Wow! You got a great deal for this bag! The dowel at the top is wood, and it was designed to take weight off of the bag when you have the shoulder strap on. The Willis is one of my favorite styles. I totally get what you mean. The leather on these vintage Coach bags is the closest I have felt to Hermes leather.

I remember that bag. The quality is awesome. We were a huge Coach family in the 80s and 90s. I still have my Coach purses from the early 90s.

Cool Jame! I 🖤 It! …the Willis is beautiful! Back when it was originally created with others such as the station bag, and in my designer’s perspective, I fully agree with you, it looks so luxurious in every way. Even next to the quilted tabby which I do agree has many improvements but wow just not like they used to make them, something special they did back then. A friend of mine began repurchasing her vintage coach approximately 5 years ago and she found a like new classic British tan Willis for $25! She even still has the old Coach small catalogues that they would send her, oh the bags in there are fabulous! PS the zippers on the vintage coach= like the big feed duffle sac, are so substantial and wonderful as well, check them out! Congratulations dear, as always your music and intro is fab and makes us smile🥰[and McCameraman too😉]

Oh my goodness $25.00!!! I wasn't very familiar with Coach non-outlet items growing up and then once I heard of Coach it was outlet. I have been so absolutely pleasantly surprised to see these vintage items. They are so beautiful. :-)
