My friend's dog had 12 puppies a few years ago and the mum dog would constantly put 3 pups out of the den. She would hide the 3 pups in different places around the house. Vet told my friend that dogs do this either when the pup is ill, or in her case where she can't cope with the amount of pups she's had. My friend had to hand rear the 3 pups because the mum dog began to get aggressive with the ones she didn't like.

March is growing fine, he is putting on weight and is eating. Large litters often have a runt or two and the mothers sadly do kick them out, if they themselves believe they can't feed them. It doesn't mean there is anything wrong with that runt.

Joey you should get some DNA tests for the dogs! One for momma, and then test one of the babies to give us an idea of what they could possibly be! It'd be super cool if you could test all puppies too!

Mother May looks like a blue heeler, husky mix. My guess is the fathers an American Bulldog mix because they usually come in white or brindle/white which shows on a lot of the puppies like october, the 2 polar bears, and the ones with markings around their eyes look like american Bulldog traits.

I just think it would be fun, and it also gives future owners a small glimpse into their health and risks the dogs could have! Which would be super cool considering no one knows if the mother and father/s were born strays, or just dumped.

Ya Joey as spend hella money on DNA tests for all 11 of them. God knows you taking them in giving them a nice warm safe place to be born an also care for them for all those weeks. Vet bill for shots I assume, unless you let new owners deal with all that. Plus all the poop and pee messes, all the barking an noises puppies make. You haven't done enough. LMFAO Seriously you are amazing and have done a fantastic job at taking care of May an the rest of the year puppies.

We had a pup that the mama did the same too and we kept that one and he was fine, he may have been smaller and I think she was overwhelmed with her milk production to feed all so maybe with the food this will settle down. However, towards the time when we were looking for homes for the others, the other pups turned on him. We had him thoroughly checked out and he was fine and lived a healthy happy life. I think it just becomes a survival thing for the others and mama still has the intuition from the early days, just keep an eye out and if the others go for him, then separate him.

He knows not to do that. They will normally get a new foster or someone will adopt may as soon as the puppy's are old enough

Absolutely. Puppies removed from mom too early have tons of behavioral problems. They learn so much. 8 weeks minimum.

I'm sure everyone realizes that Joey fosters for a rescue now. Wagmore if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure they have a protocol in place and make all the vet appointments for the dogs and puppies. I'm sure they also work closely with their fosters and give direction on behaviors and illness too. Let's just let Joey and the rescue handle things. It's not his first ride on this rodeo after all. It's probably not the puppy being a runt but high chance the poor thing is ill & she can sense it thus moving the puppy away or she's overwhelmed by the sheer amount..

A mother dog will move a pup that is the runt to get rid of it as it's weaker than the rest and has a lower chance of survival. Since mama has so many she could be trying to lighten her burden a bit, but it's always the same one or two that she moves.

Sorry but he hasnt shown that he knows what hes doing. His cues re basic animal behavior often comes from fan comments. He tends to assign human motivations to everything they do. Dogs and cats are not human. He really should be more knowledgeable about this after the millionth time fostering/ rescuing.
