I have the MX88. Nice sounds, but one major drawback. After about a year of light playing ( I play mine maybe 5-6 hours per week ) the action starts to get sloppy, keys make a thunking sound and get really bouncy. I sent Yamaha an email describing the issues, and they were kind enough to issue a one time warranty - (even though my keyboard was out of warranty ) to get it fixed. The tech at the repair shop ordered and installed a whole new keyboard action. On the old one, the wear could be seen. Nice instrument, but Yamaha needs to make an improvement for a more durable keyboard.

Are you able to create a drone pad? The Nord has a “kb hold” function that allows for a drone pad.. is this keyboard able to?
@andrewyancey8784 күн бұрын
Old question but might help somebody. If you want more of a drone type pad. Set the pad to only play C -B in a middle octave so that you don’t have mud in the low end or piercing pad in the high end of the keyboard. Also if you limit the pad sound to only one octave, in addition to making it sound less muddy, you will save polyphony by a lot.

(NOTE: I know this is the MX88, but I wan't to share my experience with the smaller MX61) Although many of the built in sounds doesn't fulfill my needs for modern church music, I still use MX61 as my goto MIDI keyboard. The synth-action keys are fantastic! As I tend to only use mod-wheel for tweaking and using the DAW-assignable buttons, I love the fact that it has audio AND midi over USB. For when I don't use Mainstage, the easily accessible part select and layer/split buttons make controlling external hardware or other keyboards a breeze. I got it before the price went up. And it's really lightweight. One of my best buys

Mx88 vs yamaha p125 just piano sound? Which one do you think better? Do you think p125 is good enough for band? Or must be added some reverb? Thank you
@mollies134 жыл бұрын
P125 mainly focus on piano then yes organ while mx88 is synthezier keyboard made for creare yiur own music fun or recorded. Who use syntheizee for church anyway.... You can get dgx660 for that then.
@KM1980Music2 жыл бұрын
I have both the P-125 and MX. For purely the piano sound, I would go for the P-125. It has 4 layers of touch and the sample is just so clean. You can add reverb if you'd like. Now, if you're playing in a band and need to cut through the mix, I'd definitely go for the MX88. You can edit the piano voices to your liking and there's also more pianos to choose from (the P-125 has 4 different pianos to choose from). Also, there are so much more sounds on the MX88 (over 1,000) compared to the P-125 (24). In the end it's your decision and you should try them both out for yourself. But the MX88 is more versatile and offers much more that the P-125 doesn't (a lot more sounds, editable voices, etc.). The P-125 has a great piano sample and is great for solo piano. I hope this helps!

Nice keyboard. I've been using mine at church on a regular basis for almost a year. I haven't gotten to much into it other than playing the default sounds. Sound quality is as expected from Yamaha. Build quality is what you'd expect for a $1,000 keyboard. The key bed has loosened up a good bit in places. I play it 3 services a week. I had the original MO8 and it's a noticeable difference. The keybed is nowhere near the MO let alone the Motif.

The crypto market has been unstable. People ask themselves now which coin to hodl better or if this is the right time to invest? before jumping to a conclusion I think you should take a look at things first. Investors who bought early are still in profit despite the recent price crash and they also earn by trading. @@jjrusy7438 Thanks. My other question is why musicians choose this instead of PSR 970 or any other backing keyboard or accompaniment keyboard. What"s the major difference?
@jjrusy74386 жыл бұрын
@Hui San, I chose the MX88 because I needed the full 88key piano and it was the best affordable choice for me. I chose it for the key action and the $1000 price point. I was considering the roland for $1000 also. I did not want anything with "synth action" keys. I already broke a key on my Korg synth trying to play piano. I am learning boogie-woogie and rock n roll and those styles beat the hell out of keyboards. the PSR970 does not have piano action, does not have 88 keys and also costs like $1800. The motif engine in the MX series is a bonus for me as I mostly just needed the piano. Also, 88 keys is easier to split and still have several octaves on each half of the split. I use it for controlling other synths/modules as it is my main board. haha, I GUESS i'm a musician, and that is why I chose the MX88 over the PSR or other more expensive 88key arranger. From owning it since jan 2018, I noticed how rich and clean the sounds are. It is also very quiet, no hiss or noise. The very simple interface is great. you can menu dive, but the most used features are one or 2 button presses and that's it. The sounds are wonderful and I haven't even played with all of them yet. I was so happy with the MX88 I submitted a review to Sweetwater sound (where I bought it, no tax and free shipping too yay!) HTH

@@jjrusy7438 ok Great. Thanks a lot for the explanation. I'm no musician, just trying to buy a keyboard/stage piano/synth for my daughter and I don't know much about them. @jjrusy74386 жыл бұрын
Yes, this would be a good instrument for your daughter. I believe both the clavinova and MX88 have that graded-action keybed so your daughter would not feel the MX88 is strange. It would play like the clavinova, only portable (weighs maybe 15Kg/30pounds or so). I also recommend the Yamaha travel case for the MX 88. it has lots of handles and wheels to make moving the keyboard easy for even a smaller person. It has some nice synth sounds but the MX88 does not have a sequencer like the MX61 or 49. more stage piano and less performance synth. Your daughter can always get a synth module in the future and control it from the MX88 via MIDI control.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem...ew... yesI said the "P" word! For decades I have chosen Yamaha because I rely on the quality and I've never had a problem...Well until I got an MX88. I feel the same way about Tascam. I don't know if it's just me or what but it seems these days everything is being made so cheaply. The tech is there but the hardware has gotten cheaper every decade. ANYWAY... I got my MX88 last June specifically to tackle a project I had planned for a year. Having previously had a few Motif's I'm familiar with what the MX has and for that...no surprises. The action is good, but I also have a P255 and these actions are supposed to be the same, but they are not. It's all about the feel. ANYWAY...right out of the box after getting everything setup to start the project I noticed a crackling noise every time I turned the MX on. Consistently on every power on with first note/chord strike. All on attack of the note. BUT... after a few notes it would subside. Knowing now... I should have immediately returned it, but anxious to get the project going I made the exception since the noise consistently seemed to subside upon playing. It was like it just needed to warm up. Fast forward to project completion. After weeks of practice and many out takes I had a track I was happy with. BUT as I began to listen more carefully readying for mixdown I began to notice there were STILL crackles within the track. Be they ever so subtle... they were there, all on the strike/attack of the note! Because this noise is specific to the strike/attack of the note I was able to work around it by playing a little less aggressively and was eventually able to get a keeper track. However some crackling was still there. I performed a number of tests to ensure it wasn't another piece of equipment or a bad cable and found unanimously my MX has a problem. So yesterday I boxed it up and sent it to the nearest service center and it should be interesting to see what they find. So that said... has anyone else noticed this dilemma?

Your grand piano sounded just OK. However, it would've sounded phenomenal if you had set the setting as though was closer to you or in a concert auditorium to get the more realistic sound as we generally know it. Actually, I'm listening through my monitor headphones from your YT acct. By the way, in case goo gle decides to come against you as they have against other church or conservative chans you may want to backup this video on bitchute and use Brave or Dissenter browser along with qwant and/or Duckduckgo search engines. Please don't feed the beast.

That can be use as stage but its not a stage piano! Its actually a syntheizer keyboard made for those who are artist of making create music of there own fun or not. Its not organ keyboard too! Peoplw who buy this for organ is stupid...... If you choose organ then get digital piano instead. What the point of using syntheizer if yiue not gonna play all the souns or do some dj chill musix on this?

Just wanted to share this. JESUS CHRIST died for us on a cross for our sins. 3 days after his death he resurrected and was, is, and will be The TRUE LIVING GOD. In a prayer repent from your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and ask for the HOLY SPIRIT to come into you in that same prayer as well. Have FAITH in Christ. You could come to Jesus Christ as you are, but once you accept Him, you must become new, change, and be born again, and also turn away from your wicked ways. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. God Bless You. The Bible is the true word of God. Please read the Bible and you will see Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Praise only be to God. JESUS CHRIST IS COMING SOON FOR HIS CHURCH.

“Better worship building” hmmm,, maybe if your worship and dedication is strong Monday through Saturday, you won’t need youtube lessons to make you pretty and polished for Sunday. So tired of commercialized church.
