Honestly, the buckler should have a unique block animation. Rather than holding it the same way as every other shield, you should fully extend your arm like how it was used historically. Also, when activating the block, it could act like a punch and deal unarmed damage, basically letting you dual wield with an admittedly garbage weapon, but still allowing you to block if you manage your positioning and timing.

For ranged, i was thinking they should add bloom based on your movement similar to CS. If youre running and jumping, accuracy should be significantly reduced. If youre standing still or crouching, accuracy should be increased. Makes sense, has potential for skill expression, while reducing the overall effectiveness of ranged especially in a kiting situation. I'd also like to see +additional dmg and +true dmg to be much harder to come by. In a game like DaD where +3 dmg is significant, i dont think allowing up to +11 dmg is a great idea. It removes a lot of the nuance to building a kit and makes fights too quick. It also supports the ranged meta because you can chunk someone for 1/3rd or more of their hp before the fight even begins.

They haven't really explored pve vs pvp damage scaling. Could fix a lot of issues but I understand the complexity disadvantage and tooltip reworks headaches, etc.

I stopped using the LS a long time ago because the desync. It is still good, but it just doesnt feel as rewarding with the random element involved. Facing arming swords is when i notice it the most, you can sometimes see on replays, that you take damage when the weapon is still above their head and nowhere near you.

Longsword's place right now is PvE dominance...which isn't saying much considering how easy pve is to deal with lmao. I agree with you man it's wild how bad dsync can be

(I'm a Fighter) I think i agree with mostly everything honestly but i think scaling for projectiles spells needs to be based on the specific spell because up close it is really easy to hit some one with fire ball and knock them around to keep them from getting to you and dealing with that at 100% scaling would be awful imo (at least with every player being faster than fighter with any plate). I also think that i need something to give plate fighters more speed because i feel like i can't kill anyone right now because i get 2 hits on them and the put there weapons away and or kite me around while they poke me with arrows to death also it gives no reason to run plate (i don't run full plate) so maybe keep it slow but give it more pdr and mdr or make plate lighter or something perk/ability wise that only works with full plate or some combinations of those. I also think something needs to be done about magic resistance because no one has any magic resist except Iron Will barb, and as a fighter right now when i get hit with a spell it chunks like all my health (especially in high roller) On a side note there are only 2 things i miss from from the multi-class stuff 1. Iron Will so i can tank mages 2. Achilles Strike so when i get on top of them it gives me some more hits. and those 2 abilities almost fixed all my problems.

Yeah Jaygriff had a good idea on the podcast to have spells scale based on their tier. So chain lightning would scale max compared to zap scaling very little

I think savage roar should be 30% for 4 seconds, with the main benefit being that it is still AOE and can effect an entire team. I also think barbarian should have an ability that slows enemy move speed by AOE, but also reduces his own damage for the duration. Good for catching people, but doesn't grantee the kill. And nerf falchion

That'd be a decent change. I think, personally, after playing barb I'd rather have it be 25% or so and last for the full 8s. The duration adds more value in fights I feel than the % reduction and it would be less oppressive then but still provide a solid benefit to forcing people into fights with the 8s

Imo the scaling is at a good spot but can be tweaked what’s cracked is building spell/attack speed + true dmg and playing kite and kiter if you ask any of the top players like repoze or Apollo they all agree the only useful roll on items is true dmg. That’s why true dmg should either get removed completely or only allowed on pendants.

Yeah I don’t disagree hard limiting true damage so it’s still useful in a build but not the end all be all of best modifier rolls would be a great change

I think a great takeaway from multiclassing I have not seen talked about is how much better the game felt when everyone was a lot tankier, it feels baffling to me that there wasn't a test to vastly increase hp and defense on all classes.

I agree with everything you said. I dont like how balancing patches are so drastic. I wish instead of picking a few things and totally flipping them whether that is buff or nerf, they would slowly buff and nerf every item in small increments, weekly until they find a sweetspot. Every patch something new is meta. They should slowly, over time, buff and nerf items until their data shows that items are being used equally. Nobody uses halbard, bardiche, doubleaxe, battleaxe, kris, quarterstaff, horsemans. Start adding 1 wpn dmg or a little move speed, WEEKLY, in small increments, until people stsrt using that item.

Spear is typically used on ranger which is a 2 hand weapon, they pick it over rapier and arming sword, if they can make that kind of flexibly on all 2 handers it would be great, one example would be buffing the warmaul overhead hit to be +160% damage instead of 120% I mean for god sake the stilleto third hit is 140%

I'd say that the problem with scaling on spells can be targeted better with removing added and true since they are absolutely necessary for high roller or for builds like hydra life drain warlock. Between that and how magic damage from spell casting items works makes an ungeared warlock's CoP go from 14 dmg on hit to 30 dmg on hit when in blues.

As a cleric main I can agree the server issues are a huge problem. I could literally hit every heal and they just go straight through my teammates sometimes. I haven't played in a couple months but it seems every patch makes the servers worse.

Ranged is op, TTK too low, 90% of skills and perks still not used because they never did that comprehensive adjustment patch. and content is falling behind. They have their work cutout to fix this but why leave so much busted for so long? They want the combat to boil down to gear check, W key, and ranged spam? sure seems like it after a year. baffling

For sure. They need to find a way to lower sprint value on lighter armor fighter builds maybe but anything done to sprint destroys pdr fighter. Which is more an issue with how movespeed is workin in the game at base than sprint I suppose

Yeah idk if we'll get that man. I know in the past they've mentioned really not wanting to push the game toward needing a stamina bar. Maybe it was in the Pestily q&a way back in playtest 2/3? Think it was around then they said it

I for one would like to be able to play the game again. Since its full release my friends and I have not been able to successfully install or update the game. Authentication error. Tried all the fixes on the internet. :(

These changes would be cool, cuz variety and player agency is good. Geting hp reduced to 30% before even closing gap is not fun (or unnecessarily hard), i kinda hoped they stick with talents that actually empowers playstyles (something like in league of legends i suppose ) but not to much variety (see multitasking). Clear strengths and weaknesses edit. but i didn't play this season at all so idk if i have right for such opinion

the thing about magic missile and using it for melee pvp etc is.. you don't even need it. You can literally point blank fireball someone knock them back and yourself back while nearly 1 shotting them and taking like 1% of your own hp even though you technically just fireballed yourself as much as the target :) and I say nearly 1 shotting them... but alot of times it is just a 1 shot :) I did a massive rant on sparkys last video after watching a wizard take 3 headshots from longsword and 1 tap with magic missile xD None of this matters honestly, because the biggest problem in the game is the one they refuse to talk about. The biggest problems are the ones that are now just "apart of the game" just never to be spoken of again :) Yeah I'm talking GEAR/Random modifiers CREEP and GBMM, and I promise you more players won't fix this :) more players will quit because of this xD Literally everyone has been complaining about gear since the first iterations of +all came out, no one likes it :) people like their character feeling fast/strong but they don't like statcheck meta bullshit. Not even repoze enjoys just w key + left click... I even heard him asking for more parry type weapons in the game, more skill expression. The only way to bring back skill expression is to tone down gear, more players isn't going to save the game... 60k+ players already quit... so? maybe we should figure out what made them quit in the first place and patch that hole before we start filling the tub back up? you know? why did 60k players quit? why don't they put out a poll and ask everyone who is still here why their friends quit and why they themselves didn't yet. I can guarantee 75% +++ will have quit because of gear. That would be my answer "my friends quit because of getting gear stomped everygame, spawn rushed and gear stomped by buffball" and I imagine alot would be the same. So the question should be "how do we get these players back" not "how do we find more dummies to spend $40 to get thrown in a literal meat grinder of sweaty nerds that have been no lifing this game for a year" surely that has good results yeh? xD And as for why am I still playing... starting to lose focus of that for sure, getting tough to say. This was the best game I have seen come out in at least a decade, I was soooooo excited when I played this game first. This is what diablo 3 was meant to be. Even though I doubt they will be able to fix it from the repetitive mistakes they have made, i'd like to try to get as much fun out of it while I can until its gone :) been through games like this before... enjoy it while it lasts :) but here's hoping it does

Yeah I got nothing to disagree with honestly. Creep, random modifiers being too good, and gbmm is all bad for the game imo as well. I honestly wonder what the take from Ironmace is on those three things. Like, so they want to change them? Do they think they’re fine? Do they just not have time to implement changes properly? Was nice to see 75% mm scaling in the patch today at least I suppose lol. Progress!

Make armor and stats scale by one per tier. Adds value to items but doesn’t completely yoke people out. Make removing armor is only possible when standing still. Make all the classes move the same speed but make jumping punished. Bows should do more damage but draw slower, get rid of slow on hit. That goes for melee as well. The rest I agree. Keep the game simple but add better mechanics to the game. They could learn a lot from chivalry. Repost is a must for all weapons. Give it a faster fight mechanic, forget this jump hitting shit. It breaks immersion and it looks super gay. The blocking mechanics look like shit and it is completely unnecessary to gameplay. You shouldn’t have to skill shot a block to that degree. I mean fucking really? It’s ridiculous turning 90 degrees to block a weapon that would clearly hit the side of your shield. Everything needs to be toned down… all classes should be able to use all weapons and armor BUT be balanced out to character stats. The game is dying to autistic functions of the game, it’s not a good looking game. I don’t feel good winning fights anymore. 3 attack patterns jumping around and tossing throwables, this game feels like some shit in 2014. I kinda want a refund, maybe I was expecting too much… I had high hopes, I guess I should just keep to chiv.

I think melee combat needs a lot more hard cc. Like little stagger effects, knock backs, maybe even knock downs. And not as skills but as inherent effects to specific attacks. Maybe for the last attack in a attackchain or as low damage right click on two handed weapons. Naturally something like that would need ttk to go up significantly. We simply need more options for skill expression. I also think it would be very beneficial for the game if every class would have a defensive maneuver on a new key bind. Like rogue could get a dodge roll, fighter could get a 1 sec long parry with instant reposte, ranger could get a backstep, wizard an short time magic shield and so on. They should all be on a short cooldown like 5 secs, but CD could be individually and they should all be reactive. I believe melee combat needs to be more than attacking and tanking damage. A restricted class specific option to negate instances of damage completely if you play with skill (kind of like parrying) should be the first way of dealing with incoming damage and only if you fail in that or lose control over the fight you actually lose health. That way ttk would increase significantly naturally and each class would gain a completely new level of class identity. I would love to hear some opinions on that take.

I like the idea of a stagger at the end of an attack chain actually. But some weapons already lock players into a melee fight with other melee players and having a defensive option like you mentioned would be a good fix for that as well. That’s why I felt at least having a “parry/riposte” weapon/shield available to all classes to have the option to use something like the defensive option for all classes you mentioned

starting to sound a little like apex giving everyone perma dashes and what not... not saying its a bad idea but like.. just doesnt feel like the game, you know? would fit in a big mmo or something but thats not this. I think what would work better is giving the "stagger effect" that felling axe gets too all weapons if you miss, so no more holding W key and wiffing for free, you wiff they get a free hit.

I personally think they should reduce all player versus player dmg by 2/3s and let the spell casting classes recharge their spells while they move around at the same rate as sitting. I'm sick of sitting down for 30 seconds to a minute after clearing every module i enter in high roller.

Me too dude lol. I enjoy wizard a lot but I can’t be dang bothered to sit every other two minutes. That’s why I suggested magic missiles lower scaling and double casts down to tier 1 lol. Make it a bit easier to enjoy playing wizard around dealing with pve somewhat at least

@@oggieson I'm just not certain that one spell change could really make the difference for the entire class's gameplay loop. Not to mention this wouldn't help clerics much either and they are also a class that needs some major changes imo. Cleric is completely unviable unless you are a god at DND. Though, you did touch on it when you talked about the maces. Which i agree with you on that one. Maces are the cheapest thing on the market because no one plays Cleric or uses flanged mace as fighter.

you have to provide them with specific equations for each weapon type to use. DaD devs are dogwater, and it's likely too hard for them to figure it out. When you say scaling - what do you mean? Scaling with + damage? or do you mean scaling with +damage AND + power? DaD devs currently only use scaling on +damage for both magic and phys damage types. If you wanted everything to scale absolutely equally - the fix is to simply REMOVE all +damage, because +power already scales by a percentage - thus everything scales the same under just the power stat. It does not sound like that is what you want though.

This is a good point. I think and individual scaling against the +damage and physical/magical power for weapons/spells could give them a lot more angles to balance things in the game

I don't think the other blocking weapons should get a reposte honestly. I think that should stay inherent to longsword. Maybe if there are sweeping changes to the weapons but longsword left click is still not good enough. Bardiche blocking hitbox needs to be fixed, it's absurd you can block arrows/ attacks with an invisible forcefield around it, but longsword needs to be exact, and even when you are it still doesn't work 20% off the time. Buckler definitely shouldn't have reposte, it's miles easier to block with buckler than longsword. If they take away blocking power from it, maybe a 2 second 10% action speed bonus after blocking instead. I agree with the overall message of the video, weapons are not balanced, and ttk needs to go up across the board to allow for more time to learn, adapt, and express skill difference.

I agree that buckler is pretty easy to block with coming from longsword man perspective lol. If it didn’t do too much damage and was used as a debuff source more than a damage source I think it could add a lot more to melee is all. Same with the ripostes on the weapons. Bardiche block hitbox of course needs fixed for this to work at all I agree. Longsword’s individual balance aside, I think the other weapons would at least incentivize more players to push melee since they’re have fun outplay potential weapons like we longsword bros have and continue to play despite the weapons downsides. That’s where I’m at with the thought process, balance the ripostes and weapons so they’re not overbearing and make people want to use them cuz they’re fun

it doesn't make sense for daggers to retain 100% scaling since they have by far the most DPS (outside of longsword riposte but daggers are obviously not reliably parried) and least risk, even if they do have to get close a miss simply does not matter bc they are stabbing you again in under a second with most builds, this mixed with high PDR on fighter with high MS and stacking true is completely broken rn one thing that could remedy this is removing the deadzone for the longsword so you have a chance in trading people who hug you with daggers

Hmm this is a good point when you look at how high dps on daggers actually is, doubly so with the synergy they have with classes that use them. Didn’t think about that so I think you’re right they would likely need to scale with the other 1h weapons else they’d just be flat out better

I feel like... you should be staggered if you miss an attack with ANY weapon, you should be punished for holding down left click and wiffing. That would allow a window for counter attack if you force them to miss. But then you will get staggered if you miss or hit a wall, so they need to lessen stagger from hitting walls/floor for this to work... think of it like this, if I'm swinging a sword to kill someone with all my might from right to left at their head and I completely wiff... all that force has to go somewhere... I either need to arc it down and hit the floor or I could lose my balance which would give an opportunity to counter attack. Now if same situation but instead I hit the wall beside you... IMO the stagger would be alot less, I can swing it back the way I came from, the wall is somewhat absorbing all the force... like it wouldn't feel good! there would be some vibrations haha but you could swing again :)

I’d like to see IM add a slew of eastern style weapons to fill niches that don’t exist and flesh out some play styles and classes just to add some variety stuff from Japan China and Korea. Lot of cool things like glavies, huge draw weight bows of course the katana you could add. Also with how bad the desync is LS needs the nuke damage lmao

Every spell scales at 1.0 ratio except for magic missiles which is .75 ratio I believe. I don’t think any changes were made to spell scaling with the wipe update but I’d have to search the wiki to verify

Remove sprint, rage, phantomize, invis, and haste. Ms meta needs to go away. Sprint is still the best skill in game by far, best utility by far. True damage also needs to be removed and armour pen% increased

Yeah for sure anything that increasing move speed is just exponentially more impactful in the current state of the game. Sprint was taken on every class out there during Multiclassing. I think they’d have to do a hefty rework to on hit slows and base armor movespeed penalties since there’s already an issue with gap closing in the game despite these being in the game, but maybe removing all of them would balance that out better. I think finding ways to make the skills less useful on stuff that’s too good with them, 50ms sprint on slayer, might go a long way toning them down in a way that still lets them be valuable in some builds on game tho is where I’m at with my thinking

All of these have counters ??? They’re not as busted as you’d think sprint gets countered by any hit, rage nerfs your pdr to the ground so you take sometimes 10% more dmg, phantomize gets cooked by literally any aoe spell holy strike lighting strike and fire ball splash.

Agreed. They increased the base hp on the test server today so maybe that'll be coming to live as well

All weapons being able to parry it’s definitely one of the worst ideas out of the ones you’ve showed prior

No no no not all weapons dude. Just making one weapon/shield available to the classes have it. Not every weapon in the game. My idea is only longsword, bardiche, quarterstaff, spear, and buckler

​@oggieson What are some of your ideas for the suggested ripostes for the other weapons? The bardice for example seems pretty unweidly to do a riposte, and likely to hit with the sour spot. Whereas a spear could have a unique mechanic like after a parry hit them with the butt of the weapon to do low damage but get a bit of a knock back to get you back into a favorable position and take advantage of the spear's range.
