Came here to leave the same comment. Everyone I talk to about GL.iNet is surprised about the capability in the small form. Plus it has a 2.5gb port for little money!

Why not connect your Macbook to BT WiFi and use the wireguard client for Mac to connect back home? Surely quicker and a lot less faff.

When in repeater mode, can it broadcast a completely different SSID and password than the wifi it is repeating?

This needs to be battery-powered and support sim cards, plus have an esim store where you can buy data for specific countries. Currently, I can't see any benefit to me when I'm travelling because I would need to use someone else's internet to get online. Usually there is no public internet available so having a sim/esim is very much needed.

sorry what do you mean battery powered? did you not see he used a battery bank and said he charged it through the tesla. What sort of battery power are you thinking off?
@thematofall2 ай бұрын
@@yhoda145it needs its own internal battery, you shouldn’t need to have a battery pack too, or a wall plug as pretty much anytime I travel I end up without a wall plug nearby

I have and I absolutely love it. The only issue I am having is when I have a mifi unit plugged Into the usb a port on the Asus to provide Internet n charge the mifi unit it doesn't seem to be able to pass the internet thru when the Asus is being powered by a power bank. It however the Asus can get internet from the mifi when the Asus is plugged into mains electricity

I have a raspberry pi setup as my “travel” router which can do all this at a budget option. The only downside is for the non tech savvy people this method is less user friendly than the Asus device.

What's the point of this video...Why would use outside AP? Do you have your phone with Hotspot. And why would someone bring a router outside ? UNLESS... This is for Van Life
@stefsmurf3 ай бұрын
Let's say you're on the road a lot. Doesn't matter the reason why. Instead of setting up your laptop/switch/other internet accessible gadgets for each location, you can just connect to the RT-AX57 Go, and just modify the settings there. If you travel with kids or others, it more useful to have a connection their devices already knows and trust rather than trying to get everyone connected to the new location. You could also attach devices to the other usb/ethernet connection, so an external usb drive can become more of a nas. A lot of these devices also can act like firewalls, so it's extra security from random wifi that could have security issues. And this is just the device as a router. And as he said, it can work as a repeater or AP, who's price is much cheaper than a lot of the others currently on the market (wifi 6 AP for decent specs seem to cost around $80, about the same price as the RT-AX57 Go), so you're getting more functionality for basically the same price. Now, I'm not saying get this product. But if you do go away from home at least a couple times a year and want to have a network you trust, this is a helpful device.

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. “There’s nothing this can’t do” - lies, you can’t put a SIM card in it which is a pretty big fail.
