Ive had the gray set for 3 yrs. I absolutely love them. I don't use any other hooks. I even had the Chinese 7 (not US), 10 and 10 1/2. I want the pink and blue. My personal opinion is they give a nicer stitch. Yes they are expensive but they are worth it.

OMG. I'm dying to try these Pink Tulip hooks. However, I absolutely am afraid they won't glide as smoothly as the Clover Amours. Please, STITCHEZZ By NASH, since you own both brands, can you tell me which of the two (Clover vs. Tulip) has the smoother butter-like glide when the yarn does down the shaft? There has to be a winner. (I'll probably still purchase the Tulips because they're so pretty. Let's face it girls, we like them cuz they look purdeee.

Worry no more. The best crochet hooks on the market in my opinon that is. Gliders should be there name instead of Tulips. Clover Amour I love as a switch up . Smoother than Clover Amour and Lighter in the hand and softer too. Buy one and try it, Let me know what you think

I ADORE my pink tulip hooks! And the case is gorgeous. I just got another rose set recently (because you can't have too many tulips). I love that they have the mm sizing. American letter sizing is ridiculous and does not quantify anything. Ugh. That's my crochet pet peeve. The tulip etimo hooks in gray DO have American sizing but the drawback is that you don't get the Pink! :/

Yes, They ABSOLUTELY Are Worth it...since purchasing them, these are the only hooks I use, unless I need a bigger size of course, because "J" is the biggest size that this kit comes with

I bought a few of these hooks (not as the set) and they really are wonderful to work with. Definitely worth the money IMO.

The most likely reason they are not marked both sizing is that metric vs imperial sizes do not perfectly match up. If marked with both there will be a slight discrepancy between a hook and the true size. Thats also why they just leave out a size that does not have a close equivalent match. If they did mark them with both measurement scales then guage would be slightly off in the case of where the pattern thats used will have been written for one scale (metric vs imperial), but not the other. Probably doesnt matter much over a large garment, but could get it all wrong with smaller items. Cheers

I have the Tulip originals. They have dark taupe handles and gold hooks. I adore them even though they're not as pretty as the pink ones! The shafts are so smooth that crocheting with them is a dream. I also have the Clover Amour crochet hooks. I love them, too! They're very similar to the Tulips, and they come in pretty bright colors. LOL. I have a problem! Some women love shoes. I love my hooks and yarn!

Hey Maribel, You mentioned that you have both the Clover Amour & the Tulips series hooks....which of the two has the smoother-glide on the neck for the yarn? I see that the Tulip hooks are shiny/pinkish. In other words, aside from the looks, colors, cases, etc... Who is the winner of the two when it comes to the smoothest shaft that makes the yarn glide like butter?? Thanks. :)

I don't have the pinkish Tulips. I have the original ones which have the taupe handles and gold shaft. They are are DEFINITELY smoother than the Clovers. The shaft is very polished on the Tulips while the Clovers have more of a brushed metal look and feel. It makes a big difference because the shape of the hooks themselves is almost identical. So yes, the Tulips are the winners in the smoothness and glide category in my humble opinion. :)

erum ayaz they aren't as expensive as you think. When you get the set, they average out to nine dollars per hook, PLUS a gorgeous case, SHARP scissors and some tapestry needles. Nine bucks per hook is much cheaper than other "premium" hooks. And these ARE premium hooks. They are quality! At this point, I won't use anything except tulips, if I can help it.

I've heard some say the hooks either split the yarn too easily or don't grab it well, because of the shape of them. So I'd love to know if you have the same issue and the other thing was that the sizing on them are only transfers? I wonder if they would come off after awhile. I bought a great set of interchangeable hooks which I love but I noticed on my most used hook that the size is wearing off. So I have to work out what I'm going to do about that. Kim Currie I hope by now you've gotten some tulips but, if not, I can answer you: They do NOT split the yarn. In fact, I find that they split the yarn much less than other hooks. The cut in the hook is not deep, that's true. That means you can glide through stitches easily. If you are used to that awfully deep throat of the Bates hook, it will be a big change. But that's what I HATE about Bates. The yarn seems to get caught in the hook because it holds on to the yarn. As for the transfers on the handle, they aren't going anywhere. I only use tulips. I got my first tulips about 2.5 years ago (wish I had known about them sooner, lol). They've gotten consistent use (as I said, I only use tulips - except for larger hooks that tulip doesn't make) since then and the handles look as good as the day I got them. No signs of wear on the label. They are very permanent. These are quality hooks. Amazon has the best price. You can buy individual hooks on Amazon too. Get one and try it before you commit to the set of ten hooks. Also, they have a gray/taupe set of 8 hooks that is less expensive, if you don't care about pink (I LOVE pink!). It isn't quite as fancy but the hooks are the same. Both the gray and the rose come in a 6.5 mm hook as well. That size isn't included in the sets but Amazon has them individually. They also have a mini set of the rose hooks. It comes with three hooks. I've got multiple sets of tulips, in both rose and gray, because there's no such thing as too many tulips. LOL
