Hi Catherine'. My name is kim. I was diagnosed a similar type of ovarian cancer when I was 18. My tumor was 2 pounds and had destroyed my right ovary and fallopian tube. The good news is I'm 55 and still in remission. I will pray you have the same outcome.

Hi Catherine, I just randomly ran onto your video! My daughter at the age of 16 also had this rare cancer. Was yours called an endodermal sinus tumor? Everything you are mentioning is practically identical to what she went through, even down to the appearance of your scar!! Also, her surgeon compaired her tumor to the size of a volleyball and lifted right out as well. He took her right fallopian tube, ovary, I think appendix, and I believe some lymph nodes. She was diagnosed with stage 1 cancer and had Chemotheropy for 3 months. This all happened in 1999 and she has had 3 healthy children since, with no complications, her oldest is 16 and youngest is 8. I believe God had a plan for her life and saved her from this horrible illness so that she could become a special needs teacher and make a difference in so many lives!! Today she is almost 40 years old and cancer free!! God bless you and hope to hear from you!

I just found your video first talking about your cancer today, and I'm kind of glad I was late to the show because now I know that you're okay. That's awesome. I had a lot of people tell me when I was still going through chemo that I needed to get over it, and that it wasn't a big deal. Even if you're not going through that piece of treatment, you had a life-altering diagnosis and procedure, and anyone who can disregard that part of your life so flippantly truly has no idea what's going on. In my experience, they were not lifelong friends. I hope you continue to stay positive and strong.

I was diagnosed with uterine cancer grade 3 stage 1B I had a complete hysterectomy with removal of both my ovaries. I wish my doctor didn’t take them... surgical menopause is hell for me. It’s just pure hell going through this at a young age. I did also have radiotherapy as they said grade 3 has a high risk of recurrence. Thank you so much for making this video. Please follow your heart and get your eggs froze xxx

Hi Amanda, I have the same, grade 3 endometrial cancer stage 1B. I had just passed menopause when I was diagnosed. I had chemo and radiation. The doctor said if it was a low grade, I would have been finished after the surgery. So far I have had two clear scans. I had endometrial carcinocarcinoma. I still have close surveillance so I am hoping that God Forbid if it comes back it will be caught quickly. How are you doing now, and how long since your treatment?

I was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma in my sternum. Found a lump. This type of sarcoma is chemo-resistant and is also resistant to most radiation. Surgery was essentially my only option. They told me before my surgery that if they couldn’t get it all that I would have to do something called proton radiation that can sometimes be effective on it. Luckily they got it all with surgery. I have scans every 3 months and the fear of recurrence is with me every minute of everyday. But I also feel like an imposter because I didn’t go through chemotherapy treatment. And feeling that sort of guilt just makes the PTSD even worse. I’m so incredibly happy to know your surgery was successful and that it was caught in an early stage. I wish I had the nerve to make a video like this. These cancer story videos are EVERYTHING when you’re newly diagnosed and looking for support on KZbin. I did the same as you and went right to KZbin after being diagnosed and there wasn’t much at all. So thank you for sharing your story with the world. ♥️

Another interesting fact, if you have your ovaries removed, you can still get cancer where your ovaries were. My grandma had ovarian cancer, but unfortunately she caught it too late as this is called the silent killer for us women. My mama had uteran cancer and only ended up with partial hysterectomy. I am so very glad that you are in remission.

Hi, just passing by in April 2021. Well done to you and your surgeons and all those who helped you along the way. And I REALLY want to share in your opinion that we MUST self-advocate. This is critical. I often think about some of my older loved-ones. I'm 55, so my parents are a bit older, as are other relatives. Many of our elders come from a world where you would never EVER question your physician, it would just not be the "Done thing". Having moved from the USA to the UK (dual citizen now!) I see this is even more apparent in the UK, though the US also struggles. What would be brilliant would be groups of those of us who have some understanding, ability to get older folks to their appointments and sit-in as their advocates. That's something as simple as taking notes, helping ask questions and helping "push" (with love, of course! LOL) to ensure all our loved-ones get the care they need. Thanks again for having the forethought to share this with all of us! And most of all, stay well, stay happy and keep learning. You are a lovely human! :)

Also, I ended up having a full hysterectomy at age 40 due to severe pain during periods in the scar tissue of the first ovary that was removed earlier in my child bearing years (having pain there didn’t make sense to my gynecologist, however). Anyway, I did NOT go into early menopause. I started menopause in my early 50’s. So them telling you you’ll go into early menopause has not proven true, at least for me

when you werent bloated or distended, did your abdomen still feel as if there was a mass? I have heard two people ik have had no idea, one being really skinny and lean...she didnt know she had a mass....I go for an ultrasound on the 5th, with bowel issues for years, recent dizziness and nausea, heavy menstruation with clots...etc..... as well as cramps and bloating and distention.....i am very nervous but this was also reassuring, stay strong:)

@CatherineSaoud 3 жыл бұрын
I’m glad this could be reassuring for you! It felt hard as if I was pregnant, like something was in there. It really depends on your body how each person experiences the bloating. But because my stomach was hard, it gave me more of a leg to stand on when negotiating with the doctors on the severity of my condition.

In aging societies when we need more kids, more should be done to help women/families give birth and care for their kids. Kids are the future! Hope all is well with you.
