I was using a shoulder / messenger bag but a month ago after a moderate walk, my neck and shoulder were really hurting. I had an old Lowepro backpack but its too big for moderate distances so I got it's smaller brother, the Lowepro Runner 200 AW Camera Backpack. It was used, but like new, and holds camera, two extra lenses and all the bits needed, plus my travel tripod. The weight distribution is much much better, in fact the weight of my full frame kit pulls me upright and helps my posture, much easier. The larger backpack I have is the Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Camera Backpack which has slightly wider shoulder straps, more comfortable for longer distances - tip, you don't HAVE to fill these bags, a little empty space means a little lighter, and room for a snack and a drink too!

I believe that the pockets that are on the chest straps have a holder for the rode wireless microphones which you can attach, record and when done you can close the zippers and not risk loosing them. That would be potentially a better positioning than how you do it currently by placing it on the chest straps 😀. I don't take credit for that, I just watched another youtuber present this bag and he mentioned it.

Nice Attilio. So many bag company's coming out with their newer version of their larger/compact bags now.... Like many I have way to many. I will be selling off 4 of them. I am 62 now and age is catching up on my shoulders. I am finding for me organization is always important, but extra well padded straps are my #1 priority, a internal frame helps support the load and makes the weight much easier for me to deal with on a long walk/trip. I have the Peter McKinnon bag for everyday. I recently wanted to start carrying with me on trips (if we can make those again) my 150-600 lens just in case. My feeling is , I have traveled all that way, I should have everything I need, and....be comfortable. I have purchased the Wandrd Fernweh bag with the pro insert that will allow the 15-600 lens, internal frame and great straps and room for all my travel and hiking equipment. Unfortunately....they are not sending it to me for free....😟 I think I need to start blogging ...lol. Hope to have it by mid July, and will let people know how it works for me. Thanks for the video Attilio, the bag looks good on you and a bit smaller then the Shimoda you were using, is their an internal frame ? And how are the straps? Take care, looking forward to your next Video. My next big Trip is Japan in April, and would love to visit Italy....considering December visit.... We will see.

Missing your videos. Yours is the best on You Tube for landscape photography. But I realize it's a lot of work and time to make videos and can take away from the enjoyment and experiences of still photography. I tried it once but it wasn't for me.

I don't have a camera bag specifically, but I have been using a nice Samsonite NuRoad backpack. It is lined with soft, thick material, which keeps my gear safe. Also doubles as an excellent travel backpack with lots of large pockets. Any plans to shoot another telephoto lens video since the one on the mountain didn't work out? Always enjoy your videos. I have the Shimoda Explorer 30L. Love the bag. One thing to note, for most women to wear comfortably we need to get the women's straps. Unfortunately you can't order them separately. They have to be purchased. That is one thing that I don't like about the bags and wish I didn't have to incur the additional expense.

The women's straps no longer cost extra $ on the kickstarter campaign. The bag will come with the regular straps but you will be able to choose a women's replacement strap at checkout.

I know this is a video about packs...but I was hoping for some new camera insight. I sold my Nikon D7100. Now I'd like to get another DSLR. I currently have a Sony A6000. I'm looking for something that's really good for landscape and macro but can work well for portrait too. I'm on a pretty tight budget so definitely looking at used options and really need to stay at $800 or less for the body. Leaning towards a Nikon D610 or maybe the D800/800E. Thoughts? I don't object to a crop sensor and in fact I was also considering a D7500.

I was very inspired by Attilio's use of his D810. That is the reason why I got one. I couldn't afford the 850 and went with the 810. I have been very pleased with it's performance in stills, time-lapse and slow shutter. As his body of work is ample to reveal, it is an excellent camera for landscape, as well as astrophotography. After destroying my first one, I purchased a used one for $965 w/tax & shipping. under 12000 shutter count and US warrantied. Hope this helps...

Hi Attilio It looks like you have the exact same setup that I do with a large core unit and the TVC-34L + BH-55 ball head. I currently own the Action X50. Can you tell me how much room is on the top compartment for the Explore V2 E35? Can you use the pockets adequately and can a 70-200 lens hood fit with enough tolerance? One of the reasons I am returning the E30 is because it feels like too much of a tight fit to use the large mirrorless core unit in the bag size. Cannot use the zippered pockets on the top compartment properly.

If a camera backpack does not come with sufficient storage for a rain jacket and/or sweatshirt, lunch and hydration it is not a Landscape Photography bag. It’s for street shooting, real estate photography or models. The older bag was a better choice.
