Kenan I just want to tell you your such a great guy and I almost consider you a kind of a friend. ( I know this sounds weird ) About four years ago I found your channel and you have made me fall in love with tortoises. Since then I got 2 russian tortoises and 1 pardalis. I think they are the greatest pets ever. I have been watching your channel for four years now and still enjoying every video. Keep doing you!!

I think I just saw one of your tortoises " running" .And when I say running... I mean walking really quickly. While you were talking he was hauling ass over to the cactus. So cute. That's the fastest I've ever seen a tortoise walk so you were right. They do love that cactus

The tortoises seem very reserved. Those lizards? They're nuts! What characters they are, all of them. I think I like Petro and the Guapo family the most followed by Slinky and Pinky.

As a citizen from South Africa, and knowing where these Leopard Tortoises come from. I wonder how they leave the shores!? Maybe they just magically hopped on a crate, or box, deciding the want to leave their natural habitat in South Africa, and Africa and come live with you.

Do you see any difference in them eating from a solid chunk of cactus opposed to when you cut it up? It seems like it’s easier when it’s in a intact piece of cactus so they can get their foot on it and pull a chunk away.

Very different nutritional values though. Cactus pads are $1.50-2 each around here.

As far as keeping Leopards, I’m in CA, I have a horse and thus access to high quality Bermuda. Grass isn’t a thing, the yard is too dry, so would Bermuda hay be an ok substitute as long as I was giving preformed water in the form of cactus regularly as well?

Maybe the very large leopard tortoises are hybrids with sulcatas to achieve the size? Like at some point in their genetic history not necessarily one parent.

Can you tell me how fast leopard tortoises have grown year by year since they were babies?
@realangiechrist4 жыл бұрын
The prickly pear cactus is Opuntia ficus-indica aka Indian Fig, and I have a question re: the ticks- since I usually use diatomaceaous earth to control ticks, fleas, ants in my yard, is it ok to use that near tortoises or would it harm them? It scratches and desiccates the exoskeleton of the insects, but how would it affect the tortoise's skin? Just curious.

I have to say I'm a little surprised that your tortoises are more socialized. You're such as social guy and you love your animals so much I would think they would be used to being picked up and talked to and moved around. I guess you just kind of leave them be right? They're so cute employed you have a lot of knowledge about tortoises Kanen.?.is it ka and en? Or en than an? I al ways get if mixed up.
