I’m not sure how much work Jerry Robin has done to his engine but I’m going to guess it was not stock. That was something that was really noticeable in the comparison video at Glen Helen. Not only were his lines better but his bike just looked like it had way more get up. His bike on the camera just looked like it exploded forward any time he got into the power. Your bike did not look like that. This is a sand track so it’s not super comparable to glen Helen but I can definitely notice more of that “explosive” power Jerry’s bike had in this video.

So when you say engine rebuild, from what I could hear you say in the video, you mean a top end job, right? I know factory teams also do a lot to the bottom end of the engines (transmission, crank, bearings, etc.) Can you give more, specific details, if possible. I find all of this stuff fascinating. You do look really fast on your bike! Thanks for the great videos.

@swedish_sadhguru38542 ай бұрын
why would you downtune it instead of riding a 250?
@Randy_Cox2 ай бұрын
@@swedish_sadhguru3854 because I already have a 250 and it isn't detuned to 250 power levels....more like 400 power level. To be honest it is only tuned down below 50% throttle and below 7,000 rpm. Once you twist more than 50% or revvover 7,000 it goes straight back to full power. Makes tight trees, roots and rocks much easier to get through.

@@Randy_Cox I see, interesting setup!
@brantleyanderson34272 ай бұрын
Genuine question and not trying to start an argument, just curious. Why a 450 over a 2 stroke woods bike? I had a 21 450x and I hated it in the woods and got a husky 300 after about 6 months. If you do well on it more power to ya! Just was too much of a battle for me compared to my 2 stroke
@Randy_Cox2 ай бұрын
@brantleyanderson3427 Mainly because I am 6'2" 270lbs and having a bike with enough stank to move me around is awesome. My KX250x is setup on race gas, exhaust and it still bogs and is slow to rev with me on it. The 450, detuned with pump gas will wheelie over.🤣 And I like challenges.

That corner with the 3 rollers through the inside after the double into the corner and that hip roller needs to be looked at differently. I know it's easier said than done, but you need to figure out how to double that. That is the shit I am seeing all these top guys doing. Playing with the track. Hippin and hoppin. Have some fun. Flow with it instead of banging your way through. Just an opinion, of course, but you could gain at least a second a lap doubling one of them instead of rolling all 3.

Throw some ceramic bearings in those wheels, motors are cool, but you need to free up the friction.
@JeffWalker842 ай бұрын
Interesting suggestion. What company makes them? I'd love to try some
@dandlugolecki34082 ай бұрын
@@JeffWalker84 our distributor is “World Wide Bearings” out of NJ. He’s made all of the ceramic bearings for Stew, Carmichael, Reed, everybody. It’s honestly pretty stupid the difference. You’ll gain 15% power, and make your suspension work better. Doesn’t dig and sink into the dirt and sand so much, glides and floats easier. Friction is the enemy.

@JeffWalker842 ай бұрын
It's definitely one of the roomier cockpits, but you can make any bike fit any size rider with some fine tuning. I just like the feel of the austrian chassis and how smooth the power delivery is. Plus, they're nearly indestructible
