When Flex starts answering questions about their products then I will buy some.

My first Flex. Like I mentioned, it's primarily for my Remote HF and it works well. I still will keep my Anan for when I'm local. The Flex transmit signal is clean so I'm not too worried about the pure signal aspects of it, but it would be nice though.

I've been doing HF remotes since the early 1980's. I'm very impressed with the Apache Labs ANAN-G2 and it was a lot less than the Flex.

Great information (and great boots, too! 😄). I currently have a 6700 that works perfectly, and not yet ready to "upgrade" unless I can do a good trade-in deal or sell outright. A used 670 brings $4400 wile a new 8600 is ~$500 more... a bargain of sorts, to be certain.
@DarrenN4VFR17 күн бұрын
My first Flex. If it still satisfies you, I would just save the money for any future updates. I don't even use all the slices and just should of gotten a 8400 instead. Thanks for watching, I really like my Flex is far superior than using the Icom IC7610 with the RSBA1 Software which uses a lot of internet bandwidth and buffers at times. 73

You'll want to take advantage of the inbuilt GPS functionality on the 8600 so you can take advantage of the inbuilt NTP server, especially if you work digital modes. If you order up a PGXL amp from Flex you won't need the USB "A" to USB "A" cable at all. If you have the full Flex infrastructure the hardware integration is awesome.
@DarrenN4VFR18 күн бұрын
Yeah, that an advantage to keeping it a Flex Ecosystem. I'll think about it in the future. But for now, I've ordered the USB-A to USB-A FTDI cabling.

Welcome to SmartSDR. I have not chosen to move to an 8600 as my 6600 was 7 months old and still had the new car smell when they announced the end of production in May (and they never breathed a word, just took my money and smiled. I expect you to like the Flex 8600 once you have solved the change to SmartSDR exercise.
