Fair and honest review. I'll give you that. Hope you kept your V3X. I did, even after adding the Phase 4 to my stable. I opted for the 33 variant rather than the 29 but I still favor the V3X. I'm coming from Hoyt after 9 years of shooting their carbon bows. Like yourself, I also like Elite and still have the Answer. My son gets all my hand-me-downs and I just enjoy pitting one bow against the other from time to time. The peep twist is a real problem on Matthews bows. Wish they'd fix it. Having to press a bow to put a few twists in is ridiculous for such an expensive item. But you can't beat their lifetime warranty and they make parts for obsolete models. Many moons ago I shot a Matthews Solocam 32" to eliminate the cam timing issues I had with Proline's hatchet cams. My very first bow dates me. It was made by Xi Indian Archery. The Myles Keller Impact Plus. Compound bows have come a long way.

If your bow is properly tuned, you will not have peep twist. I have a v3 and it is a non issue.

I love that you're telling some of the truth that we all know. Their strings and grip are the worst. Might be time to go back and give Hoyt and Elite another shot. They are making the biggest impact and improvements. Mathews had only put out the Halon for years now.

I really don’t believe that the rubber between the limbs is going to last the test of time. I can see future dry rotting issues/ deterioration. Hope I’m wrong. Also watched your other video. Imo FMJ are overpriced junk. I switched to serious archery Apollo arrows. Unbelievable quality. Night and day difference. Small company is also a plus. Finally I would add, do yourself a favor and start building your own arrows. Total game changer. Even good shops cut corners. It makes a huge difference. Tuning inserts and nocks might be the most impactful thing you can do to affect your accuracy. Good luck with your channel.

Shot both the V3X and Phase 4 side by side at STX and Texas Archery.shops this weekend. Could not discern any difference between the two, other then price - so I bought a brand new V3X 33. And it just looks better. Didn’t care much for the weatherstripping look on the Phase 4 limbs.

I love me V3X 29. Not enough improvements on the phase 4 for me to upgrade this year. We’ll see what they come out with next year. This is the first year in a long time I did not upgrade to the latest and greatest Mathews. I shot the V3-31 two years ago and upgraded to the V3X last year. I used to always run the Rouge R19 strings on my new Mathews But I switched to the Gas Ghost strings on the V3X last year and I will never look back. Those strings have not budged and I shoot every day. I also run the Hamskea Mathews addition rest on the V3X. Best rest out there in my opinion. I’m good for another year!

Nice bow. I have the v3x 29. In granite wt red and black custom strings. Spot Hogg fast Eddie xl double pin sight in the bridge lock. Hamskea epsilon rest made for mathews. Conquest control freak pro stabilizers wt the smacwrap tech. A 11 inch in the front and a back bar wt a 9 inch in the rear.i have the mathews low pro 1 pc quiver. And engage limb legs. The bow is steady and fast.same specs as the phase 4. Just put on gas strings in flo orange wt gun metal servings

Matthews came out with a very cool concept with the phase 4 limbs and stabilizer system but then totally shot there self in the foot with the pricing of there stabilizer accessories.. if your target shooting more then actual hunting then the phase 4 with its limbs and quietness isn't worth paying the money. I have a v3 31 ATA fully built and I can NOT justify upgrading to the phase 4 with what little difference it actual makes..

I have been thinking about getting one. I’m ready to upgrade to a real bow. I hunted with a bear divergent eko and it gets the job done but it’s just not a Mathews. I gave you a sub. I had a feeling you was from Pitt just from the accent, and then you did say you was in Pitt. So maybe I will check out that archers edge. I was going to check out bucks and bows in cranberry. But idk now I like hearing good reviews on bow techs in the Pittsburgh area

The integrated stabilizer is crucial to achieve their intended performance, it eliminates a significant amount of noise and vibration compared to a traditional stabilizer when paired with the bow. Imo, id only feel the need to get the front bridgelock stabilizer. Check out the elkshape podcast with the lead engineer over at mathews, he goes into detail everything about that bow, if you haven't listened already 😀

I have a V3X 33 with the flat line stabilizer and shot the Phase 4 set up with their integrated stabilizer system. I could not tell a difference. I have heard all of the hype, but it is just that hype. It looks cool and it's neat that you can change the length as needed, but to say it's "crucial to achieve their intended performance" is inaccurate. When you screw a stabilizer into the bushing which is already located in the bow that piece becomes 1. But, if you want to spend over $700 on the stabilizer system and by spending that you feel it is better then go for it. Always remember, you're only one purchase away from that perfect shot.

Idk what you guys are talking about, the stabilizer is $249- to $269.99. Listen to the Elk Shape podcast from November 15th with Mathew's lead engineer Mark Hayes. He breaks it down elegantly. No one is saying it will make you a better bow hunter, but it is a fact that it is an increase in performance and convenience. Whether or not it's 'worth it' is subjective to the individual

Zebra strings aren’t junk if your bow guy is as good as you think he is. They win millions with them every year. Mathews staff shooters are contracted to shoot zebra strings in all competition. I’ve got 100 thousand plus arrows through zebra strings. No peep twist no stretch. All this mess about factory strings being junk are user errors. I’ve never had a peep twist. Never had a cable stretch after the break in period. That goes for all strings on the 80 plus bows I’ve owned in 10 years.

I think zebras suck also. yes have won lots of tournaments but there changing there stings monthly. Probably every tournament is a new set. My vxr 28 I blew through mine in a month and a half. Yes I shoot way more than the average guy. Probably 100 plus arrows a day !! I now go through 2 sets of Gas strings a year. only because I switch up bows very often or I'd go through 3 sets a year for sure !! ZEBRAS STRINGS SUCK DIC !!

Contracted or not, most of those pros build their own strings or have them built. Most tournament pros use a natural string with no dye to reduce stretch. So there would be no telling them apart from a stock string
