Kris, you gotta love the wireless remote control! The motor is nice and substantial, and looks rugged. 10 speeds is a lot! That isn't much different than a totally variable-speed motor. It's easy realize that the motor is quiet as can be. I think you got a fabulous deal on this! Congratulations my friend!

I bought one myself. The first time I took it out with the wireless remote I noticed it would shut off automatically when I was turning it either way. I tried the foot pedal and it does the same exact thing. Have any of you had the same problem? Second off I purchased it with a foot pedal that had a broken screen they replaced it immediately with another one with a broken screen. Really not satisfied yet

Thanks for the video. You indicated after you deployed it in the water it locked into place. Mine won't do this. That is, the small metal chrome hooks don't latch over the metal rod/dowel. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or a part is broken. This trolling motor came on a used boat I purchased and I didn't get any documentation. Any help you can provide is appreciated. Thanks.

As it turns out the only reason my latch hooks would not latch when the motor was lowered is because the springs had lost tension, or at least there was fatigue or the loss of tension in the spring to the degree it would no longer latch in place. I got replacements "free" but $25 shipping ??? from Aquos. Just wanted to relate this in case someone else has the same problem.

The water level is still low. Rattle Snake Island isn't an island anymore but the water is on the rise.

Hi Kris. I really am glad you made this video because I was in the market for a bow mounted trolling motor and your video helped me to decide on the Haswing Cayman 55lb thrust bow mounted remote controlled trolling motor which I just purchased on Ebay. I found that I could only find a hand controlled 5 speed at max with out a remote control or even a foot control at the price this product sells for. In fact the Haswing Cayman compares very well to the Minn Kota Riptide 55lb thrust series with remote control in features and that particular trolling motor costs anywhere from $789 to $899. Last thing I want to be doing bending down constantly and adjusting the tiller while I am trolling for Walleye and Pike and I heard if you are trolling on windy days the wind will unfortunately turn the hand tiller ones for you. It's an Ok motor for the $ but you get what you pay for. I've had one on my 15' skiff for just under a year and it took a shit on me last week. There's some kind of safety switch that won't allow it to operate if the motor is in the stow position. That switch is toast, I think. It wouldn't operate on any speed except 1 or two (which wouldn't even move the boat in a light current) when the force of the prop against water was strong enough it would lift the motor slightly and that switch would shut the motor off. Ruined that day of fishing after an hour and a half drive to the coast. The next day it wouldn't even turn on at all. The lights on the display would indicate it's getting power but nothing else would happen. Stopped the triple beep when it was lowered in the water. So far I'm in communication with the company I bought it from and we'll see what kind of customer service they offer. They want me to send them a video of it's malfunction, which is no big deal. Hopefully they come through.

Lately, I've been linking my trolling motor battery to my main battery so that they both charge while I am running the motor. I haven't had any problems with it.

It was still doing just fine when I sold the boat a few moths ago. I just bought a new one for my deck boat and it's getting the job done. Although I think I should have bought one with a little more thrust since this boat is much heavier.
