My New Marin Stinson 1

I've had a Stinson for a year and I can confirm that's a very comfortable bike for daily use and for my surprise it's tremendously solid. Simply mounting hydraulic brakes I punished her on the local trails that I usually ride on my enduro bike and the behaviour is amazing, nervous, but transmits a lot of confidence even with roots, stones and small jumps, and with those Vee hybrid tyres! Considering that maintenance reduces to greasing the chain, hands down one of the best bikes I've ever owned 😊

I really enjoy mine..the geometry is just enough of a difference from my fatbike to be more comfortable...I am on mostly rail trails with it. Have a more aggressive set of tires on order as the stock ones get sketchy on the clay base.

A year or so later, was this bike the right choice? Any regrets or feedback for someone considering one in mid 2024?

I've had zero regrets with this setup. I swapped out the original grips for N49 Ergo grips. No numb hands and a lot less stress on my neck with its frame setup. I've taken it on the same trails as my fatbike with no trouble at all.

Really like this bike, but would have preferred an Altus derailleaur.

I don't mind the current set up, I am considering trying a 11spd drive upgrade next winter.

Great looking bike...I have been looking at one of these for a while. Can I ask what size you went for and your height please?

Thanks, I really like the colours and the more upright seating, the frame is Large, I am 5-'11"

@Time To Xplore I like them too they are quite different to other bikes out there and I like different. I'm 5ft 9 there is a medium available in my area but I'm not sure it would fit me.

The guy at the bike shop said he had a unique bike for me to look at and I said the same I like different/unique. According. to their website a M fits 5'-5" to 5'-8" Large 5'-8"-5'-11"

@Time To Xplore I thought as much it seems there is a big shortage of marin bikes in the UK at the moment. The only ones seemingly available are medium in stinson 2 and xl in stinson 1.

@@s.m.5386 Here in New Brunswick we had a shortage the last 2 years this year seems to be getting more consistent with stock, but Large of practically any make is a challenge. I got the last large of the Marin and the shop wasn't sure if or when they would get more.
