My New LTR450 Will Not Stop Sputtering...

I planned on uploading this video last saturday but I ended up not having time to upload it, still do not have any news on it being fixed yet unfortunately. Hopefully it will be fixed soon though.

Just picked up a 2006 LTR also. Got it for dirt cheap but wasn't running or turning over. Ended up only being a faulty tether kill switch. By passed that and went back to the original wire setup. Finally got it running but it's doing exactly what yours is. Before I bite the bullet on the injector I'm going to cycle some injector treatment into the lines and see if I can get it to clean it out. Also, I'm going to make sure all my sensors are clean and what not. These things seem to have a crazy amount of sensors/electrical issues. Can't complain for the price but it's still rough on the edges. I'll let anyone else know if my injector idea works.

The idle adjustment is on the throttle body check that the cold start cable isn't broken.

The fuel pump must be opened clean out the filter underneath proper, the Tea bag under the tank itself must be cleaned and blown out nicely, then lastly remove the injector and make sure its cleaned out nicely, also try give it a bit of Fuel system cleaner in a small bottle that you can apply pressure to, and then pulse it with 12volt till you see injector basically sprays out nicely! Then assemble your prob shoulf be gone.

Ltr’s are known to have fuel problems. Mine did it and it ended up being the swirl filter which seems to get a lot of people I just removed it and replaced it with a Spectre in like filter and runs fine now

Same thing happened to mine. I have a 2007. Ended up replacing the injector and fuel filter. Ran perfect after that runs strong now.

I just fixed mine. It was doing the same thing basically. I replaced the fuel regulator. I also put new gas in it, make sure to use 93 octane! Now it runs like a champ.

Fuel filter /swirl in LTR450’s are always clogging up. Maybe clean ur intake n throttle body real good, and check the injector? Hope you find out what the issue is. Good luck.

had the same problem changed the spark plug (5.00) fuel filter delete (27.00) and injector (190.00) runs PERFECT now

Mine just did this after tearing it down, cleaning it, and put new gaskets on it because of a oil leak. The yellow wire at the tps sensor ended breaking off when I removed it and didn't pay attention to it lol.

I hope you got a good deal because you didn’t check it over worth shit before buying. Check fluids, start cold, ride through all gears at all throttle positions, run till fan comes on, turn off, start back up.

i now its a little late now amd youve propably already fixed the problem but mine also did that and if you look inside of that thing under the gas tank by that you said leaks petrol when you turn it inside that thing there is an tea bag filter clean that filter up because there can be a lot of dirt and junk even rust in there. And idle srew is behind that feul pump mine has keinin filter on there hope it helped🙈

Mine takes just under 4 qts of oil . 400ml in the case and fill it till the dip stick in the reservoir

For future reference I’ve had 6 of these in the shop and the injector screen was always the culprit and is the easiest to see if that’s clogged before you start taking other things off

It's the fuel pressure regulatortake it off blow it all out clean it all out and that will most likely solve your problem check your fuel pressure if your fuel pressure is anything below forty it's either your fuel pump or the regulator but it's most likely the regulator had the problem with mine beat my head on the wall for a month trying to figure it out and then came across the post one day explaining how to clean it and I did that put it back together in the bikes never ran better

Fuel injector you can clean it it. take it out blow air into it from the bottom up. also you can adjust the idle with the throttle cable at the thumb throttle.

That is absolutely the wrong way to adjust your idle by the throttle cable that's how people end up getting killed the idle adjustment is on the right side of the throttle body where that plastic cover goes over the throttle cable

look past the fuel pump, youll see the idle screw, best to use an long screw driver

That's not the idle screw the idle screw is on the right side of the throttle body where the throttle cable attaches the one that you're using to raise or lower the idle is the air screw so I did the same thing on mine but if you get that out of whack it will start hard if you have it shut too much so again the throttle adjustment is on if you're sitting on the bike is on the right side where that plastic cover goes on there's a set screw that goes up from the bottom that's your throttle adjustment

@@lildave4954 sorry throttle body the screw that you are talking about that is not the idle screw that is the air screw the idle screw is on the right hand side of the throttle body on the bottom side of where the plastic cover screws on there's a set screw and a jam nut that is the idle screw the one you're talking about is the air screw which should be out two turns

Bad gas can cause a crap load of issues with an ltr fuel system. When moisture gets mixed with fuel that contains Ethanol it causes it to separate out of solution and creates a florescent yellow elephant snot kinda gel that will sink to the bottom of your tank and plug up all sorts of strainers and filters.
