Good evening, the guitar is actually made in our country, most likely in the NBE Hořovice factory (I hope I'm not mistaken). This company owns several brands of guitars and basses. It also produces for other well-known brands. In the past, cult Czech guitars of the Jolana brand were produced here. It is still produced today in updated and very good versions. The Maybach brand does not have a dealer here, it is ordered in Germany. I believe that due to the long-term tradition of production in this company, the quality will be OK, and perhaps it will correspond to the price. Greetings and I wish you a nice weekend. The Maybach sounded good enough, but I was surprised by the hi-ish price for a "lookalikey" I wonder why these high quality manufacturers don't just "back themselves totally" stay away from look-alikes and just sell original shape guitars only??. Definitely a nice ax mate, but I have to tell you that your comment about Eastman caught my attention the most, as I truly think Eastman is the future in the USA and I truly think they are definitely a big part of it in the UK too. I think they are taking the Gibson LP market by storm and honestly, I have nine of them already as I had 24 Gibson guitars nine of them collector choice models I have started selling my Gibson really love the Eastman stuff. I have changed out the pick ups on most of the standard models but the boutique pick up, mark allows us to truly hang every, one of our heroes on the wall especially at Eastman prices. I truly have a hard time believing there’s another company out there that’s going to beat that price and quality although I think you do have a nice guitar there and certainly it is unique. thanks again for the great demo and as usual great show. 8:37

Part of the "journey" in the guitar world is the realisation that the name on the headstock doesnt always mean that its going to be a good guitar.Or its even made by that manufacturer. Not the best example of a guitar player...but Oasis managed to achieve success playing "mere" Epiphones.You rarely see Noel nowadays without a Gibson. Eric had to buy several Strats to make one good one. Slash managed for years playing a Gibson copy But given a choice between a Gibson Les Paul Standard and a Maybach copy...given that they are similar price £2400 ish....I would choose the Gibson everytime.If nothing else...the Gibson will hold its value better. Epiphones and similar guitars at 1/10th the price of Gibson etc...are good value.But copies for the same money....sorry I dont feel it.

yea I dunno a company that young demanding sky high prices is lunacy in my book, I KNOW what it takes to build these and what these materials cost in bulk, they want $2500.00 for about $250.00 worth of wood and components and that's ridiculous., they don't have a name that insures value, no reputation nothing in fact they don't even have a guitar anywhere that they can point to and say yea they stand the test of time... people wanna get ripped off that's their business, not for me, way too many of these companies coming out demanding huge money for knock offs and they haven't been in the biz long enough to charge more than entry level .. take the baby blue strat they have on reverb, whats so special about that guitar they can demand $2000.00 for it? I don't see it, its strange head stock design, knock off body design offering nothing special at all, I'd be willing to bet I can stack a $250.00 Eart strat up against it and it loses in a big way .. just pure insanity, nothing i'll be supporting or condoning, its all way out of control way out of hand.. again if Europeans want to pay it let em, don't think you'll ever recoup that on resale or trade tho, ever...

Personally, I think the “affordable” reviews are more useful than reviews of expensive ones, since expensive guitars are expected to be good anyway. It’s the “bang for buck” products that are wonderful to find. Love your reviews.

The price for this Maybach isn`t really expensive, for what you get. A Gibson Guitar of this qualitiy is much more expensive. The extreme cheap chinese made guitars predominantly sound equal in some ways for my taste .

Maybach, Eastman, Tokai, and FGN continue to show with authority how much Gibson is overcharging while failing on quality control and blackmailing dealers into sales volume guarantees that smaller dealers cannot meet. Not meaning ill for the actual workers at Gibson, but they are clearly not qualified luthiers and the greedy corporation they work for sucks. I have a Maybach Teleman 61 Custom Red Rooster that runs circles around Fender Custom Shop guitars at less than half the price. I was looking at a Lester (LP style) but finally went with the Eastman SB59/v back then. Not because there was anything wrong with the Maybach, just I liked the varnish finish and the lack of a stupid floating pickguard (which unforgivingly comes premounted on all Lesters) better. I did pay around 2,300 EUR for the SB59/v (with one piece body and neck, ebony fretboard, proper Jescar frets and the phantastic Lollar Imperial pickups). My buddy bought a reliced Murphy Lab '59 for 11,800 EUR two weeks ago. It weighs over 3 Pounds more than my Eastman and the Custombuckers are muddy and do not even have proper string separation. The relicing does not look like natural ageing, it looks like these gaudy torn designer jeans from the 90s. Go figure.

That’s one sweet looking guitar and the case is a work of art as well. I love Gibson, but as we all know it’s hit and miss with them. Biggest thing, if it makes you happy and inspired, it’s the right guitar for you! I’ve never heard of Maybach guitars before, but now I need to do some research 😊

I’ve had a Maybach Lester for a few years now the quality and playability is exceptional. A mate of mine bought a custom built Les Paul about a year ago we compared the guitars I have to say the Maybach held its own even my mate was loathed to admit it. There are some differences but in terms of quality and playability they were close very very close in fact, considering he paid and is still paying more than twice what I paid for the Maybach I’m very happy. I have always said The Maybach is Custom Gibson quality for Standard price. Oh and the Amber pickups on The Maybach are some of the best. Forget the G brand on the headstock and just play the damned thing

Maybach is making some brilliant guitars at the moment. My boy Owen has two Maybach Corvairs - a kind of slightly stretched Les Paul with a unique slotted headstock. He absolutely loves them…he toured them across the world last year with the Chicks.

So I bought a Squier NC7 guitar (1998) Rosewood/22 frets. Swimming pool routing. Paid $100. Upgraded with a $90 Rockin’R Guitars prewired with a Gilmour switch. $190. Sounds epic. There are just way too many options out there that makes spending stupid money unnecessary. To each his own. This sounds great. Not a fan of fake “used” look. I will play my new “rare” ‘98 and keep the remaining $1,300 thank you very much. Next time always give us the radius. Fender got the radius right at 9.5. Don’t have any use for aircraft carrier fretboards.

Colin, I love every single thing about it! What a super KEEPER. I stopped by the shop to see my friend yesterday and he pulled out an Iommi SG with P-90's! The neck strap lock is on the top horn, thus balancing the guitar. Very good show this week, thanks so much for this guitar!

I would never criticize yhou Collin for reviewing affordable guitars because I have never been one to have a lot of cash handy to buy what some would call "elite" guitars. I do have a 2006 1962 American VIntage Reissue Jaguar but that was 18 years ago. The only other guitar I have is the recently-purchased EPiphone Les Paul Junior. To be truthful, in the last month, I have played the Epiphone every bit as much as the Fender. And as you say, what Epiphone does best is make affordable guitars that give many people the opportunity to enjoy playing them. Otherwise, they would be completely shut out.

After playing a Maybach Lester honey pie and Eastman SB59v, my opinion is that the Maybach seems more authentic with very chunky neck. SB59v has Lollar Imperial pickups, the Maybach has German made "Amber" pickups (spirit of '59) that sound better to me.

I'm with Col on juniors and P90s, one pickup is all you need and if you are going to have just one pickup, a P90 is a great choice IMHO. One of my juniors is a vintage SG junior (like Colin's) and I don't find neck dive to be an issue though I tend to use leather straps with unfinished leather on the underside which is kind of grippy without being uncomfortable or sticky - nice against naked skin too for those rock and roll moments don't you know!

Although a Gibson Les Paul standard 60's model would just be 200 euro's more expensive than a Maybach Lester 60s model, I will buy the Maybach in a few months time. I played a 60's Maybach at a local guitar store and it feels very nice. The neck profile is about the same as my Gibson Les Paul Studio, but the pickups sound very wooly and miss the bark I'd want. I'm going to spend a few more bucks to put some bareknuckles into the maybach and put the Amber 59 pickups in a semi hollow. Why don't I go for the real thing? Gibson still makes good guitars but they are not the same as the guitars they built their legacy on. I'd rather have a copy that does not charge as much just for the brand name and puts that cash into a higher attention to detail. I don't care about resale value since I do not intend to sell the guitar any time soon.

If you can't sound good on a 1500-2000 euro guitar, you can't on a 5000 one either. Sure, those will be possibly looking very nice and be very exclusive or very vintage, but an electric guitar isn't an all that complicated instrument to build. For 1500- 2000 euros you should be able to get a perfectly built one.

A 4 conductor P90 allows you to coil tap (to exclude part - half? - of the pick-up winds) for a more ‘vintage’ sound/tone, as on my Custom Shop ES-335 with P90s, which is coil tapped via a push-pull on each volume control. Edit: Single Amber Dogear P90, on Amber website, states hand made in Germany, at €189.00.

But I personally think the Maybach is beautiful & I myself would probably go that route over a Gibson , I own one Gibson & I'll never get rid of it. It's a les paul junior double cut from 2019 , not expensive, but I love it. Love the channel & great playing per usual in my opinion. So, as maybach is a german name; itspronunced more like " maibach", the "ch" comes from the thtoat, its not "kk", the "ay" is more like " ai" . Its odd for english native speakers i know. Probably just have a look at german spoken car reviews from maybach cars? Greetings from switzerland!

I recently bought an SG and although it took a wee bit of time to get used to the difference, when compared to LP's and strats, I love the access to the higher frets. The pickups are pretty hot at over 10k ohms. Very nice guitar to play.

Not for me price wise but the relic is actually great. I would never relic a guitar or buy a relic myself unless it were honest. Not that I think it's cheating but I think it's paying for something that come naturally if you are indeed a player.

Yeah!!!!! Import Tax!!!!! I got nailed with that on an Epiphone Nighthawk I had purchased from Italy. This was the second instrument I had bought from a seller in that country, and the first time I had bought an EKO Bass. Which was substantially more than this Nighthawk, but did not receive any import tax. I was so mad!!!!

Better than Gibson ? Well ,these days there are probably 10 brands better than Gibson. Nice playin' meeold flower.

people just need to accept that well made quality guitars are made by other companies than just gibson. if you have the money and want a gibson you can but imagraid it just bugs people that the mid range priced guitars are just as good, not just ok but just as good the facts don’t care about price or label ego
