This man is selling me underwear and telescopes at the same time.

At least I'm not making a pitch for "telescoping" underwear!

You mentioned you like the mirror. I looked on their site the other day and was not able to find any real information about the quality of their mirrors. Only the companies who made them. Do you know the Strehl or wave of their mirrors?

I know at one point Dave was sourcing mirrors from Zambuto and Ostahowski, but of who make top notch mirrors. Mine, from Terry, is 0.97.

Hey, quick question, how much would you recommend this to someone, I know that any obsession is good quality but also pricy. In your opinion, is it worth saving up to buy one?

It's premium performance at a premium price. Two recommendations: 1) buy used when you can (cloudynights.com and astromart.com are popular (and relatively safe) resell markets). this dramatically reduces your cost of ownership. you can get good used scopes that perform very well and after you sell it (to upgrade), it won't cost you much. 2) Buy value-level first. Don't pay for premium unless you know you're going to care about that incremental improvement. I think you're better off getting a 12-inch "mass market" dobsonian early than holding off for a long time waiting to get that 18-inch wallet-buster.

What year is your Obsession? Have they solved the issues you mention about the electronics?

2015-ish? The wiring when installed from the factory is better than what I did. With the Argo Navis and ServoCAT, it probably runs in a more streamlined manner - if you already know the Argo Navis interface, it's probably not a big deal, but I had a mental block about learning it's menu system and tried using SkyCommander with SkySafari (which required another software for alignment). I currently have a SkyWatcher 16" GoTo - that system is huge, but the electronics and mechanics are far more streamlined (one interface, integrated mechanics) - but it's huge.
