I admire your dedication to sticking to something like this! I don't have confidence in my ability to stick to a no/low buy year, but since I've started watching your videos I've started doing no-buy weeks, and even one or two weeks a month with no "fun" spending makes a positive impact on the amount of money I have left at the end of the pay cycle, and lets me pay off my car note faster

For some people is the money, for others the clutter, for me it was both. I failed in the food delivery category 😅. Oh well, next year I'll do better in that category.

Hi, Grace! Your initial video of no buy year really inspired me and I started no buy at the beginning of this year as well. I definitely had some slip-ups here and there, but it really changed my relationship with consumerism. I used to spend money mindlessly, but now, I'm able to differentiate wants and needs, and I became more and more grateful with the things I already have. Also, the no buy discord community is really helpful as well, so thank you for starting this challenge and inspiring others to do the same!

your initial no buy video inspired me so much!! and since I decided to start right away after watching it, I've actually just finished my low buy year. yesterday was my last day?! it's been a life-changing year, thanks so much for everything

Your videos are inspiring me to try again! I had a major life-threatening diagnosis mid-year and the depression around that made my shopping and conveniences consumption go WAY up. I’m going to be okay and be healthy again by next summer but I am ashamed that I am entering 2025 with more credit card debt than I had when I started the year. I’ll be back at work in 2025 and while I still have to have a major surgery and some other treatment, I will be through the worst of it. I am hopeful I can tackle it this coming year while still enjoying my life.

so happy to have been on this journey with you this year! It genuinely has changed my life and I have a long list of shopping habits to implement next year once the no buy is over to keep me off the hamster wheel of overconsuming. I have so much more contentment over the things i have, and in a way I can really like become at peace with my overconsuming past self as I use the things she once bought out of fear and impulse.

Your no buy videos always come when I need them the most! I am really feeling the pressure with black friday coming up (although apparently we've entered the stage of capitalism where we're calling it black friday week so everything is already on sale???), fighting the scarcity mindset / existential dread of how much worse and more expensive things could get over the next 4 yrs, and I am really trying not to take advantage of the sales to buy at least a yr's worth of skincare/body care/home products just to have on hand since they are things I know I'm going to continuously repurchase anyway. The even stronger urge I'm fighting is everything I've managed to talk myself out of purchasing this entire year is suddenly on sale and I'm thinking "well what if I need this in 2 yrs and can't afford it then? Might as well buy it now" ALSO fighting the urge to purchase everything with one direction/ Liam Payne's face on it to cope with how I've been feeling for the past month but that's an even more upsetting conversation Finding your channel has been one of the biggest highlights of my 2024. You've always provided me with such a sense of comfort and ease every time you've posted and it's been really wonderful to see you make such a positive change in your life and your future. Proud of you for never giving up on the challenge even when it got overwhelming!

I wasn't doing a no-buy I tried my best at low-buy intending to buy as little as possible. You inspired me a lot and I have to say that even with minor slip ups I'm proud of myself and super proud of you ! I was talking about this with my friend yesterday and realised I can count each and every single non-essential item I have bought this year. And if I count books as one item and craft materials as one (latter hard to count when they come in bundles and both being from the thrift store except for two books that were predetermined and ok) I'm pretty sure I got under 20 purchases this year. I couldn't have said that last year. I had a major surgery this year and have been unemployed for multiple months in between work so I really needed to be strict and even with my situation managed to get some money on my savings. Thanks to both of us, your influence and motivation and my hard work, I can say that. So thank you 🤍

This year has been hard but by doing a low buy year the challenges seemed easier to hand. Thank you so much for inspiring me to take a hard look at my spending life and make some changes. My plan is to do another low buy year for 2025 and push myself harder to not buy unless it's on my green light list. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences. ❤❤❤❤

2025 will be the budgeting year, I no longer feel the urge to buy things but I failed in the food delivery category, I've been spending a lot of money on it since September. Also I'm writing down the events I want to go next year so I can plan ahead. Project pan is something I want to continue, this time recording the used up products. This month I recording all my spending of the year to acquire the habit to do it at least on weekly basis.

your original video inspired me to do the same this year! I've been reviewing all of my "miscellaneous" spending from 2023 and comparing it to 2024 and it's not only crazy how much money I saved but how little times I've felt buyer's remorse this year. still trying to figure out what my goals are for next year, so this came at the perfect time 😄

This video has made me realise how far we’ve come in a year. I remember find your videos a year ago watching you prep for the no buy year, really gave me a boost, hope and make my own plan. I fell off the no buy wagon in March but managed to maintain my plan to pay off debts, which has been amazing! I am almost debt free (unfortunately my car has needed repairs this year so not quite there yet) Thank you again for this Grace, I will alway be grateful to you for helping me get into the mindset to do this. I look forward to completely clearing my debt, saving and enjoying more of your videos too! 💜

If you think about it, the no-buy year saved you from lifestyle inflation after getting a better job, which allowed you to put the additional income into savings! A lot of people just end up spending the extra money they're earning, so that's still a big win
@CrisOnTheInternetКүн бұрын
So true, that's why for some people there's never enough money to save, they get used to the raises and spend the extra money most of the time mindlessly.

Hello, havent finished the video yet but need advice. With depression and anxiety i wasted alot of time and money at stores over time but little thinhs add up, especially out food. With the holidays we made some upgrades like new shoes, pans, coffee machine, vacuum, xmas toys for toddler. And my spouse needs/wants his own working tablet. Nothing crazy like jewlery or a lambo. However i want to stop what i feel is a shopping addiction and always looking to fill voids. I think i want to do a low buy year for 2025 cause i dont make it a day or two without the store, food, or amazon.. and returns have happened too frequently. I let my mental healtha and mom stress be a excuse for the dopamine hits

I'd definitely suggest making a strong list of things that you can live without and try to avoid purchasing those next year! and then for other things maybe create a budget or a "hold period" before you're allowed to buy them. if it's an emergency or a legitimate necessity item that broke then that will be obvious, but really think about everything else. replacing just to replace, new things when the ones you have work fine or just need minor repairs, using what you already have for multiple uses etc

@gracenevitt my husband is going to trade in our old s6 tablet for a s10+ today because the old one has been giving issues and 4 years old and was cheap. And i had to get xmas plane tickets for vacation to family that was super pricey. But after this were gonna cut back on the spending and start saving for a 2nd vehicle. We have no debt and car is paid off and free housing with military rn and preparing for a 2nd baby. Def tired of buying things to feel happier

I remember watching your first videos about a no buy year last year, and whilst I haven’t stuck to a strict no buy year, I’ve had some no buy weeks or months, and my mindset towards consumerism has changed a lot. A year later and my partner and I have now bought a house, and watching your videos was definitely an integral part in helping me save money, and also now that I am paying bills to help me not spend all my pay check and keep on top of saving. Thank you Grace 🫶🏻
