I love these generation Oldsmobile Calais! I would fix the problems, clean it all up and it will be an awesome car. I wish more people loved these rare Oldsmobiles like you and me. This one unit is highly optioned too. Alloyed wheels, air conditioning, Ralleye gages and upgraded interior.

That is an incredible find! Here in Michigan, if you find a car for 500 bucks it is so full of rust that it doesn't matter what the condition of the drive train is. I also have a soft spot for those old 80's and 90's GM cars. They just are cool looking, unlike the potato-shaped cars that auto manufacturers are pushing out today. I have a radio out of a 90's Olds 98 sitting in my garage if you need it. It worked when we pulled it out. I think it has a tape player (I haven't said that in a long time!) Thanks for the video! I look forward to seeing updates!! -Nick.

I have a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais S with the 3.3 liter engine. It has 257,500 miles at the moment. I had the transmission rebuilt at 253,000 miles and it runs amazing! It needs a new paint job, a new passenger side headlamp assembly, and AC work. I’d love to get it upgraded to a R134 system. I love that car. It’s a hand-me-down from my dad. He ordered it from a catalog when he was stationed in Germany. My parents picked it up in St. Louis, MO. on December 1, 1988 with 3 miles on the odometer. I’d love to flip these cars but they’re becoming hard to find it seems.

Nice pick up..some will probably recommend 3M fabric adhesive for the headliner. . It may work.. But what I ended up doing on my old Buick LeSabre was.. tearing out the liner completely and and coating with clear coat.. if you don't it will degrade and blow the fuzz around constantly. Either way will work.. Good luck... She's a beaut! ...👍

@boosted2.4_sky
@boosted2.4_sky 7 жыл бұрын
I tried regular tacks and they would all just fall out ...so I tried the spray adhesive and it seemed to work for a short time but it just released and began flapping in the wind again.. so I just ripped it off and the material started to degrade and blow little pieces off of it as it degraded so I got a rattle can of some Dupli-Color clear and sprayed it on there and that did the trick...

1992 Oldsmobile my car stays in 1st gear unless I let off the gas shift to neutral the back in drive what could be the problem
@gregorymalchuk272
@gregorymalchuk272 Ай бұрын
The appropriate "fix" is what are called "twist pins" and can be found at fabric stores like Jo Ann's Fabrics. They have a cork screw that screws into the fiberglass pad above the headliner. Glue wont adhere due to the disintegrated polyurethane foam layer between the fiberglass insulation and the headliner fabric. It will ruin the fiberglass and prevent it from ever being fixed properly.

This was my first car. I hated it, and I remember flooring it as often as I could to try and blow it up thinking my parents would help me get something new. Damn thing never did. It did have quirks though. I never did figure it out, but when I would start it the first time for the day, it would stall and die at some point during the first five minutes. After restarting it, it ran perfect the rest of the day. I got pretty good at throwing it in neutral and starting it back up, putting it back in drive all without ever stopping.

Nice find, I am like you, I could care less what people think of what I drive. Unfortunately, I live on the east coast of Canada where there is so much salt air, and in winter salt on the roads that we would never find a car in that age group that wasn't riddled with cancer.

they did have issues with the TCS which allows the torque converter to lock up and prevents slippage, kinda acts like an overdrive or "4th gear". To change them you just have to take the side cover off and rnr. or just unplug it and live without the overdrive lol
