It gets cold even in Florida and my reptiles need a good reliable heat source from heat bulbs or heating pad like the ones offered by Fluker and a safe shelter. But I need to make sure all of the power outlet and electric cords are in good shape to make sure that the lizards and tortoise like Slinky and his friends are safe and healthy! Once the new enclosures for Guapo and Lola and Petro and Petra are finished, I believe I recall Kenan saying that he's looking at giving Slinky all of the enclosed space that surrounds Slinky's current ends. Also will be getting a bigger pond with the possibility of Aquascape coming in and hooking Slinky up. Hope this was beneficial ✌

It's so cute how much he loves you. You walk in there and he's just hanging around your feet like a little puppy. What an amazing creature. You can sure tell he loves you. If a monitor can experience love that is. I'm sure they can because he smiles when you show up. 1 like truly Escape out of his enclosure and he just stayed right there. He just wanted to go swimming. It's funny when you called him a naughty boy.

Idk if you'll see this but...A cheap easy way to protect your cords: string them through an old garden hose, if they won't fit you can cut along the length of the hose, pop them in and a few pieces of duck tape will hold it shut.... for me they work better than store bought ribbed plastic protectors as they won't get brittle or snap apart.

@bouncebird3760 3 жыл бұрын
Heat pads only give off infrared C which does only penetrate the surface of an animal, which means the heating is less efficient and they will need to stay on the heat pad longer and will get less energized. A halogen bulb on the other hand produces Infrared A and B which penetrates deeper into the muscle (like the sun). Due to that the animal gets warm more efficiently and has more energy. The info about heat mats are outdated and we should always strive to give our animals the best care aswell as imitating nature as much as possible (aside from diseases and predators, etc).
@bhutch216
@bhutch216 3 жыл бұрын
@@bouncebird3760 I think you mean UVA and UVB. Basking bulbs are design to minimize IR light since it’s a superficial heat. UVA is what penetrates the skin and down into the muscle layers of the animal. Heating pads to emit any infrared at al. They just work of radiant heat and should not be left for an animal to lay on because it’ll burn the skin. They need to affixed to the outside bottom of the enclosure or inside lid. Well the sun does give of about 53% IR light, basking bulbs produce less than 1%.

I've been debating building an outdoor enclosure for my two Russian Tortoises, but with the weather here, I couldn't keep them outside year round its in the 30's right now, I have noticed one tortoise becoming dominant and a bit overweight so I do want to get them a larger enclosure to move around more, but still worried about predators and parasites, but I know its what is best for them, definitely going to build them one when I move out through as I want to get a colony to breed, as a lot of Russian Tortoises are wild caught so I want to help make captive bred babies more available

Is it just me or do some of those tortoises look like big pineapples? When he first moved the bush away I swear to God I saw a pineapple and not a little tortoise. Those big sulcatas that were walking towards him remind me of little old men. They're just so stinkin cute and so ancient looking and wise. Oh to just be able to live with Nature and with these animals like this guy does would be my version of Heaven. And the hard work that he does is amazing. And he does it all by himself. That's just crazy. I love how he speeds the camera up like he does when " tasking"....it reminds me of when I used to watch Bewitched... the way she'd wiggle her nose and then speed up to do housework. I just told my age didn't I? It's okay. I've earned every year of it.
