Great story John, I was in Vietnam when you were doing that in 65 but it reminds me of so many things in my youth also. You are so right, we all had to make up our own things to do back then, but we always had the Saturday movie to fill our time on the weekend :)

Nice stem on that pipe. We used to play kick the clan in the 40's in the middle of the road, there were no cars around then to run you down. Build dens, make bows and arrows, kids don't know what it is to have real fun now. You are a real story teller my friend, Alan.

There was still a fair amount of "cowboys & indians" play in my earlier years, but we were more influenced from WWII movies & shows on TV which took over from westerns. A lot of fun for sure! Have a great week-end Alan!

Great story. I grew up in the 70's and sounds much like the times I grew up in. The neighborhood game we used to play something very similar that would take up the whole block. I think we are doing a disservice to our young with all the gadgets they have now, no room for being creative, thinking outside of the box, or using your imagination. Simpler, nicer times I believe.

John that’s hilarious! I was born on in the mid 80’s and we played what you guys called the neighborhood game as well. Exact same thing. Two teams. But usually it was he younger crown would hide and the older crowd a few yes older we would be the searchers and go try to capture the other team. Ahhh good times! And how kids will think alike. So don’t worry. At least in the 90’s that type of fun wasn’t dead yet 😋
@Matches8605 жыл бұрын
It is funny how our games evolved as we grew up. If we had had cell phones back then we could have used the technology to shorten the time it took to cover the neighborhood LOL. That would have ruined the fun of the hunt though.

Rick Black pipe with a Rick White stem - Just LOOK at that GRAIN! I agree with Jonathan Want - your videos would not be the same without some kind of two-stroke engine running in the background. The back-up beeping and big clang were pluses.

Our version of the game was to divide into two teams and play what we called WAR. The object was to hit a member of the opposing with something. My favorite weapon was a friisby. I lived in a small town and the whole town was in bounds. Some of the games would last for hours. To be a kid again!
