series, 'The Blue Blood Conspiracy', but 'London Steampunk' (the first series set in that world) is good too. Each book follows a different duo as their romance and the overarching plot develops. I love 'The Blue Blood Conspiracy' more because of the humour, cameraderie between characters and the action. I read all ten books and two novellas which make up the two series in less than two months!

I follow you on Goodreads and started to see so many tessa Dare books in a row that I started reading her books too, and it was like steping on a puddle and getting my whole leg in the hole. I’ve read all but one book of spindle cove, the tird one, all of castles ever after, all of her new series. I also started to read more romance books on regência era england, and there’s a lot of those. I’ve never got in to romance books before, the ones i’ve read thanks to you where a fun and quick read, you made my reading year a lot better. (I’m tipping this on my phone, my auto corrector is in portuguese, if i’ve missed something it was because of that)

Historical romance is my favorite genre, and Tessa Dare is one of the best, but so many more similar to her that you should try.

Mine this year were Sally Rooney, V.E.Schwab and Taylor Jenkins Reid, hoping to find more in 2020!

Oh this is great! I love when you discover an author you really love! Cliche, but I really enjoyed Taylor Jenkins-Reid this year. She's the only new author I've read multiple books by this year, but my love for Jeanette Winterson has also grown exponentially!

After you mentioned Radiance in your video a couple of days ago, I found it on e-book and ended up staying up all night to finish it. Loved it so much and couldn't put it down. I'm now reading the sequel and looking at her other books. Think she will become a new favourite author. I'm a huge Jane Austen fan and usually avoid all the period romance books set in the Regency but think I may give Tessa Dare a try based on your recommendation. I think I particularly enjoyed Shannon Chakraborty's books City of brass and Kingdom of Copper this year and am looking forward to the last book in the trilogy coming out in 2020.

Ah I’ve been meaning to read city of brass, I hear great thing so thanks for the reminder. And I’m SO pleased you enjoyed Radiance, it brings me so much joy - I think Brishen and Ildiko are my ultimate couple duo.

If you're looking for another book where LGBT+ relationships are accepted even among the world's very problematic religion, I'd recommend These Rebel Waves by Sara Raasch. I'm currently reading and enjoying it :) One of the main characters, the prince, is in a relationship with a man and it's not an issue :)
