I've got a Peterson chrome lined silver lighter (same as Bradley from Stuff and Things) and it's almost identical to yours (also double flame) with the sole exception of that samurai looking flip tip. I wonder if they're made in the same factory in Japan. For cost and fuel capacity, I prefer these to the Old Boy lighters that sacrifice butane storage for that small pipe tool.

Eddie: Damn it.... you got me. Just ordered one of those today. Hope you get some flints in soon!!!
@ThePipeNook5 жыл бұрын
As soon as Kiribi ships them out, I'll have them! They've been backordered for some time. For anyone who sees this, I'll let you know that even though Kiribi flints are the best made, quality flints I've ever seen, I've never even used them. Flints last a LONG time, and I've been using a small pack of either Zippo or Ronson flints that I purchased some 20 years ago. :)

Eddie, Kiribi (切り火) translate to "a fire" while Mizo (溝) means groove. Great lighters. I like the Kuroi.

On the wish list. My wooden matches have that great, soft flame, but the relights necessitate having some sort of receptacle for the spent strikes. The Kiribi or another 320 or 673 [if I don't win the VR GAW, lol] Tough choice.
@daspiper89415 жыл бұрын
Eddie, it is a double flame. Kiribi lighters have two holes in their nozzle, thus the double flame appearance.

Hello Eddie. The chrome and black lighter is a Mikazuki, I believe. A couple of weeks ago, you were lamenting not being able to get Peterson tobaccos. I don't know if it has any thing to do with the tobacco end and I don't know if you were aware but Laudisi, parent of Smokingpipes.com bought Peterson Pipes around July of last year.
@ThePipeNook5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I had heard that they bought Peterson pipes...but not the pipe tobacco portion of the business. Recently, I've heard through the YTPC grapevine that Peterson Tobaccos were purchased by Scandinavian Tobacco Group, and that their versions of Peterson Tobaccos will be in circulation soon, hopefully sometime this year. I also heard that not all of the Peterson Tobaccos will be making a return...some blends will be discontinued, but we're not sure which ones just yet.

Great lighters. Mine is 2 years old and not one issue with it. I use it 100% of the time. Holds a lot of butane as you mentioned.A breeze to open and light quickly.

Good vid Eddie. Thanks.
@smokingbuddymatt61315 жыл бұрын
expensive; yes. However; they are priced about the same as a decent pipe from Savenelli, so instead of buying another pipe just pick up a fine lighter.

How would you compare the quality of this one vs a Xikar or a Tsubota Pearl ?
@ThePipeNook2 жыл бұрын
Kiribi pipe lighters are some of the best available, and to my estimation, far better than Xikar lighters. I don't have any experience with Tsubota lighters, however.

I love Japanese products and own the same one. However, mine never worked out of the box. Their customer service is nonexistent, took many emails up the chain to get a response. In the end, they never did what they said they would do and replaced it. Instead, they claimed to have sent it to the repair shop, came back, and still would not light. In my opinion, I would not waste your money. I now own a $100 paperweight.
@ThePipeNook2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about your trouble with that lighter. I'm not sure what company you purchased your Kiribi from, but I would have reached out to that company rather than Kiribi. I can tell you that I work directly with my customers to get defective lighters replaced, if within the 2-year manufacturers' warranty. Beyond that, I direct folks to the US-based Kiribi distributor, and have never had an issue. All the best to you for your future transactions! I'm here if you need me! Feel free to send me a message through the contact section of my website if you ever have any questions.

The Kiribi is cheap, I smoke one bowl a day and the hinge wears out in two years. Gas escapes, the flame may not go out and can become a fire hazard. SP has a monopoly on parts and only would sell them to me after making a bad review. They wanted me to spend $35 plus $20 international shipping to repair a $65 lighter every two years, on parts that cost around $2.50, don’t think so! The screws strip real easily, you’ll have to constantly keep them tight or they fall out or your lighter disintegrates in your hand. I have abandoned the Kiribi and can’t recommend it. After another bad review SP gave me my money back. Great customer service, but it was necessary to call them out over money grabbing tactics and marketing the lighter to us. I will be buying an IM corona old boy as soon as I find the one I like on sale, and according to chuck, this thing will hopefully last me ten years. Should have tried it from the start, but I am glad SP made good on the Kiribi.

Interesting...I have 4 Kiribi lighters now, and haven't had anywhere near that kind of trouble...hardly any at all, and the little trouble I've had is due to me mistreating them...not cleaning them very often, using various kinds and quality of fuel, etc. I mistreat mine basically to test them, because I now carry them in my shop. They've all been champs! Laudisi is now their US distributor and has a repair shop here in the US, so international shipping should no longer be an issue. In any case, as I always say, use what works best for you!

@@ThePipeNook I’ve discovered a flaw and have a few videos I may post demonstrating this, but I am still talking with SP about it. When you light your pipe the flame can reach the polymer T hinge and melt it. It could be a reason, why it weakens so fast. A new hinge has a square face, mine (used) was rounded indicating it had melted and you hay want to check your Kiribi for this. You’ll have to change the angle in which you light your pipe, to lessen the risk. One reason I use a quality lighter is to avoid plastics, and you still have to worry about the risk of burning and inhaling that stuff with this lighter.
