Fantastic saw you have there. Your excitement is mint. Can’t go wrong having two chainsaws. You showed us your birthdate on a milk carton in Bushcamp - Finally Getting the Fridge Running Off Solar at the Offgrid Cabin published August 26, 2020. So, wishing you a belated Happy Birthday, Trapline and Inlines! … - Enjoy! With an Old Mil or two of course. Be safe my friend.

Doing tree work I can say that the 194t, 261c and 462c are hands down the best saws. Whenever someone asks what saw to get I always say the 261c. You really can’t go wrong with that saw. Most used out of any chainsaw I have.

It's amazing how articulate and knowledgeable about things this kid is at his age. And such a wide range of skills. One day he's literally rebuilding a transmission by hand; next day he's teaching you how to clear-cut a forest with one saw.

"Buy once cry once" and "2 is one, 1 is none" Seems as I get older the more I realize how all those sayings the old timers tell me are spot on. They weren't saying them for no reason. I've had trouble with my Poulan for a couple years now and have been looking to get a Stihl, just not sure on the model yet. Definitely wont be one of the cheaper Stihl. This 261 looks perfect

The 261 is the lowest cc of the professional lineup of Stihl saws. We have one and really like it. We also have a 362 and 661 and an older 011 top handle. You will not regret buying either husqvarna or Stihl ‘professional’ series saws.

You are an awesome guy Kyle. This is why ppl love you so much. You cannot imagine how many ppl like you have no sense of direction or even want to do anything. So many addicts that may not ever get beyond that. You on the other hand are very resourceful and know what you want and go after it. I am sure there's a lot of us that would like to help you because they know how much you would appreciate what they could do for you no matter how much or little. That said, you are highly thought of and your vids are so anticipated! Do you think you will ever get another dog? As you know, they give you SO MUCH! I would love to see you have another one. And I was a logger ran the chainsaws every day

Great choice for a work horse of a saw. Hard to beat the power to weight ratio. It will serve you well for many years to come. Don't shy away from the 20" bar, I bury mine in Oak almost daily, with no issues, and keeps me from bending over too much when limbing and bucking. Keep up the good work bud!

Congrats on the new saw. I worked at a Stihl dealer for almost 20 years. Top quality saws. I’ve cut many cords of wood with them and own 3 from 49 to 72cc. Wouldn’t own anything else. Looks like we’re going to have a nice fall to get out and have some fun in the bush. Glad to see you’re doing great. Have a good one.

Fantastic saw. My 261c has a TON of hours on it and zero issues. Mine isn't an arctic, but I don't need that where I live. I don't use it a ton anymore as I have a 462 and a 500i as well which I do most of my felling and bucking with. You'll enjoy that 261 for many years. The only tip I have for guys that are new to M-tronic saws is to let the saw idle a bit after running it hard for a while. Let the M-tronic come back down to idle and reset itself before you shut it off. if you shut it off right out of a cut, it can cause some flooding issues. If that happens, just hold the throttle wide open while you start it. That usually clears it up.

Thanks for the breakdown & tutorial ~ always learn something cool through you. Know absolutely nothing else about chainsaws but I do know that Stihl makes pretty great products - have fun using it! (The warming handle is genius. Without it, can imagine hands cramping; especially when your fingers are fighting stiff gloves in cold weather. This little detail could significantly stop that.🤞)

Great saw man. lb for lb these things fucking rip bahd. I've used a lot of saws over the years, and the STIHL 261 series is phenomenal. One thing I'd recommend is to put some white lithium grease around the air filter seal, and keep it very clean. When these filters get clogged, the little bit of dust that pulls through the skirt will fuck that servo that runs the fuel mix in the carb. I'd buy a couple spares and keep them on hand. It's and easy swap, just like any other carb but with an electronic part. If it gives you trouble, 99% chance that's what it is.

Nice new Stihl saw! I know that you will get great service from it. I have a couple of small "homeowner" Stihl saws that I use mainly to cut up large tree limbs that come down in wind storms on our little mini-farm. They have served me well. The only problems I've had is when I run over them with my tractor. That kind of foolishness. 🤣 Looking forward to seeing the great things you'll do with your cold-weather saw!

You will love this saw! I have used Stihl chain saws for over 40 years. Never any issues on any of my saws just regular maintenance and not abusing them. I just purchased my 261C this spring and have cut about 3 cord of firewood to date. It seems to be running better now that it's getting broken in. I run a 20 inch bar and it is a great all around saw. I'm 71 and have no problem running this saw for several hours. I would suggest buying the Stihl sharpening tool made for your saw, they work extremely well and only take 5 minutes to get a sharp chain. I touch my chain up about every 4 tanks of fuel. Almost as quick as changing out the chain. It's worth the extra money for a professional saw, I'm just a firewood cutter but have cut hundreds of cords of firewood. I have a 280 Farm Boss 18 years old. A 170 Mini Boss 12 years old, and now the new 261C. For homestead or ranch use the 261C is perfect! Good luck with your new saw!
