Love you video and narration, really tells a lot about this beautiful instrument. Currently I have a 16" inch Dobsonian which I enjoy a lot but in a few years hope to be able to upgrade. Have you tried comparing the views with your older 16 inch? if so, would you say the difference is significant?

I just received my primary mirror today with the scope coming next week. This is by far the most in depth and useful video out there on the UC 22 inch Obsession. Thank you for walking through all the details to get it put together! I am in high and dry Colorado Springs, only an hour or so from Bortle 2 skies and can’t wait for first light. Cheers!

I am looking into one of these lightweight Dobs. I am a disabled vet with serious back issues. I have a Celestron Nexstar8se and in its carrying case it is simply to heavy. I can set it up and all but I will be in a lot of pain afterwards. I was thinking of a 12 inch dob as a replacement.

Dobsonian telescopes are generally used for visual observation with limited picture taking capabilities. You can set these up for astrophotography but then the complexity increases rapidly. These scopes are designed to be setup at a dark site and for hunting down faint fuzzy objects.

I was gonna upgrade from an 8 to a 10inch dob but would be a waste of money as bortle is around six so wouldn’t be any better off!

Bigger aperture will always show more regardless of light pollution. A 12.5 is a great scope in light or dark skies.
